Description

Welcome to God Is Alive, a Christian podcast for believers and nonbelievers! I'm Serena, a 23-year-old college student who speaks about the truth. Here, we believe the truth is the Word of God. We explore all the ways God is still active today by learning how to have a relationship with Him. We dive into how to read the Bible, communicate with God, and ultimately discover the joy of having a genuine relationship with a God who is alive, active, and loves you!

I post new episodes every week!

So often I beg God for a breakthrough, and when He answers, I barely even stop to recognize it before moving on to the next problem. Maybe you’ve done the same, treating victories like they weren’t enough. In this episode, I talk about Joshua 4 and why God told His people to mark the miracle with stones of remembrance. We need to pause and remember what He’s already done, because those reminders give us faith for the battles still ahead.Today’s Song of the Day is “Testify” by NEEDTOBREATHE
Have you ever looked at something God asked you to do and thought, “Why me?” It’s easy to feel unprepared, insecure, and afraid. But the truth is, if we were fully prepared, we wouldn’t need God’s help. In this episode, I talk about Joshua’s example of stepping forward even when he didn’t feel qualified, and how God calls us to rely on His strength instead of our own. Courage isn’t pretending to be strong; it’s trusting God’s presence even when we feel weak.Today’s Song of the Day is “Good Good Father” by Chris Tomlin
When I read about people like Joshua or Paul, it’s easy to think they were extraordinary, and I’m just ordinary. That I’m too weak or too unqualified. However, the truth is, they probably felt just as ordinary as we do. Their strength came from trusting God’s presence, not their own ability. That’s why today I’m talking all about what it means to step into our bigger callings with faith, how God’s promises to Joshua still apply to us today, and why courage is really about obedience to the God who goes with us!Today’s Song of the Day is “SIMPLE” by ELEVATION RHYTHM and Joe L Barnes
I catch myself reaching for my phone without even thinking! First thing in the morning, when I’m stressed, or to fill the quiet. But the more I scroll, the emptier I feel. Today, I’m sharing why our phones can never give us the peace we’re chasing and how Scripture calls us to slow down and be still before God. I mean, even Jesus stepped away from the noise to be with the Father. If He needed it, then we definitely do!Today’s Song of the Day is “Empty as the Grave” by Josiah Queen
Faith doesn’t mean we always see the way forward; it meanstrusting the One who does. The hardest part of faith is often the unknown: What if it doesn’t work? What if I mess up? What if the outcome isn’t what I hoped for? But Scripture reminds us that faith isn’t about predicting the future,it’s about knowing who’s in control. In this episode, I talk about why faith is less about seeing the road ahead and more about trusting the God who guides every step. Today’s Song of the Day is “Slow Me Down” by The Band JAREN
Sometimes the hardest part of faith is how foolish it looks. Obedience to God often doesn’t make sense to the world. Whether it’s forgiving when it seems easier to hold a grudge or surrendering control when you’d rather take charge. Scripture is full of examples: marching around Jericho, Noah building an ark, and even Jesus on the cross. To outsiders, faith can look ridiculous! But it’s often the very thing God uses to reveal His power. In this episode, I talk about why faith doesn’t have to be understood to be real. Today’s Song of the Day is “Fight Of My Life” by Rend Collective
So many of us measure our worth by what we do, such as our successes, our failures, and our performance. But that constant striving only leads to burnout, insecurity, and shame. God’s view of your worth isn’t based on how well you perform! It’s based on who He says you are. In this episode, I talk about why we confuse grace with performance, that our value isn’t earned, and what it looks like to rest in God’s already given love!Today’s Song of the Day is “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll
Should Christians be trying to live sin-free lives? In this episode, I discuss why sanctification is a refining process, how stumbling is a natural part of growth, and why the ultimate goal is a Spirit-led life, not a sin-free one. If you’ve ever wrestled with guilt and wondered if you’re enough, this conversation will bring freedom. Hebrews reminds us that sin always overpromises and underdelivers, but the answer isn’t perfection; it’s faithfulness. God never expected us to be flawless, but rather to keep choosing Him, even in the midst of struggle. Today’s Song of the Day is “I need you more” by Josiah Queen and Henrik
A lot of us say, “I don’t know what God is calling me to do” oreven “I know what God is calling me to do,” but maybe the real question is, can we obey fully even if we don’t have all the details? Abraham had to trust God without a map, and so do we. Faith means trusting the One who makes the way,not needing to see every step. In this episode, I talk about how obedience often comes before direction, why we sometimes confuse God’s will with our desire for control, and how to start walking in His calling!Today’s Song of the Day is “Can’t Steal My Joy” by Josiah Queen and Brandon Lake
It’s easy to feel far from God, to maybe feel like He’s disappointed, frustrated, or pulling away because we’ve messed up again. That spiritual anxiety makes us think our relationship with Him is a contract: “If I keep my end, He’ll keep His.” But Hebrews and Jeremiah remind us that God’s covenant isn’t built on our perfection; it’s built on His promise. In this episode, I talk about what it means to live like forgiveness is already ours, why we don’t have to earn God’s love, and how we can confidently draw near to Him.Today’s Song of the Day is “I Am Yours” by NEEDTOBREATHE
When you’re reading the Bible, it’s easy to skip over genealogies, priests, and sacrifices and wonder why they matter. However, Hebrews reveals a larger purpose behind the old priestly system, pointing to something far greater. The sacrifices never fully solved the problem of sin, but they set the stage for the One who would. In this episode, I delve into the origins of the priesthood, its significance for Israel, and what it reveals about Jesus for us today. Today’s Song of the Day is “Growing Pains Pt.2” by LEVATIONRHYTHM and Mitch Wong
Trusting God sounds simple, but living it out is one of the hardest things we face. Abraham knew that struggle, and even though he was promised descendants, he waited years with no sign of change. I mention Hebrews 6 because it points us to the hope Abraham held onto, a hope that didn’t come from what he could see, but from the God who promised. In this episode, I talk about what it really means to trust God when life feels silent, and why His faithfulness is stronger than our doubts.Today’s Song of the Day is “Trust in God” by Elevation Worship and Chris Brown
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active! Many of us are seeking to find ourselves through style, success, or self-discovery. But what if the answer isn’t found in a mirror? In this episode, I’m sharing how we truly find ourselves by looking at Jesus. He shows us who we were created to be, which is to be loved, valued, and made to reflect His nature. We don’t need a better version of ourselves; we just need a clearer view of Him.Today’s Song of the Day is “Lead Me” by Santus Real

Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!I know what it feels like to want to avoid God when we’re struggling or ashamed. But God already sees everything and still invites us close. In today’s episode, I’m sharing how we don’t have to fix ourselves up or hide what we feel. God fully sees us, fully knows us, and fully welcomes us. When we draw near to Him, He meets us with grace, not judgment. That’s the God we get to come close to.Today’s Song of the Day is “Your Cross Is Everything” by The Band JAREN
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!I’ll be honest, I like being comfortable. I like staying in what feels safe. But growth doesn’t happen there. Jesus Himself grew through suffering, and if He went through pain, why do we think we won’t? In this episode, I’m sharing how God uses our hardships not to punish us, but to grow us. We can either avoid what’s hard or step into it knowing He’s with us, helping us grow stronger through what feels uncomfortable.Today’s Song of the Day is “Forgiven” by Crowder
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!I’ve been there just wanting a clear sign from God. Something obvious. But the truth is, God already spoke through Jesus. He’s not distant or silent. He’s holding the entire universe together and still speaks through His Word today. In this episode, I’m sharing how we don’t need to wait for thunder or signs to know God’s heart. We can trust what He’s already said and hold onto His mercy when life feels like it’s falling apart.Today’s Song of the Day is “Survivor” by Zach Williams
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!I know what it’s like to feel burnt out and overwhelmed when it comes to reading the Bible. Life is busy, and sometimes it feels easier to scroll than open the Word. But God isn’t asking us to read out of obligation, He wants to meet with us. In this episode, I’m sharing how I approach the Bible without turning it into a chore, and how you can find peace and refreshment in His presence again.Today’s Song of the Day is “PRAISES (remix)” by ELEVATION RHYTHM & Forrest Frank
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!Even when we’re saved, we’re still human. We still feel tempted. We still want things God asks us to walk away from. That doesn’t make you weak—it proves the war is real. In this episode, I talk about how freedom isn’t the absence of temptation, but trusting God even when the desire is still there. The enemy wants you to feel ashamed of your craving. But Jesus wants you to bring it to Him. You’re not defined by the pull—you’re defined by who you belong to.Today’s Song of the Day is “What I Was Made For” by Rend Collective
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active! Our world chases power, status, and strength. Then the cross shows up—bloody, weak, and nailed to a criminal’s death. It looks like failure. But that’s where the gospel flips everything. In this episode, I talk about why the cross sounds foolish to the world but is the power of God to save. Humility over pride. Surrender over strength. Love over control. The cross is offensive because it tells us we can’t save ourselves, but it also tells us we’re already loved. Today’s Song of the Day is “Money Can’t Buy” by Cochren & Co.
Hi, my loves! Welcome, or welcome back, to God Is Alive! My name is Serena :) Here, I speak about God, including how He is alive and active!Have you ever looked around and thought, What am I even doing here? This world is loud, fast, and full of pressure to prove your worth. But just because you feel small doesn’t mean you are. In this episode, I talk about the crisis that hits when life feels too big and you feel too behind—and how God doesn’t measure your value by your pace, productivity, or platform. You are already worthy. You’re not too late. And none of this hustle defines you.Today’s Song of the Day is “Another One” by ElevationWorship & Chris Brown
