All 61: Staying Out West

After an episode earlier this week with Steve & Kevin talking about their trip to BC, we stay out in the WHL this time with Ryan Switzer as we catch up on everything happening in the WHL. Penticton has won their division title and is officially the best expansion team in CHL history. Memorial Cup host Kelowna after a rough first half has been one of the hotter teams in the second half but they all continue to chase Everett who has a 40+ point lead in the US division!Ryan asks Steve about Penticton but also wants to touch on a big story out of the QMJHL while Steve wants Ryan's opinion on the interleague news between the O & Q and whether the WHL could or should get in on it.Follow Ryan on twitter @ryan_switzerFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
It's a road trip episode of the pod! This past weekend Steve and Kevin headed out to British Columbia to see the expansion Penticton Vees and finish all 61 CHL arenas. But when they got there, they found out this isn't your typical expansion franchise. The guys also saw an AHL game in Abbotsford and were less impressed. Also checking out some former arenas in New Westminster and Kamloops and a couple others along the way.Plus, some news at notes about potential expansion teams as Chatham seems to be throwing their hat into the ring along with Cornwall and Vaughan. It's good to be at All 61!Follow Kevin on twitter @ohlarenaguideFollow the show on socials @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
The show rolls along catching up with each of the three CHL leagues. Today, Patrick McNeil is here to catch us all up on whats been happening in the QMJHL! His Eagles just spend a full week in Newfoundland first due to a strange travel schedule, then because of weather. The guy's touch on all 18 teams across the Q with Chicoutimi and Moncton holding a firm grasp at the top of the standings.Steve gets Patrick's take on the news of more interleague play between the O and Q and what he would like to see from it moving forward. Also, some arena news with renovations coming to Drummondville and Chicoutimi but renovations being held off a couple more years for Cape Breton.Follow Patrick on twitter @cbepbpFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
As we get back into a regular schedule with the podcast and pump out some content it's time to catch up with each league starting with the OHL and Steve Clark! The guys discuss how each team has fared since the trade deadline and how perhaps Brantford isn't the runaway favourite everyone thought they were early in the season. Also, a huge story breaking this week about more interleague play between the OHL and QMJHL possibly taking place next season, both Steve's give their take on the subject after there was much negative backlash online.Plus is Cornwall coming back to the OHL? A report from Mike Farwell this week indicates its possible!Follow Steve Clark on twitter @steveclarkmediaFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com

We finish off the 2026 trade deadline season by taking a close look at all the deals that went down in the OHL between the end of December and the January 9 deadline. Steve Clark is here to break it down for us on whether or not all these trades were the right moves or not. Meanwhile Steve Clark finds out mid recording that the league website wrote a piece on Steve McLean's recent 1,000th CHL game. Also, the guy's touch on last weekend's interleague play with the QMJHL and the recent death of longtime OHL Commissioner David Branch. You can find the article on Steve's 1,000th game here: Steve McLean’s CHL Journey: 1,000 Games and Counting - Ontario Hockey LeagueFollow Steve on twitter @steveclarkmediaFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
The WHL trade deadline has come and gone and it perhaps wasn't quite as insane as the Q or O but Ryan Switzer is here to break it all down for us as his Broncos have been having a very tough go of things as of late as have the Prince George Cougars who have lost 7 straight. On the flip side the Medicine Hat Tigers have won 17 in a row! Expansion Penticton has won 9 straight while Everett continues to cruise in the western conference.Follow Ryan on twitter @ryan_switzerFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
A little bit later than planned this week but we are finally back with a new episode of the podcast as we had back to the QMJHL to cover all the big moves from their recent trading window (it works different in the Q than in the other two leagues). Patrick McNeil is here to break down the trades that the big-time buyers made as well as talk about a suddenly surging Cape Breton Eagles and some QMJHL press box view talk.Follow Patrick on twitter @cbepbpFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website at all60chlpod.com

We head east this week to catch up on everything going on in the QMJHL with Cape Breton's own Patrick McNeil. The Eagles are on a five-game winning streak, but nobody is hotter than the defending league champion Moncton Wildcats. The trade window opens next week; Halifax and Charlottetown have some issues getting to Newfoundland and the Drummondville Voltigeurs take the first Coupe 55 in an event many say was great, except for the attendance.Follow Patrick on twitter @cbepbpFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com

After a month of QMJHL, Newfoundland and Guelph Storm Memorial Cup talk it's time for the show to head back out west and check in on the WHL with Swift Current's own Ryan Switzer!Unfortunately for Ryan his Swift Current Broncos are having a bad time, last in the league, a resigned head coach due to misconduct and since this recording session even gave up a goalie goal! Meanwhile the Memorial Cup host Kelowna Rockets seem to have turned a corner with a very solid month of November along with some trades, though one of those trades has blown up in their face a tad.The guys discuss where all the teams are at and all the trades that went down in the month of November. You can follow Ryan on twitter @ryan_switzerYou can follow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
BONUS EPISODEAfter taking last week off we come back with two episodes this week. First in this episode Steve sat down with the Vice President, Business Operations with the Guelph Storm Matt Newby as he takes Steve through every detail of the Guelph Storm's successful bid to host the 2027 Memorial Cup as well as some of his favourite moments with the Storm franchise since joining in 1999.You can follow the show on social media @all60chlpodAlso visit our website at all60chlpod.com
That's right the 2027 Memorial Cup is going to be hosted by the Guelph Storm and Steve McLean is pretty stoked about it. While we hear Steve's reaction to Guelph winning the bid most of this episode was recorded before the announcement. Steve Clark is here as the guys discuss the ugly stick swinging incident in Brampton, more USHL speculation, Lansdowne 2.0, Alan Letang's firing in Sarnia and a rundown of what's actually going on out on the ice. Brantford STILL hasn't lost in regulation.Follow Steve Clark on twitter @steveclarkmediaFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodVisit our website all60chlpod.com
The big trip is finally here. Steve & Kevin are in Newfoundland to take in a pair of Regiment games against the Cape Breton Eagles, so Patrick McNeil is here too! The guys discuss their time on the rock both this weekend and in the past but also touch on some of the news regarding the CHL and the USHL. Also, Steve had the chance to interview Owner/President of the Newfoundland Regiment Glenn Stanford. This is a hockey podcast, right? Yes, the World Series is over, and the Blue Jays lost but Patrick McNeil is here, and he might be the only person from the All 61 team not devastated by the loss. Instead, Patrick is here to help catch us up on all things QMJHL including the bad starts by his own Cape Breton Eagles and the Baie Comeau Drakkar who finally won some games! Is Charlottetown's great start sustainable? Caleb Desnoyers is gone as quick as he came back and the first QMJHL top prospects game was a bit of a barn burner, not that we look back on the stats from it.Follow Patrick on twitter @cbepbpFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
It's a WHL week on All 61: A CHL Podcast but Steve & Ryan have full on Blue Jays World Series fever and chat a bit about that before getting down to business with the WHL. Rylan Gould has returned from the NCAA and is now a member of the Silvertips, is he the first of many?Prince Albert is off to a great start as the only undefeated team in regulation so far this season. Portland FINALLY had their home opener after an 11 game road trip to start the season. Also, the guys find out while recording that the NHL has gotten the CHL & USHL big wigs in a room together to discuss the future!Follow Ryan Switzer on twitter @ryan_switzerFollow the show on social media @all60chlpodCheck out our website all60chlpod.com
