WWE begins the ESPN era tonight, and frankly, it wasn’t great.This 6 match card was very skippable. And if you’re not in the US and watching on Netflix, you never want to watch a PLE live again.We started with John Cena and Brock. Paul E is back in Brock’s corner again, and Brock destroys Cena.The Usos vs the Brons with The LA Knight as special referee was a spot fest.Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky put on a hell of match. Booker T is probably reaching for a towel somewhere. The post match respect angle and Vaquer celebrating with her father was the second best thing on this show. Maybe the best thing.CM Punk and AJ Lee took on the Pop-Tart Twins of Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. This was an AEW tag match that made it on WWE TV. If you like tag wrestling, don’t watch this.The highlight of the night was Undertaker announcing that he was inducting Steph McMahon into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame was a surprising segment. I really want to see the view from the Gorilla position on this one.The main event was Cody and Drew. We are one night away from Elimination Chamber, and apparently the biggest creative priority was figuring out how to get Jey Uso out of the Chamber match and slide somebody else in. And yes… they did it. Because of course they did.The show was mostly built around that switch, with a whole lot of filler stitched in between like someone trying to pad an essay five minutes before class.There were a couple of highlights. I won’t lie. A few moments that made me raise an eyebrow instead of lowering my expectations.But then…The MFTs gave us what might be the longest match in televised history. I aged. I suffered. Greg wisely skipped this one, and honestly, that may have been the smartest booking decision of the week.Some storylines moved forward. Some didn’t. Some just sort of existed.The road to Elimination Chamber is technically paved. I’ve got some bad news for you….We’re back again this week to cover this nonsense (thanks Barrett). We cross the pond, took an Uber and ended up at the Arena in Berlin for an afternoon SmackDown.First, 3 hours is too long. We started this show when it was still daylight out. That was nice. SmackDown is officially in chaos, as Nick Aldis announced a loaded No. 1 contender tournament with Orton, Miz, Trick Williams, Damian Priest, Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn, and Ilja Dragunov.Giulia’s Women’s U.S. Title reign comes with an asterisk, as Lash Legend shoved Alexa Bliss off the top rope to hand her the win.Jordynne Grace got her SmackDown welcome… and her warning. She beat Alba Fyre, then Jade Cargill stepped in to remind everyone who believes this is “her show.”The Wyatt Sicks lost thanks to distraction nonsense, as Solo Sikoa grabbing the Wyatt lantern allowed Tama Tonga to pin Uncle Howdy.Carmelo Hayes survived Shinsuke Nakamura, gutting through a targeted leg attack to retain the U.S. Title—then shook hands like a fighting champion.Johnny Gargano went full snake mode, attacking Nathan Frazer backstage while wearing an Axiom mask.Drew McIntyre is WWE Champion… and nobody’s buying it. With half the WWE crew still overseas, SmackDown returns to North America by landing in San Jose. Cody is in mourning or something to start the show.The WWE Women’s Tag Championships were on the line when Alexa/Charlotte took on Zolruca, with Blake Monroe sat at ringside causing some interactions.The US Open Challenge is back with Sami taking on Ilja Dragunov returning from a year of injury. We were repeatedly told he was hungry or starving, like WWE didn’t pay him while he was injured or something… Not like that’s ever happened.The men’s tag division resurfaces with the Motor City Machine Guns (celebrating their 1 year in WWE) taking on Los Garza.And our main event, was the Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre number one contenders match that didn’t happen. Jacob is in the back and appears to have had Danhausen come by, or Isacc Yankem. So we get Drew and Cody brawling and a “match”. As we prepare for a trip to Australia, SmackDown tonight emanates from the city closest to Australia we could find, Cincinnati, OH.We start off with an opening segment of Cody and he’s immediately cut off by Paul Heyman and the Brons. Randy Orton appears “Out of Nowhere” (see what I did there) to even the odds. Heymen is sowing seeds of discontent between Orton and Rhodes.Backstage, we find out that Melo don’t Miz anymore.As Melo tries to answer the US Open Challenge (again), Miz comes out and delivers a skull crushing finale. This allowed Aleister Black to answer the challenge. With Aleister having the upper hand, Damian Priest appears causing a distraction finish and a post match power-bomb through an announce table.We introduce (again) new NXT members with Sol Ruca and Zaria being propositioned to join the Secret Hervice. This leads to a match between Ruca/Zaria and Chelesa/Fire.Backstage, we get a cringeworthy Alexa/Charlotte interaction, with Charlotte trying to get Alexa to Woooo. Thankfully Cathy Kelly is in for the save.Steph Vaquer and Tiffany sign their contract for Crown Jewel. After that’s complete, Kiana James and Guilia come out and setup a match for next Friday (morning) in Australia.Ray Fenix has a new Lucha friend, with Je’von Evans. They take on Los Garza in a fun match.Backstage, Damian Priest and Kit Wilson interact, leading to Kit Wilson crashing into clanging pipes. And Priest challenging Black to a Last Man Standing Match for next Friday morning.In our main event, the Brons took on Cody/Randy. In the end, we get another distraction finish and Seth interference. Seth after the match wants to try to take out Cody with the stop. He’s cautioned against it by Paul Heyman. He does it anyway, and gets hit with a Cross-Rhodes for his trouble.
