Description

My life is very ordinary. I’m not glamorous. But in a culture that’s constantly chasing the next shiny thing, there’s something deeply satisfying about a ”long obedience in the same direction.” It’s an ordinary life, but better. It’s Glordinary. Let’s be friends as we celebrate God’s Glory and champion the ordinary.

Well, that escalated quickly.  One minute, you hear something. The next, you’ve filled in the blanks, reached a conclusion, and you’re ready to go to war (metaphorically speaking, I hope). This week on Glordinary, we’re heading into Joshua 22 to talk about what happens when suspicion stops asking questions and starts supplying answers. We’ll look at how quickly our interpretations can become beliefs, how those beliefs shape our behavior, and what might change if we approached one another with a little more generosity. Because sometimes the facts aren’t the problem. Sometimes it’s the story we’ve built around them. Grab your coffee, Friend. Before we jump to conclusions, maybe we should have a conversation. www.glordinary.com Here’s a little sneak peek: “What the Israelites saw was accurate. What they heard was accurate. The Eastern tribes did indeed build an altar. But their interpretation, the story they told themselves about why the altar was built was NOT accurate. Same altar. Different story.” P.S. Ever notice how quickly suspicion can turn into jumping to conclusions? One unanswered question, a few assumptions, and suddenly we’ve got a whole story in our heads. And it may not even be true! Before we dive into our next conversation in Relationships: Kind of a Dumpster Fire, we’re heading to Joshua 22 for a little Biblical backstory. A misunderstanding between the tribes of Israel nearly turns into an all-out war. Yep, that escalated quickly! Listen in as we read Joshua 22 together. Then join me for our next episode as we unpack what this ancient story can teach us about our relationships today.
We're taking sister talk to the Glordinary set! 🎙️ For our very first on-set interview, I'm joined by my sister, Stephanie Martinez—pastor, singer/songwriter, and author of the upcoming book Blended: Navigating the Messes & Successes in a Blending Family. We're picking up where Episode # 141 Just Asking Questions left off, digging a little deeper into suspicion, relationships, and trusting God when we don't have all the answers. Plus, Steph shares a little about her new book! Grab your coffee, Friend. Let's talk relationships—because sometimes they're kind of a dumpster fire. ☕ www.glordinary.com P.S. What happens when you step away from the noise…and into the quiet? In this special episode, I’m sharing a conversation from The Sanctuary Stirrings Podcast, where I joined Lori Melton to talk all things silent retreats—what they are, what they aren’t, and what I’ve experienced when I’ve intentionally made space to get quiet with God. We’re also chatting about the next silent retreat, where I’ll be joining Lori as co-host. If you’ve ever wondered what actually happens on a silent retreat—or whether you could survive one—this conversation is for you.
Have you ever noticed how suspicion can get your mind running? One question leads to another. You replay the conversation. Question the motive. Dig a little deeper. Try to fill in a few blanks. And before you know it, you’ve run a mental marathon without actually getting anywhere. Sound familiar? Yeah. Me too. This week, we’re kicking off our new series, Relationships: Kind of a Dumpster Fire, with a wild story from 2 Samuel and an honest conversation about suspicion, discernment, and trusting God when some of the blanks stay blank. So grab your coffee, Friend. Let’s get off the suspicion treadmill, together. www.glordinary.com Here’s a little sneak peek: “Because, after all, we’re “just asking questions.” Except there’s nothing “just” about it. And we’re not truly asking questions. We’re making implications, even accusations with our suspicion.” P.S.
