Klein/Ally Show: The Podcast

Jake was sad during the show today after getting terrible news about a family member passing away. RIP to Jake's second cousin Detective Randy Hoppert who was hardworking, funny and generous, all things Jake is not. But we quickly discovered that Blind Charlie coming in-studio to shave Klein's head would make Jake feel a whole lot better, so that's the plan for Monday.. We also checked in with our new Coachella Camp correspondent Anthony, who only got 3 hours of sleep last night because his neighbors were fighting over drugs. Yay! We heard from Johnny too, who sounded like he was on drugs even though he wasn't. We pitched him several Coachella ideas to him, all of which involve Johnny being inconvenienced or humiliated. In other news, Klein has been watering a fake plant for the last year and he swears this does not make him an idiot. He even promised to bring in said fake plant to prove to us that we'd 'never be able to tell the difference.' Plus a chat about odd relationship rules, Johnny Doesn't Know: desert edition, and perhaps the weirdest & dumbest thing we've ever done for Coachella tickets.

We tried to give out free gas today to anyone listening to KROQ at a local gas station, and when Johnny hit the streets things got confusing fast. How can the simple act of Giving Tanks go south so quickly? Klein's wife thinks their dog Jerry needs therapy. (I know, she's crazy). And speaking of crazy, Ally's wife is a therapist and joined the show to give tips on how to conquer Jerry's fear of men, which included playing him a series of traumatic videos on a big screen. Plus the return of El Cheapo: Disneyland edition, a nail-biting round of Gen Wars, and we go through our list of Most/Least Awkward people on the show.

But today we had the chance to premiere some fresh new jingles for the phone number which will live in our hearts forever. After learning mid-show that the old number was back, we closed it out with a tear-jerker folk song bidding farewell to a number that was too wild to live and too beautiful to die. Are you team Johnny or team Klein/Ally? Johnny is going to Coachella and told us earlier this week that he needs this Friday AND next Friday off to 'capture content' for the station. One follow-up email confirmed this is not true. Did Johnny try & lie his way into a three-day weekend? Or was it just another Simple Jack misunderstanding?
