Well, let me explain: It's that I love to be near it, to see it, to observe it with a clinical eye. I feel strongly sympathetic toward people who are severely and emotionally and psychologically ill. I see pathology as an expressionist and Cubist rendition of reality." Author: Jennifer Barnett, Alexis Willett Narrator: Jane Slavin Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 40 mins Language: English Release date: 12-07-17 Publisher: Little Brown Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: How Much Brain Do We Really Need? challenges you to think differently about the brain. Rather than solely concentrating on the many wonderful things the brain can do, it asks whether in fact we can live satisfactorily without some of it. It turns out that brain shrinkage, for instance, is no rare thing. While the bad news for all of us is that from our mid-30s our brains start to shrink, the good news is that somehow we generally still seem to muddle along. But how can this be? Does this mean we don't really need all of our brain? How Much Brain Do We Really Need? aims to shed light on what the human brain can do - in both optimal and suboptimal conditions and in the past, present and future - and considers what it may do without. To help you decide how much brain we really need, you'll be presented with facts and figures, case studies and hypothetical scenarios, expert interviews and scientific principles. You'll be taken on a journey from the ancient mists of time to the far reaches of the future, via different species and lands. This book reflects on why we have so much brain in the first place and what distinguishes us from other species. It considers how we define what a working brain needs to be able to do, from the basics of survival to the highest levels of human achievement. And by looking at what is known about normal variation in brain function and assessing it alongside cases of people who live without wholly functioning brains, it ponders whether we need so much brain and whether a little bit of shrinkage does us any harm after all. To round things off, the authors dust off their crystal ball to contemplate future possibilities for the human brain. How Much Brain Do We Really Need? tackles diverse questions, such as: whether brain training or being a 'Super Ager' is the key to healthy ageing; whether drinking coffee or going for a run is better for our cognitive performance; whether women really experience the 'baby brain'; whether screen time is ruining our brains; and, of course, whether marmosets make good detectives! Whether you know a lot or little about the brain already, it's hoped that there are things in the book that make you go 'ooh, that's interesting - I didn't know that'.

Title: Agoraphobia Cure Subtitle: Daily Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Therapy to Help You Cure the Fear and Anxiety of Being in Open Crowded Spaces or Enclosed Spaces Using Positive Affirmations, Meditation Author: Stephens Hyang Narrator: David Deighton Format: Unabridged Length: 29 mins Language: English Release date: 12-05-17 Publisher: PositiveMindHub Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: Both affirmation and hypnosis can be very effective in treating phobias. Both techniques have shown various degrees of effectiveness in managing object phobias, social phobias, and situational phobias. Making things even better is the fact that you can use these two techniques together and even with other therapeutic techniques to achieve maximum results. For these reasons, people are asking where they can get affirmation and hypnosis treatments for phobias. Thanks to the rising popularity of these methods, getting either treatment for phobia resolution is easier than ever before. One great thing about using affirmation as a treatment is the fact that you can do it yourself. Once you are oriented with how it is done, you can virtually perform it anywhere, may it be at your home, at work, while traveling, or even during your daily commute. There are many positive affirmation books available in both printed and electronic forms, filled with mantras you can use to boost your positive thoughts. There are also websites containing affirmations, with some contributed by other people using affirmations to overcome their fears. You can get professional help if you want to understand affirmation better, and there are support groups available that will help you get the most out of this technique. Affirmation and hypnosis are two alternative phobia treatment methods that are fast becoming popular. Helping people overcome their fears in their own unique ways, both do so in a manner that doesn't have a negative effect on the person's well-being. Before undergoing either treatment, it is important that you understand how each method works.

Title: Manage Your Mindset Subtitle: Maximize Your Power of Personal Choice Author: Janet Hanson Narrator: Suzie Althens Format: Unabridged Length: 5 hrs and 59 mins Language: English Release date: 11-17-17 Publisher: Vibrance Press Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: As the foremost researcher in the area of correlating mindset with a variety of organizational learning factors, having performed a survey validation study of the Mindset Works, Inc. What's My School Mindset? Survey and the Project for Educational Research That Scales (PERTS) academic mindset survey, the author has discovered links between the philosophical positions one holds and the theory of mind that describes what makes humans different from animals. This book proposes that the ability to recognize and respond to the differences between what we "see" and others "see" is the key reason for individuals, groups, and organizations to succeed or to fail. How we perceive differences and respond to them changes the way our brain develops and how our systems are designed. This book provides strategies for supporting continuous development and growth in individuals, in group dynamics, and in system/organizational development using the most current understanding and propositions of theories of mind. Our theories of physics are expanding through Newtonian, classical, and on to quantum. Our technologies are expanding from simple tools to industrialization to digital information systems and on to holographic imagery and virtual realities. Biological understandings have grown from magical beliefs about life through static views of fixed DNA to cloning and the potential to regenerate organs and extend life. Our world is in need of an update on the social transformations occurring in human understanding that apply to addressing key issues of our day. This book revisits the concepts discussed in mindset theory and reframes it with a larger, more inclusive potential for understanding our world that empowers our ability for personal choice to improve our lives.

Title: Isolation: A Battered Woman's Reality Subtitle: The Narcissist's and Abuser's Efforts to Control Author: J. B. Snow Narrator: D. Gaunt Format: Unabridged Length: 28 mins Language: English Release date: 10-09-17 Publisher: JB Snow Publishing Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: Many victims don't realize it, but the constant efforts of the narcissist to isolate the victim are the result of him wanting her under his complete control. The narcissist's partner is to be critiqued, blamed, shamed, isolated, and gaslighted into utter and complete submission to him. The narcissist is a hedonist and a sadist, and the only thing that he wants from his prospective partners are blind loyalty, ignorance, compliance, and cooperation. The narcissist views his wife or partner as "his". She is his possession, even if she doesn't feel like he cherishes her on any level. More often, he treats her poorly so that she does not get a "big head" and leave him for a better alpha. The narcissist knows deep down that women are not naturally monogamous, but that they will often leave a beta or alpha man turned beta in seek of a better alpha. He has witnessed this happen to his friends, family members and acquaintances. He has heard from other men who have been victimized by women, thus he cannot let this woman get the "upper hand", no siree! The delicate ego of the narcissist cannot tolerate "losing" his partner to another mate, because he believes in his own specialness. His competitive nature is due to his evolutionary need to procreate and pass his legacy along to future generations, though he won't claim to know why he does many of the things that he does. His family of origin has a need for their legacy to be passed on, thus he will be supported in his desire to control his partner and the children that she bore for him. He is told to keep her in her place at all costs. He must ensure his children are reared to also be respectful and controlled and obedient. To not do so earns great scorn and disrespect from his parents and grandparents, as he has lost control of his own household to a member of the weaker sex! Blame, shame and rejection are not tolerated by the competitive narcissist! He best not be disrespected by anyone! If someone dishes it out to him, they best be prepared to take his wrath and the wrath of his narcissistic family members! Many of the narcissist's needs, wants and desires cannot be explained by him. He goes along with his impulses, urges and instincts because they feel good. He is a hedonist in that he much prefers a life of pleasure over pain. He might identify with a religion if his family has brainwashed him into identifying with one, or he may convert to a religion which suits his hedonistic desires in order to have an excuse for his ill-mannered behavior. This audiobook seeks to examine the devastation that is caused by the very act of isolating his partner in nearly all realms of her life and her existence. Omniscience and omnipresence is the ultimate goal of the narcissistic partner. He must be everything that there is in her world, less he risks losing her to the competition.

Title: The Dark Triad Strategies Subtitle: Tools of Narcissists, Psychopaths, and Manipulative People Author: J. B. Snow Narrator: Pete Beretta Format: Unabridged Length: 26 mins Language: English Release date: 10-03-17 Publisher: JB Snow Publishing Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: If you are here, chances are good that you have been a victim of the "dark triad" strategies which are employed by people with seemingly "bad" or "evil" personalities or behaviors. There are those who are born with "bad" or "evil" or "anti-social" personalities. There are those who are born with pro-social and empathetic personalities. Then, there are those who use "dark triad" strategies as a means of gaining immense personal power, financial gain, and sexual prowess. It is a fact that most women, due to evolution, are strongly drawn to the "bad" boy or the "alpha" male because he has the most resources: money, status, power, friends, a good family, good genes, strength, protective qualities, etc. It is also a fact, however, that alpha men are the first ones to want attention from multiple females, encouraging their predisposition for cheating. These alpha males might have healthy levels of narcissism which give them a competitive edge over the beta males, or he may be employing or feigning the dark triad strategies which give him the advantage. One of these features makes him a worthy alpha male, while the other actually makes him such a bad boy that a woman risks being thrown under the bus, murdered, framed, abused, or blackmailed when she sticks it out with the alpha bad boy. Most women will not tolerate cheating, and thus might break up the family in order to introduce a better alpha or a beta male who will be more likely to stick around. Because most women are intensely attracted to the top percentage of alpha males, they have a tendency to ignore the beta males (the "nice" guys) in favor of the mean or "evil" bad boy types. Don't blame it on the women, but blame it on the needs of evolution (the strongest genes are meant to survive to encourage future generations). The intelligent man or street smart man knows that by covering up his weaknesses, faults, and deficits, he can project the illusion that he is mysterious, perfect, strong, charming and more. He can use superficial and glib charm to essentially "fake it till you make it". Men (and some women) use the dark triad personality traits in order to get ahead in life, love, industry, business, college, and many other areas. The dark triad personality is prevalent in all high offices, including law enforcement, court rooms, politics, the military, and more. These institutions (along with corporations) encourage self-love and self-promotion in order to gain higher pay and status. This is part of our "civilized" society. Unfortunately, the encouragement of dark triad strategies encourages cutthroat moves in life. People who are mostly civil, laid-back, non-competitive, pro-social, empathetic, and sympathetic will be harmed by those who are aiming for cut-throat competitiveness in order to get ahead. These people will suffer at the hands of the cutthroat competition. Download now for more!

In fact, we would wager that most people would say they are not motivated by their jobs at all and that if they didn't need the money, they wouldn't be at their current jobs. In other words, they are not motivated. Dan Ariely, in his book, Payoff, discusses what really motivates people and surprisingly, it is not money. What motivates is an underlying sense of meaning. Here we will summarize and analyze Payoff. Enjoy!

Title: Out of the Mouth of Narcissists: What He Really Thinks of Women Subtitle: Transcend Mediocrity, Book 309 Author: J.B. Snow Narrator: D Gaunt Format: Unabridged Length: 34 mins Language: English Release date: 09-21-17 Publisher: JB Snow Publishing Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind Publisher's Summary: This audiobook will come as a surprise to you if you have not heard the words directly out of the mouth of the narcissist as to how he truly views women. We know that he is playing the game, and that he is role-modeling his narcissistic and player behavior from his peers and mentors. The narcissist often does not form much of his own opinion on what he likes and dislikes. He uses the definition of the perfect woman that has been drilled into his head by his peers, his parents, and other influential people in his life. As a social experiment, we have tackled the online dating world as it pertains to narcissists. We have asked random questions to the narcissist to see exactly what he is thinking. The anonymous narcissist was all too willing to spew how negatively he viewed all women, not just particular women. The narcissist isn't able to discern one woman from another, and he doesn't cherish any one woman. He thinks that women are interchangeable. He even lacks the overall motivation to make an attempt to sexually please a woman, and hence prefers voyeurism, casual chatting, or porn over an actual romantic relationship. Join us as we pick apart the narcissist's casual inner and outer dialog as it relates to dating, relationships, and marriage.
