Description

The Rested Rebel Podcast is where urgency dissolves and rhythm returns. Each episode offers short, bite size meditations such as Yoga Nidra, nervous system resets, and moon rituals, woven with raw reflections on burnout, healing, and the wild beauty of being human. This is rest with an edge: tender, radical, and real.
Created and hosted by Nikki of @restedrebel, these practices are born from my own journey of slowing down after running too fast. Episodes drop in rhythm, not on demand. Because rest is not another task, it is a way back to yourself.

Tonight’s full moon pulls old fear to the surface. Not the obvious fear. The quiet fear that rises when things begin to work. The fear of success. The fear of not knowing how long it will last.In Jin Shin Jyutsu the index finger is connected to fear. When you hold it you are asking the fear to speak rather than control you.You are asking it to show you where it began. You are letting it guide you inward instead of shutting your system down. This three minute ritual is simple.Hold the index finger.Breathe slowly.Let your fear soften enough to be understood.Let the full moon illuminate what you are ready to releaseand what you are ready to grow into. Episode Title: MoonNidra – The Body Remembers SafetyTheme: Taurus Moon | Resting into what is realLength: 20 minutesBody Focus: Throat, neck, and lower bodyThis MoonNidra marks a gentle milestone — my first week teaching again in my new hometown, Ronneby, and the beginning of our Yellowmoon Practice Journey Yogakurs, a twelve class exploration through the Five Elements: Earth, Wood, Metal, Fire and Water. We begin with Earth, and the timing could not be more aligned with the Taurus Moon. Both teach us how to stay close to what is steady and to rebuild from simplicity. This practice is an invitation to slow down, to trust your rhythm, and to let the body remember how safety feels.Taurus energy lives through the throat and neck, the bridge between thought and expression. When this space softens, the voice returns, the nervous system settles, and a deep inner calm begins to rise.In this episode I also share a few quiet updates:teaching again at Yellowmoon Studio in Ronneby, offering Spinal Energetics sessions, and returning to Lund for my first post-COVID workshop since closing my studio there. Each moment feels like part of a wider circle — teaching from the heart, creating again, and allowing life to flow as it is.If this practice resonates, join Sunday Reset,my weekly letter about rest, rhythm, and what the elements are teaching us each week. You can subscribe on Substack or explore more at nikkileeboklund.com. October’s Full Moon always arrives with contrast. The air sharpens, the light shifts, and everything in nature begins to move. Storm Amy sweeps across Europe this week, and the winds mirror what many of us feel inside: a stirring, a restlessness, a call to release what no longer needs to be carried.Autumn is the season of Vata — the dosha of air, space, movement, and transition. It is a time when we are invited to slow down even as the world around us speeds up. To anchor deeper even as the winds swirl. To trust that stillness is not the absence of motion but the steady centre beneath it.This is the heart of this week’s MoonNidra. It is a guided practice designed to help you find that still point. To soften the impulse to control. To honour what has grown. To release what is ready to fall away. And to receive what has been waiting to arrive. This practice is not about fixing or improving. It is an invitation to remember. To return. To rest.Practice Focus* Body focus: Heart and upper back, the landscape of receiving, emotional steadiness, and soft expansion.* Theme: Stillness amidst movement, receiving light, releasing control.* Seasonal support: Full Moon in October, Harvest energy, Vata season, storm clearing.Journal PromptAs the winds shift and the season changes, take a moment to notice what offers you stillness. It might be a breath that grounds you, a simple daily ritual, or a space that feels deeply safe and steady.Ask yourself:* What anchors me when everything around me is moving* What does enough feel like in my body right now* What am I ready to release so I can receive more fullyIf this practice resonates, share it with someone who needs a reminder that calm isn’t something we wait for, it’s something we return to, again and again.xxNikki This is a public episode. Episode: MoonNidra Prayer — Clarity in the Light of the Corn MoonLength: ~15 minutesThis week’s MoonNidra comes in a different form. Normally a meditation, tonight it arrives as a prayer — written under the September Corn Moon.Feel free to rest in a lying position, close your eyes, and simply receive. Let this prayer be a moment of stillness, and a doorway into rest.Inside you’ll hear:Why prayer itself is a form of surrenderHow the Corn Moon reminds us of harvest, clarity, and cycles renewedWhat to do when fear of mistakes clouds your choicesThe invitation to trust one step at a time, as the moon lights your wayA simple prayer, offered as practice. Episode 2 of 4 — Suits of the Body: Cups × Sacral ChakraThe Suit of Cups speaks in the language of the heart — love, grief, joy, longing. In Tarot, it mirrors the tides of water: sometimes spilling over, sometimes still and deep.Your sacral chakra — Svadhisthana — is the vessel for these waters. Located in the pelvic bowl, it’s the seat of creativity, emotion, and feminine energy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Water element is the deepest reservoir. It teaches us adaptability, patience, and the quiet gathering of strength. In this practice, you’ll be guided to:Rest awareness in your pelvic bowlFeel your inner waters held, contained, and supportedRelease the need to rush your emotional processRemember the rhythm of stillness and motionThis is the feminine tide — the ebb and flow that nourishes life itself. This is Episode 2 of 4 in the Suits of the Body series. I’m back — and taking this opportunity to step into the 8/8 portal with intention, softness, and something I’ve been waiting to share. Let’s reset our idea of the Pentacle suits. This suit is not just about money. It’s about what you need to live on this Earth — in a body, with breath, with rhythm.Physical health.A sound mind.A safe place to land.Food that nourishes.Work that sustains.Rest that restores. This is how the Earth provides —quietly, steadily, without asking for performance. The Suit of Pentacles is Earth energy. It mirrors the Root Chakra — Muladhara —the energetic home of safety, stability, and enoughness. This is where we hold early survival scripts:of fear, disconnection, scarcity, and control. And this is also where we begin again. This Nidra isn’t about manifesting wealth. It’s about softening the grip around survival. It’s about letting the Earth hold you — and remembering that you are already supported.About This PracticeThis guided Yoga Nidra leads you through the Root Chakra using grounding cues, breath awareness, and nervous system support.Use this session when you feel:* Unsafe in your body* Caught in scarcity or control loops* Disconnected from rest* Like you’re “not allowed” to receiveLet the weight of “not enough” drop back into the soil.Let your system re-root.Journal prompt:Where am I ready to receive without effort? This series is free and open to all listeners.Follow on Substack to receive each drop in your inbox every Friday. The full 22-episode Arcana Nidra journey will be part of the upcoming paid tier.Details coming soon. Welcome to June. This week’s Nidra meets the Waxing Crescent Moon —a tender return of light after the dark. Our body focus is the lower back and spine —the structures that hold us upright, and the ones that quietly ask for rest when we carry too much. This practice is part of a month-long theme:Resting in the Light. Each week in June, we’ll meet a different part of the body, listening gently for what it needs to feel safe, supported, and steady again.Let this be your pause.Let the spine soften.Let breath move where tension once lived.🌿 The Clarity Pack is now open —a 21-day journey to reset your nervous system and reclaim your energy.Learn more hereWith love,Nikki This is a public episode. This week’s MoonNidra arrives with the New Moon —a time of stillness, soft resets, and unseen beginnings. In the Vedic sky, this moon rests in Krittika Nakshatra —a solar fire that clears space for truth.Krittika means “the cutters” — an energy that doesn’t rush, but refines. Our body focus is the pelvis and lower belly —the place where rest is most physical. Most primal.Where you don’t think — you feel.Where you don’t push — you hold. This week’s Nidra is longer.A 20-minute guided rest — unedited, unpolished, live. You’ll move through a gentle full-body scan, visualization, and quiet affirmations —a place to drop, not decide. You don’t have to name the seed. You don’t have to make it grow.Just let it rest in the dark.🎧 Listen now: The Seed Beneath the Stillness[Insert audio player or podcast link here]🧭 What Is Yoga Nidra?Traditional Yoga Nidra moves through a subtle rhythm:Stillness → Intention (Sankalpa) → Body awareness → Breath → Withdrawal → Visualization → Return.MoonNidra honors this rhythm —but lets the moon, the body, and the emotional climate lead. Each session:* Follows the current moon phase* Focuses on one part of the body* Moves gently through:Intro → Breath → Body Scan → Visualization → Rest → ReturnThis is rest for real life.No edits. No expectations. Just breath and body and moon.🌱 What’s NextI had planned to open subscriptions in June — but I’ve decided to wait. The Clarity Pack launch is around the corner, and I want to give that space to bloom first.MoonNidra will remain free for now.Still weekly. MoonNidra | May 19 – Rest in the Quiet of the EmptyingThis week’s practice meets you in the waning moon —the soft in-between space where the light fades and the invitation is simple:Let go. Come down. Do less.We focus on the legs, feet, and the deep inner core —especially the psoas, a muscle tied to emotion, movement, and the parasympathetic nervous system. When this part of you settles, the rest often follows. This Nidra is part of the REST Method —a rhythm of rest that gently moves through four phases:Restart, Engage, Tune-In, and Silence. What we explore:Grounding through the legs and feetLetting go without needing to solve anythingA quiet moment for nervous system repairThe permission to just rest — no performance, no pressureYou don’t need to fix anything. Just come lie down. Or close your eyes. Or listen in from wherever you are.Your body knows how to return.Let it.Subscribe to the full MoonNidra series atnikkileeboklund.substack.comLearn more about the REST Method atnikkileeboklund.com (or wherever you choose to house it) This is a public episode. Thumb Travel

Thumb Travel

2025-01-0605:19

Hey, travel enthusiasts! It's Nikki here, sharing a personal journey and a powerful tool I’ve discovered which has helped me tremendously with travel anxiety. As I prepare for my upcoming flight from Malaysia to Australia, I want to share this wonderful practice from the art of Jin Shin Jutsu. It’s a five-finger meditation technique that has been part of my personal routine for the past three to four years. Join me as I dive into the world of thumb meditation – a simple yet effective way to manage anxiety during travel. Understanding The Thumb MeditationJust like many of you, I’ve faced the intense jitters before a flight. Anxiety and panic attacks have often tagged along as unwelcome travel companions. But fret not, because this thumb meditation can help alleviate those fears. The thumb acts as a connection to your stomach and spleen, which, according to Chinese medicine, govern emotions like fear and anxiety. Your stomach flutters not because of excitement, but often because of nerves, and here's how you can manage that. Step-By-Step Guide to Thumb Meditation 1. Find Your Comfort ZoneStart by finding a comfortable position. You can do this meditation standing or seated. It’s all about what feels best for you in the moment. 2. Engage with Your ThumbGrasp your thumb gently in your opposite hand. Allow yourself to focus on warming up the thumb. Feel the sensation, perhaps in the side of your head or hand that’s holding your thumb. 3. Breathe DeeplyBegin to breathe deeply in and out. Let the rhythm of your breath guide you into a deeper experience. Allow each breath to harmonize with your body. 4. Feel the PulsePay attention; you might feel a soft pulse in your thumb, a connection to your heartbeat. Try to listen to the rhythm in your hands and synchronize with it. 5. Arrival into Your BodyAs you become more aware, you’ll feel a sensation of arrival inside your body. Notice how your shoulders relax and how you become attuned above the surrounding noises. Reset and RestartMeditation practices like this serve to reset our mental state, allowing us to feel more in control. It’s similar to flipping a switch in your brain that helps you move forward without fear. Once you feel synchronized – and you’ll know when you do – gently release your thumb, perhaps rub your hands together, open your eyes, and embrace your day with renewed energy. Final Thoughts & A Little Extra As the new year takes flight, I wish you all safe and serene travels. Today marks the sixth day of new beginnings, and it’s the perfect time to introduce my new ebook, 31 Tiny Rituals for Everyday Calm. It’s packed with rituals like these and includes voice notes to guide you daily. Thank you for joining me on this tranquil journey, and may your travels be as calming as your inner peace. Until next time, safe travels!xxNikki This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit restedrebel.substack.com
2025 is what it is!

2025 is what it is!

2025-01-0100:30

2025 feels like a bridge to something bigger, brighter, and (hopefully) less chaotic. My business is thriving here in this quaint little town, where life moves slower but somehow my to-do list still grows faster than my houseplants. It’s been rewarding to see my work take root locally, proving that even in a quiet corner of the world, big things can happen.Meanwhile, my digital platform has started to catch on—like sourdough in 2020. With courses, eBooks, and podcasts brewing, it’s been amazing to connect with people far beyond my little bubble. Turns out, you don’t need a big city to make a big impact—just Wi-Fi and a lot of tea. This year, my focus is simple: stay on the path and keep things flowing. 2024 was all about clearing and resetting, and now it’s time to build on that foundation. I’m showing up consistently, doing the work, and keeping the wheels turning—even if it sometimes feels like they’re powered by yesterday’s caffeine. What’s in store? Oh, plenty. For our growing community (near and far):* Digital courses, eBooks, and live online classes with Body OS, an exciting platform connecting practitioners from California to Abu Dhabi.* Fresh audio meditation podcasts to help you find your calm—even if the kids are yelling in the next room. And closer to home, you’ll find me holding it down with:* Four weekly classes at Yellowmoon Yoga & Massage.* A range of holistic therapies to reset, relax, and feel like a human again.* Monthly meet-ups for connection, community, and maybe some chai (if I haven’t hoarded it all).If you’re curious about my eBook Tiny Rituals for Big Shifts, here’s the link: It’s got everything you need to make life feel a little less "meh" and a lot more magical. Think small rituals, big transformations, and plenty of permission to be perfectly imperfect.or you can purchase it HEREOh, and speaking of travel—tomorrow I’m heading to Kuala Lumpur, en route to Melbourne and Sydney, to visit friends and family. If you don’t hear from me for a bit, just know I’m probably knee-deep in coffee and conversations, soaking up the good stuff before diving back into work. Here’s to a 2025 filled with flow, fun, and maybe a few naps in between. What’s your big focus this year? Let me know—I’ll cheer you on with my chai in hand! 🌟✨ This is a public episode.
