Marriage, in William Alcott’s vision, is not merely a private arrangement or a pursuit of happiness—it is a calling. In this practical guide, he urges the young husband to consider his responsibilities before God, toward his wife, and within the home he leads.Paperback 📖: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GSGN3Z85Scroll Reader 📜: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/the-young-husband-a-mans-duties-in-marriage/Chapters 📑(0:00) Preface (1838)(1:58) 1 - Choosing an Occupation That Honors God(34:31) 2 - Choosing the Best Place to Raise a Family(1:07:17) 3 - Building a Home That Serves the Family(1:16:56) 4 - Changing the World by Leading One’s Family Well(1:24:29) 5 - The Value of Order in Daily Life(1:34:21) 6 - Leading in Family Worship(1:44:35) 7 - The Importance of Order in the Morning(1:49:35) 8 - Using Free Time to Strengthen the Family(1:54:46) 9 - Why a Husband Should Spend Evenings at Home(2:16:44) 10 - A Husband’s Duty of Daily Self-Examination(2:23:25) 11 - The Power of Conversation in the Family(2:30:46) 12 - Using Letter-Writing for Growth and Friendship(2:37:48) 13 - Why Husband and Wife Should Keep Journals(2:45:23) 14 - What a Christian Home Should Read(2:51:25) 15 - How Husband and Wife Should Study Together(2:59:09) 16 - Why Fiction Weakens the Mind and Character(3:03:49) 17 - How a Family Should Keep the Lord’s Day(3:10:46) 18 - Honoring Old Friends and New Ones(3:12:50) 19 - Honoring Family Ties After Marriage(3:15:44) 20 - Serving Society Without Neglecting Home(3:20:25) 21 - When Husband and Wife Struggle for Control(3:28:07) 22 - Keeping Love Alive in Marriage(3:30:17) 23 - The Difference Between Love and Flattery(3:31:59) 24 - Christlike Kindness Between Husband and Wife(3:34:42) 25 - The Danger of Too Much Familiarity in Marriage(3:37:00) 26 - Keeping the Home Pure in Thought and Speech(3:45:08) 27 - Why an Impatient Husband Destroys Peace at Home(3:49:26) 28 - When Pride and Argument Harm a Marriage(3:51:53) 29 - The Quiet Hurts a Husband Must Avoid(3:58:23) 30 - Why Suspicion Destroys Trust(4:00:05) 31 - When a Father’s Temper Slowly Darkens the Home(4:09:09) 32 - How Constant Criticism Hurts a Marriage(4:17:21) 33 - Learning to Control Your Temper(4:25:02) 34 - The Need for a Cheerful Spirit(4:28:38) 35 - Making Your Wife Your Closest Confidant(4:41:32) 36 - The Importance of Little Things in Marriage(4:48:18) 37 - Why Improper Jokes Corrupt the Home(4:51:15) 38 - Respecting Boundaries with Other Women(4:53:30) 39 - The Danger of Revealing Family Secrets(4:58:56) 40 - Why a Husband Must Practice Discretion(5:00:37) 41 - Mind Your Own Business in Marriage(5:02:24) 42 - Why Indecision Frustrates a Family(5:03:48) 43 - Teaching a Family to Give(5:06:36) 44 - The Unfair Burdens Some Husbands Place on Their Wives(5:21:43) 45 - A Husband’s Duty to Cleanliness and Appearance(5:26:22) 46 - Health, Habits, and the Well-Being of a Family(5:34:17) 47 - The Importance of Wise Household Management(5:41:23) 48 - Caring for the Sick in the Family(5:46:53) 49 - A Husband’s Duties After His Wife’s Death(5:49:49) 50 - A Husband’s Tenderness in Difficult Seasons
Have Mercy Upon Me is Andrew Murray’s warm, clear, and spiritually serious guide through Psalm 51, showing what true repentance is and how a sinner finds mercy with God. This is not a vague treatment of grace, but a deeply searching and practical call to honest confession, personal cleansing, and living faith in the mercy God gives through Christ. Again and again, Murray presses the reader beyond mere religious words and toward a real experience of forgiveness, renewal, and restored fellowship with God. Rich with pastoral counsel and gospel hope, this devotional work is especially suited for burdened consciences, seeking hearts, and any believer who wants to better understand the depth of sin, the necessity of repentance, and the fullness of divine mercy.Kindle and Paperback: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GRJMRRF3Listen on Scroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/have-mercy-upon-me/Chapters:(0:00) Opening(0:27) Preface(8:39) Introduction(9:33) The Psalms(16:21) Psalm 51(25:06) Day 1(33:57) Day 2(40:48) Day 3(48:28) Day 4(55:55) Day 5(1:03:59) Day 6(1:12:05) Day 7(1:19:03) Day 8(1:26:17) Day 9(1:33:09) Day 10(1:40:42) Day 11(1:47:44) Day 12(1:52:53) Day 13(2:00:44) Day 14(2:06:28) Day 15(2:11:42) Day 16(2:17:47) Day 17(2:23:16) Day 18(2:29:06) Day 19(2:34:59) Day 20(2:40:59) Day 21(2:47:45) Day 22(2:52:50) Day 23(2:59:32) Day 24(3:06:41) Day 25(3:13:27) Day 26(3:19:22) Day 27(3:25:39) Day 28(3:32:53) Day 29(3:39:17) Day 30(3:46:02) Day 31
First published in 1666 during John Bunyan’s imprisonment, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners is his spiritual autobiography—a record of the Lord’s dealings with his soul in conviction, temptation, conversion, and assurance.Written out of a father’s deep love for his own children, this book is Bunyan’s honest account of God’s work in his heart. Separated from his family by hardship, he records his journey through deep conviction of sin, fearful doubts, fierce temptations, and, at last, the comfort and assurance found in Christ.Bunyan speaks plainly of sinking into despair and being raised again by mercy, showing that God wounds and heals, humbles and restores. What once seemed overwhelming became a testimony to grace greater than his sin and stronger than Satan’s assaults.More than a personal story, this book calls his children—and all who read—to remember the beginnings of God’s grace in their own lives and to press on through the wilderness until they reach the promised rest beyond.Listen on Scroll Reader:https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/grace-abounding-the-conversion-of-john-bunyan/Kindle and Paperback:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GQZBYSXJChapters & Timecodes (0:00) A Brief Account of Why This Book Was Published (5:26) Editor’s Note (2026) (6:15) 1 - Preserved in Sin: Warnings, Mercy, and a Hardened Heart (12:02) 2 - Reformed Outside: Marriage, Religion, and Self-Righteous Fear (25:21) 3 - Bedford’s Poor Women: A Door Opens to the New Birth (39:20) 4 - A Glimpse of Hope: Christ Opened a Way for Sinners (1:00:03) 5 - Depths of Despair: Then the First Beam of Comfort (1:04:34) 6 - A Terrible Storm: Dark Thoughts and Violent Temptations (1:17:29) 7 - Mr. Gifford’s Counsel—and a New Focus on Christ (1:22:01) 8 - Driven Back to Scripture: Error Exposed, Conscience Helped (1:25:58) 9 - Luther’s Galatians: A Wounded Conscience Finds a Guide (1:27:49) 10 - The Great Assault: “Sell Christ” (1:44:08) 11 - False Comforts and Terrible Fears: When Esau’s Warning Haunted Me (1:52:44) 12 - “Did You Ever Refuse?” The Fight to Pray (2:15:21) 13 - Is His Grace Enough? It settles quietly into the habits of church life—what we excuse, overlook, and learn to call “normal.” In Greed: The Church’s Quiet Sin, John Harris exposes how covetousness cools love, dulls prayer, and turns God’s people inward—calling the household of faith to repentance, joyful stewardship, and treasure in heaven.Kindle or Paperback:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GQJNQV25Listen on Scroll Reader:https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/greed-the-churchs-quiet-sin/Chapters:0:00 — Introduction2:13 — Editor’s Note2:42 — Preface9:04 — Part 1 – Section 1 – The Universe Was Meant to Display and Enjoy the Love of God11:56 — Section 2 – Sin, as Selfishness, Destroys God’s Plan15:39 — Section 3 – All Sin is Selfishness19:09 — Section 4 – The Gospel: When Love Conquers Selfishness35:58 — Section 5 – The Gospel Hindered: Selfishness in the House of God40:54 — Section 6 – The Forms of Selfishness in the Church58:55 — Part 2 – Section 1 – The Nature of Covetousness1:03:12 — Section 2 – Forms of Covetousness1:08:43 — Section 3 – The Widespread Nature of Greed1:26:30 — Section 4 – The Present Dominance of Greed in Britain1:44:02 — Section 5 – The Many Disguises of Greed1:54:39 — Section 6 – Tests That Reveal Greed2:10:05 — Section 7 – The Guilt and Dangers of Greed2:53:44 — Section 8 – The Certain Judgment and Eternal Ruin of Greed3:09:00 — Section 9 – How Greed Makes Excuses for Not Being Generous3:47:37 — Part 3 – Section 1 – Christian Giving Explained4:19:29 — Section 2 – Christian Generosity Urged and Strengthened

What is man—small beneath the vast heavens, yet so precious that God is “mindful of him” and comes near to him? In these chapters, the psalmist’s question (Psalm 8:3–4) becomes a searching journey into God’s original design for humanity and the tragedy of our fallen condition. You will be led to see man as Scripture describes him—body, soul, and spirit—and to understand why the highest life is not found in comfort, culture, or circumstance, but in the spirit made alive to God. A companion to The Mother at Home, this classic by John S. C. Abbott speaks to children and teens with a loving but serious aim: to form hearts that are thankful, truthful, obedient, and ready to live for God, using vivid, true-to-life stories to show how character is shaped one decision at a time. Intended to be read with a parent nearby, it is written not for mere entertainment but for lasting formation, teaching that the path of duty is the path of peace, and that true happiness is found in obedience to Christ. In The Mother at Home, John Abbott speaks with clear, practical warmth to the daily work of motherhood—showing how a mother’s quiet influence shapes a child’s character, habits, and eternal outlook. With vivid examples drawn from ordinary family life, Abbott explains why loving authority matters, how to establish willing obedience without constant conflict, and how a mother can correct faults fairly, wisely, and consistently.Paperback 📖: https://amzn.to/4sXr5WlScroll Reader 📜: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/the-mother-at-home/Chapters 📑(0:00) Introduction(0:14) Preface(1:50) 1 - Responsibility(32:59) 2 - Maternal Authority(56:26) 3 - Maternal Authority Continued(1:27:45) 4 - The Mother’s Difficulties(1:53:30) 5 - Faults and Errors(2:25:27) 6 - Methods and Plans(2:51:07) 7 - Religious Instruction(3:21:38) 8 - Religious Instruction Continued(4:07:46) 9 - Fruits of Piety(4:39:26) 10 - Fruits of Piety Continued(5:11:57) 11 - Results© 2026 Scroll Reader. Ellen Mansfield leaves her quiet farm believing that hard work — not faith — will shape her future. Caring for her crippled brother Jerry has taught her responsibility but not hope. When she moves to the city, unexpected trials force Ellen to confront questions she’s long avoided and the promise, “As many as touched Him were made whole.” In her search for healing — for Jerry and for her own restless heart — she discovers that true wholeness comes only through trusting in Christ.Listen on Scroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/as-many-as-touched-him/(0:00) Introduction(0:58) 1 - Looking for a Letter (9:32) 2 - Jerry's Trial (17:46) 3 - The Great Physician (26:17) 4 - Leaving Home (38:01) 5 - In the Work-Room (44:08) 6 - Suffering for Conscience Sake (51:14) 7 - Dreary Days (55:48) 8 - A Lonely Sufferer (1:02:31) 9 - An Alarming Incident (1:10:22) 10 - A Conversation (1:15:15) 11 - In the Hospital (1:25:49) 12 - Sorrowful Tidings (1:32:30) 13 - Mother and Daughter (1:44:23) 14 - Jerry's Faith Has Its Reward (2:00:46) 15 - Ten Years Later
Revised in 2024 to enhance readability and comprehension. The following story, originally read in French, immediately struck me as one that, with some modifications to convey clear and strong evangelical truths, would make an excellent addition to Sunday School libraries and appeal to young readers of all kinds. The story is deeply moving, and the lessons it teaches are both valuable and important. I've rarely encountered lessons of practical piety presented as simply as they are in this little book, all drawn from the beauties of nature. Almost every chapter contains sermons directed at young hearts, using flowers from the garden as their texts. The translation of the story is quite free, with significant omissions in many places and considerable additions in others.G.T. Chapter 21 — Never Punish a Child in AngerFrom Training the Child’s Heart: Practical Hints for Christian Parents by Henry Clay Trumbull. In this excerpt, Trumbull explains why discipline given in anger is always wrong, even when a child clearly deserves correction. He shows how calm, thoughtful correction honors the justice of God, protects your authority, and teaches your child what it truly means to do right. You’ll hear practical insight on the difference between stopping harmful behavior and delivering punishment, and how self-control in a parent leads to growth, trust, and lasting heart change in a child.Listen here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5S3yZUjtZEQb2t9abYY0xa?si=NF-r4wbuTgyEeFmlXRUvmQ
This edition of The Reformed Pastor is based on the version described in William Brown’s 1829 Preface—a shortened, carefully edited edition (not Palmer’s 1766 abridgment) that removes material unrelated to the main subject and some dated controversy, with minor reordering (including moving “Motives to the Oversight of the Flock” into the main body) and light language correction without modernizing the style.Paperback & Kindle: https://amzn.to/3LLOfhAScroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/reformed-pastor-call-faithful-shepherding/Chapters(0:00) Intro(1:08) Dedication(25:39) Introduction(28:11) 1 - The Nature of the Oversight(1:10:03) 2 - The Motives To This Oversight(1:44:51) 3 - The Nature of This Oversight(2:48:30) 4 - The Manner of This Oversight(3:19:46) 5 - The Motives of This Oversight(3:38:02) 6 - The Use of Humiliation(5:05:40) 7 - The Duty of Personal Instruction(5:49:53) 8 - Motives Drawn From the Difficulties of the Work(6:32:13) 9 - Objections to This Duty(7:11:14) 10 - Directions for This Duty(7:12:56) 11 - How to Win Your People to Catechising and Personal Instruction(7:25:14) 12 - How to Instruct Souls Most Effectively© 2026 Scroll Reader. Can a church call itself evangelical if it is not evangelistic? In these searching addresses, G. Campbell Morgan brings the whole subject of evangelism back to its New Testament center: the one unchanging evangel and the living Christ who still proclaims it through His Church. Refusing both nostalgic longing for “old-fashioned revivals” and shallow schemes for a “new evangelism” with no Cross, Morgan insists that there is only one Gospel—always fresh, always sufficient—for every age.Beginning with the evangel itself—Christ’s Lordship, His atoning Cross, His risen life, and His indwelling Spirit—Morgan traces how this message creates and sustains an evangelistic Church. A truly evangelical church, he argues, must be a fellowship of reconciled, regenerate, and reigning believers whose life together makes the Gospel visible to the world.Paperback & Kindle: https://amzn.to/45C3hgxListen on Scroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/a-bible-believing-church-must-be-evangelistic/Chapters(0:00) Introduction(0:42) 1 - The Evangel(23:49) 2 - The Church Evangelistic(49:03) 3 - The Evangelist(1:19:39) 4 - The Evangelistic Service(1:46:38) 5 - The Present Opportunity© 2026 Scroll Reader. Henry Clay Trumbull offers practical, Scripture-minded hints for Christian parents that challenged me in areas of child-training I hadn’t thought through as deeply—especially his call to help children form their own biblical convictions rather than merely borrowing ours. Chapters like Honoring a Child’s Individuality and Training a Child as a Questioner are especially thought-provoking, and even where you may not agree with every emphasis, Trumbull models a wise balance of gentleness and firmness. In an age when parenting counsel often drifts from Scripture, this book provides biblical perspective and usable guidance for shepherding the precious souls God has entrusted to us.Scroll Reader: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/training-the-childs-heart/Paperback/Kindle: https://amzn.to/4pppmGhChapters (0:00) Introduction (2:07) Preface (4:15) 1 - Child-Training: What Is It? “How can I read the Bible in a way that I enjoy it?” Edward Leigh Pell answers this question with plain, practical wisdom. He shows that real profit from Scripture does not come from duty alone, but from reading with attention, prayer, and delight. With clear illustrations and steady counsel, Pell clears away common misunderstandings and helps the Bible come alive—so that those who have long held it as a treasure may finally taste its sweetness.Paperback 📖: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G9DFPD74Scroll Reader 📜: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/art-of-enjoying-the-bible/Chapters 📑(0:00) 0 – Introduction(0:46) 1 – A Question of Pleasure(10:45) 2 – Getting Ready(22:07) 3 – Manner of Approach(27:50) 4 – The Matter of Method(42:45) 5 – Reading the Bible by Books(59:15) 6 – In Reading Particular Books of the Bible(1:32:44) 7 – Studying the Bible by Topics(1:38:59) 8 – The Topical Method Illustrated(1:59:47) 9 – One Way of Studying The Sunday School Lesson(2:06:08) 10 – Accounting for Difficulties(2:16:53) 11 – A Pair of Neglected Helps(2:22:58) 12 – Cultivating a Taste For The Bible in Little Children(2:31:45) 13 – When Family Worship Is A Pleasure(2:42:27) 14 – Additional Points© 2026 Scroll Reader. May is nineteen, and in a moment her whole life changes. Her guardian dies. Her little sister is taken in elsewhere. May herself is left with almost nothing—no income, no home, and no clear future. Then two very different doors open. One path seems safe and respectable: quiet work in another household, steady and hidden. The other path promises warmth, protection, and love—but also raises questions she cannot ignore.Set in Victorian England and reaching as far as Jerusalem, Was I Right? follows a young woman at the point in life where choices stop being dreams and start becoming consequences. It is a story of love, conscience, and what it costs to stay true to Christ when the heart is pulled in two directions.Paperback 📖: https://amzn.to/4oEsQ7hScroll Reader 📜: https://scrollreader.com/audiobook/was-i-right/Chapters 📑(0:00) Introduction(0:10) 1 - The Two Letters(19:22) 2 - My Choice(40:43) 3 - Was I Wrong?(59:03) 4 - Maggie’s Aunts(1:17:24) 5 - First Impressions(1:40:43) 6 - Alliston Hall(2:01:10) 7 - Conscience at Work(2:18:22) 8 - Alice Fitzgerald(2:34:50) 9 - Was The Promise Binding?(2:56:09) 10 - Evelyn’s Confession(3:18:29) 11 - The Opportunity Given(3:39:40) 12 - Brindisi(4:00:43) 13 - Was It He?(4:20:14) 14 - Jerusalem(4:43:30) 15 - My Olive-leaves(5:06:11) 16 - A Mystery(5:29:27) 17 - Sunday On Mount Zion(5:51:45) 18 - The Mystery Solved(6:15:00) 19 - Was I Right?© 2026 Scroll Reader.
