A Friday edition of the show this week as schedule conflicts in the end helped out with some extra news dropping mid-week. Patrick McNeil is back to talk some QMJHL and cover what's been happening around the league since the regular season kicked off three weeks ago. The rosters have dropped for the first QMJHL Top Prospects game on October 21 in Sherbrooke. While Newfoundland is unsurprisingly off to a good start on home ice Chicoutimi and Victoriaville continue their long road trips to start the season. With the Memorial Cup behind us its time to kick back and enjoy summer. But before we do we invited back unapologetic Knights fan Kevin Jordan to get his thoughts on seeing his favourite team win a third Memorial Cup Championship in 20 years. But Kevin isn't just here to gloat about another glorious Knights victory. He and Steve have a lot of thoughts about the state of players jumping back and forth between the CHL and NCAA and what things might look like in the future. Plus an early look at their travel plans for the 2025-26 season. The London Knights are the 2025 Memorial Cup Champions after a pretty convincing 4-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers in Sunday's tournament final. Steve & Patrick check in with their pre-game thoughts before fast forwarding to the post game breakdown and are eventually joined by Will MacLaren from The Hockey News.It's been an amazing week here in Rimouski and we'd like to thank all of you for tuning in!One more episode before we take a summer vacation.
A loaded episode today on All 60 as our Memorial Cup coverage continues. The London Knights defeat the Moncton Wildcats 5-2 in the semi final and will face off against the Medicine Hat Tigers in the championship final on Sunday. Steve and Patrick break down the semi final but in the middle we bring in James Tubb from the Medicine Hat news on his perspective on the tournament so far.The guys finish things off with yet more NCAA talk after the concerning news of more big name CHL players making the jump.
The round robin portion of the Memorial Cup came to an end on Wednesday night.Steve and Patrick look back at Tuesday nights game between London and Medicine Hat as Medicine Hat finishes 3-0 to get the bye to the final, the first for a WHL team since 2009. Then in Wednesday's round robin finale Moncton gets the better of the host Rimouski Oceanic who's impressive season comes to an end.The guys tee up Fridays semi final between London and Moncton.
Michel Germain has been the radio play by play voice of the Rimouski Oceanic for their entire 30 year history. When this tournament is over however he is hanging up the microphone and calling it a career. Steve and Patrick talk to Michel about his 30 years as the Oceanic play by play announcer, helping make his broadcast user friendly for parents of English speaking players and of course the charity named after his late daughter that helps feed the less fortunate in the area. Before Monday nights game Steve and Patrick look back at the highly intense bout from Sunday night between the London Knights and the Rimouski Oceanic, then post game its time to break down the Moncton Wildcats and the Medicine Hat Tigers!London and Moncton now both sit at 2-0 while the Q teams of Moncton and Rimouski are 0-2.
