In today's episode I share some recent thoughts Ive had about life. How a conversation with someone reminded me of all the similar conversations Ive had, where the story line is thinking your life is going to go a totally different direction then where it goes.I relate to this and share about my recent engagement and how as a kid I thought I would never get married but now here I am. At the end of this episode I share some answers to questions asked on a recent instagram pole about how I felt when Otto was down on one knee and how I knew I found my forever person. As usual,Thank you for listening!Happy Hump DayAny inquiries, questions, comments, episode requests feel free to reach out:Email: riomadison.aa@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/yourskinsgym.podcast?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== Love, Rio-Madisonhttps://linktr.ee/riomadison
Today we have a chill episode with my childhood best friend. From 5 years old to 27, we have been through it all together. We sat down to talk about all things friendship and ask each other some deep questions like 'would you trust a friend again if they broke your trust?' and 'what is a time in your life when you experienced something and felt you couldn't have gotten through it without a friend?".I enjoyed this conversation so much and I hope you do too.Thank you for listening!Happy Hump DayAny inquiries, questions, comments, episode requests feel free to reach out:Email: riomadison.aa@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/yourskinsgym.podcast?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== Love, Rio-Madisonhttps://linktr.ee/riomadison
Life has been busy lately and is only getting busier in August/ September. BUT I am a routine person and sometimes when my routine gets thrown off it doesn't make me feel so good. In today's episode we talk about how to accept that routine may not be able to stay exactly consistent but we can bring parts of it wherever we go to at least maintain the way routine makes us feel (if you're like me and routine makes you feel good). This episode is for anyone looking for a bit more stability, grounding, and consistency in feeling good through a busy season of life. In honor of Mental Health Awareness month today we are going to be talking about mental health! Mental health is just as important as our physical health and if not taken seriously or treated with proper care can hurt us just as much too. Mental health has been significant in my life as someone who has suffered with anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, PMDD, and a day to day tough voice in my head. I'm happy to have a honest chat today about some of my personal struggles, how I get myself up from lows, and my non negotiable's. My “no matter what's” that supports making my mind a better place. Hey everyone! Today we are talking about how to know when you're done with something, someone, or somewhere. If you’ve ever quit a job, broken up with someone, moved cities, or decided to close certain doors in your life than you might be familiar with this feeling. Sometimes it's subtle, uncomfortable, sometimes it's big, loud, and we know exactly what it's pointing to. Regardless of where you're at or if you've been here before this episode is going to help pinpoint the feelings that come with being done so we can move forward. We talk about what it means for our bodies to feel this way, how when one door closes another one opens, and that understanding our feelings is the first step to closing one chapter so we can step into the next and live a fulfilling, aligned, purpose filled life. I hope you enjoy this episode. Today we have an incredibly empowering story from Avery Toomes. After a challenging medical journey and being diagnosed with Acromegaly Avery shares how she’s come to be in a place of choosing self love and acceptance. During this conversation Avery gives insight into the process of her diagnosis, how acromegaly has changed her features, and how she has “laid to rest” the old version of herself so she can fully and happily be in her present self. We talk about the importance of being your own advocate, and how doing so regardless of what anyone else says, reminds us that we know our bodies best and ultimately this helps us strengthen the trust with ourselves. Avery has chosen growth, self love, compassion, acceptance, and gives us all the inspiration to do so ourselves. We also discuss how creativity as an outlet through hard things and life in general can be healing and truly save us sometimes. I'm so grateful for this conversation and for Avery sharing her story and bringing her powerful words here to this platform for you all to hear! Avery is also a beautifully talented writer and her substack will be linked down below along with her socials so please check that out and give her a follow!! Hi Everybody!Today we have a topic very near and dear to my heart. We start a conversation on Eating Disorders which I intend to spend more time on, on YourSkinsGyms podcast. Today we spend time talking about the biggest things I've learned through my own eating disorder journey, how to support someone/ what to do/ what not to do, and some signs to look out for. Eating Disorders are very fragile and serious, there are many resources out there for support including some that I have added below. Please take proper care if you are struggling or know someone who is. I hope that this conversation helped in some way. Please feel free to reach out if you're interested in finding out more about my holistic health coaching and think you or someone you know could benefit from it! It makes me happiest to help. In this episode we explore the 7 different types of rest our bodies need and by understanding that there are different kinds of rest, we can understand that rest doesn't mean doing nothing. We explore how just having the intention and mindset of being in a rest mode can help us to be mindful about taking what we need to avoid feeling drained or reaching burnout. I'm sure we all know someone who says, “I'm not good at resting”, “I don't know how to let myself sit still” or, “I don't know how to do nothing”, etc. and we may argue with them and say, “but you need to rest!”. Well, what does that really mean? Rest can look different for different parts of us and without knowing those different parts we may have a hard time resting properly. This episode breaks down how to know what area of ourselves needs rest, and in turn be able to rejuvenate, reenergize, and restore. Below is a free quiz created by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith M.D. that helps us identify what kind of rest we are in need of. I hope you enjoy this episode and feel more confident in being able to take the proper rest you need! In this episode we begin the discussion about the complex topic of stress. How it affects our lives when it goes too far but also how and why we need it. The fact that there are both positive and negative stressors in life, the difference between stress and anxiety and how to manage our stress. I share some techniques for stress management and how important it is for our health that we at least try to implement them. Health is wealth!! Julia doesn't just share words and insights but the badass and motivational energy in this episode is radiant. I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity to get to know her more and I hope you all enjoy this episode. Also, with LA in mind there are some links below to ways you can help the victims affected by the wildfires. Thank you for listening! In this episode we are talking about the process of taking risk, leaps, making change, and writing your own story. I walk us through 9 steps that help me decide to just go for it when making any scary change in my life. How do we get to the point of needing to stop the thinking and feeling part and say to ourselves, "I'm ready as ill ever be and its time to just go for it"?, "How do we stop those "what if?" questions from holding us back, choose trust ourselves and discover the unknown? I use my process of taking the leap to move to Boston as an example while going through these 9 steps and have a little bit of a story time :)Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoyed!Happy Hump DayAny inquiries, questions, comments, episode requests feel free to reach out:Instagram: @yourskinsgymLove,Rio-Madison
