Stu and Marc are joined by comedian Katie Boyle. An Irishwoman who's been based in New York for over 10 years, Katie describes the how Irish banter and flirting could often be mistaken for meanness when on dates with overly-sincere New Yorkers more used to trauma dumping than a bit of craic. She explains how she worked up the ranks on the New York scene - producing her own specials before landing a slot on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (and the way she got the booker's attention that's unlikely to be replicable), how discussing abortion on Irish TV led to a rightwing Christian backlash online led by Conor McGregor, and why Halloween has it's (turnip) roots in Irish folklore. You can watch Katie's specials and look out for upcoming stand-up dates here: https://www.katieboylecomic.com/Marc has various Scottish stand-up tour dates on sale now: https://www.marcjenningscomedy.com/liveSign up to our Patreon for fortnightly bonus eps plus footage from all the Some Laugh Live shows: https://www.patreon.com/somelaughSome Laugh Merch Available Now: https://visualanticsapparel.com/collections/some-laugh-podcastYou can watch the boays' stand-up specials for free here on the Some Laugh YouTube channel : https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM6lKn8dnMK5bOtlX-3XlCpZSf-B_qweQ&si=JjKknRTZvvza5l55

Marc is joined by author and journalist Jon Ronson. They discuss Jon's new book "The Castle: Adventures in a World of Unravelling Men", explore examples of people who've been led towards extremism through "chasing the algorithm", and how the changing media landscape has contributed to lack of purpose, particularly amongst men. Plus, Jon reflects on the impact of some of his previous works including "Them" and "So You've Been Publicly Shamed", explains how Olivia Rodrigo helped him through the perils of both a gruelling tour schedule and a stint in hospital, and addresses the challenge writers face between "putting yourself into a story" versus being overly self-indulgent."The Castle: Adventures in a World of Unravelling Men" is out now to read or listen to on audiobook: https://jonronson.com/book/the-castle/Marc Jennings"If & When" stand-up shows: https://www.marcjenningscomedy.com/liveMarc's interview with Adam Curtis: https://open.spotify.com/episode/22lsV2Pfvf8UyLzWwN8jNMSign up to our Patreon for fortnightly bonus eps plus footage from all the Some Laugh Live shows: https://www.patreon.com/somelaughSome Laugh Merch Available Now: https://visualanticsapparel.com/collections/some-laugh-podcastYou can watch the boays' stand-up specials for free here on the Some Laugh YouTube channel : https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM6lKn8dnMK5bOtlX-3XlCpZSf-B_qweQ&si=JjKknRTZvvza5l55
