The Washington Capitals have finally found a scoring touch and have seemingly bucked the bad puck luck they were having during the start of the season as they have turned in a perfect week. Caps got scoring from all over the lineup including a 10 game point streak and 5 game goal streak by Jacob Chychrun.
This week brings the Caps into a divisional playoff spot at least for the time being as the Metro division and the Eastern Conference in general is a bloodbath.

The Caps had a much better week even though they were busy and had to play yet another back-to-back matchup with the Oilers and then immediately after, the Canadiens. The Capitals secured 6 of the possible 8 points available and while this isn't perfect, it's still a big improvement.

Existence is pain everybody. The Caps are struggling right now to produce points on the ice and in the standings. It's grim. The highlight of the team is definitely 5on5 play and goaltending which you would think would be enough to earn some standings points but it's not.
The Metropolitan Division is stacked right now with every team in the division at least with a .500 record. The Washington Capitals are dead last in the division and in the basement of the conference.
There's a ton of hockey left to play but it would be regretful to lose out on the playoffs due to a bad stretch at the beginning of the season.
Let's all lament together!

THE NHL IS BACK!!!
Thanks for tuning in Caps fans! We're glad to be back for season 7 of The Official Caps Chirp Podcast. We're kicking this season off with a bit of a look at preseason for the Caps where they went 5-1 and we'll get into the regular season where the Caps face the Boston Bruins on Wednesday Oct. 8. The Bruins are the only team that the Caps lost to in the preseason so it should be a great matchup to kick off the 2025-2026 NHL season.
We'll also be joined by Josh Marshall and Brandon Kaufman, 2 Penguins fans, who will share their, probably terrible, insight on the Caps from the outside looking in.

The NHL Conference finals are in full swing and we're going to talk all about it. In the West the Edmonton Oilers lead the series 2-1. After dropping a multi goal lead to the Dallas Stars in game 1, the Oilers have charged back and won the last 2 games in convincing fashion. Dallas isn't out of it yet, but they definitely need some of that magic Rantanen power to get them back on track.
In the East, the Carolina Hurricanes have turned a hump into Mount Everest as they can seemingly not figure the ECF's out. They are down 3-0 in their series against Florida and haven't won an ECF in 15 straight games. That's insane. If they get swept I'd look for some big changes to the team in the off season.
Beyond the NHL, in IIHF World Championship news: the USA has snapped a 92 year drought and brought home gold in the tournament. Canada didn't even medal so we'll be gloating all about that too.

A top that list is obviously Ovechkin breaking the goal scoring record, but the Caps over performed this season when everyone thought they'd be dust. Combine that with the power of friendship that has propelled this team to new heights and the Caps have a lot to be proud of.
