It’s been a year since Roxxanne stopped taking testosterone and decided to go back to living as a lesbian. What has changed? Does she regret her decision? Have things turned out the way she would have hoped? What is her life like now? This is a follow-up interview with Roxxanne Reed. Original interview link here. In this episode, I interview Marg Curnow of the lesbian organization, Lesbian Action for Visibility in Aotearoa (LAVA). In 2021, Hilary Oxley and Margaret Curnow, brought a claim to the New Zealand Human Rights Review Tribunal claiming discrimination against LAVA on the basis of LAVA’s political opinions. I believe it's important to support our rights as lesbians, no matter what location in the world we might live. Thank you to Marg for her time and her dedication to protecting lesbian rights. In this episode, my special guest is retired Judge Elspeth B. Cypher. She is the Board Secretary for the Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF ) and a member of the Gender Critical Law Society (GCLS). A radical feminist since college, Elspeth has spent a lifetime fighting for the rights of women and girls. Debbi met Jessi when Jessi was still living as a man, a trans man to be precise. It wasn’t what Debbi thought she wanted in a relationship, but there was something about Jessi that she couldn’t walk away from. Although Jessi had lived for over 2 decades as a man, all Debbi saw when she looked at her partner was the woman inside. The woman she loved. The woman she would support and encouraged to step back into the light. This might be a modern lesbian love story.Late BloomersLesbian Land:Jessi’s Detrans Story This is a public episode. In this episode, we will be discussing late bloomers. For those who may not be familiar with that term, it means a lesbian who comes out later in life. Since I am not one of these late bloomers, I came out at 21, I asked a couple of women I know who did come out later in life to sit down and have a chat with me. I want to give a big thank you to Vera and Debbie for coming on the podcast and being so open and honest about their experiences.Vera is the lead editor and founder of Jill Magazine. Back in the spring, I attended my local women’s march. It was after hearing that The Women’s March was being renamed The People’s March, in order to be more inclusive. I, like most women who care about women’s rights and the state of feminism, had heard my share of horror stories involving the infiltration of men and trans activism into women’s rights organizations. I decided that I should see for myself what attending one of these mainstream feminist events would be like. What follows is my experience that I documented at my local Women’s March. I want to give a mention to Women Are Real, whose flyers I handed out at this event. Buy Me a Coffee This is a public episode. What makes a lesbian butch? Is it just an identity? Purely aesthetic? Or is there something more? In this episode, I do a little thinking on how we define “butch”, and some problems I see with some definitions. Can it be clearly defined? Support the podcast at Buy Me A Coffee and Substack. Let’s talk about the word “queer”. Over the last decade, the “queer community” has been used instead of the “LGBT community”. Not everyone feels good about being called queer, myself included. “Queer” is said to be the more inclusive term to refer to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans identified people. But is that true? And where does the lesbian woman fit into this new inclusive community? My special guest, AJ, and I sit down for a chat about the term “queer”. AJ is an Australian lesbian in her early 30s with a lot to say on the subject. An interview with lesbian feminist and organizer Ann Menasche. Topics we discuss include her history and experience as a feminist and activist, the state of women's rights in 2025, the loss of lesbian community, and more. Support the podcast: Buy Me a Coffee Substack Ann Menasche is a lifelong radical feminist, lesbian, socialist, and pro-peace organizer and activist. She is a founding member and co-coordinator of a national member-run multi-issue radical feminist organization, Feminists in Struggle. She works as a civil rights attorney on behalf of tenants and unhoused people. Having been a victim of witchhunting - fired from her job after 20 years - for her belief that women & lesbians exist and have rights, Ann is a big defender of free speech for everyone. She is opposed to all witchhunting whether against feminists or pro-Palestinian activists.Ann is also committed to fighting the ideological enemies of feminism, whether coming from the far Right, from the Democrats (falsely seen as “the Left”) or from otherwise genuine progressives who have bought into the sexist & homophobic ideology of gender identity and have betrayed women.Feminists in Struggle (“FIST”): https://feministstruggle.org/ This is a public episode. Do you know about lesbian lands? Land that is owned and exists for lesbians only? I didn’t either until 5 years ago. In this conversation, I speak with Jessi a self-proclaimed “land dyke” and owner of a lesbian land in Oregon. We discuss the history of lesbian land, what is happening now with these lands, and what the future might bring.I decided not to put any links to information on lesbian land in the notes to preserve privacy. It always makes me very excited to see more publications for lesbians. Some months ago a lesbian friend of mine sent me a link to Jill Magazine's fund-raiser on Instagram. I liked what I saw and supported it. Ended up striking up a conversation with Vera, the creature of Jill, and decided I needed to have her on the pod to help launch the magazine. Like with all my interviews, we talk about many topics besides the magazine. I hope you enjoy and support the magazine. Jill is a thoughtfully curated English language print magazine for, by and about Lesbians… and our female allies. You can find out more about Jill Magazine online at www.jillmag.weebly.comTo support this project, or subscribe to the first issue, donate to Vera's GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/59d5433dYou can support the podcast by becoming a paid subscriber to my Substack or at Buy Me a Coffee.
