On this episode of the Artist Interrogations podcast, Peaches sits down with Kasey Karlsen and CJ Arey of the band Deadlands at the Soundwell in Salt Lake City. The conversation covers their latest EP, Seven, which is based on the seven deadly sins and influenced by tarot cards and self-reflection.The group discusses their tour, initially called "Hot Singles in Your Area," but later corrected to "Hot Shows in Your Area". They share stories about the show, including the energetic crowds in Mesa, Arizona, and Oklahoma City, which were some of the best shows they've ever played. Peaches also talks about a previous interview where they discussed the Idaho Potato Museum, which led him to bring Kasey and CJ a poster and shot glass from the museum's gift shop.Kasey and CJ open up about their shared experience with ADHD and how it affects their daily lives and work. They clarify that while they are the only two official members of Deadlands, the touring musicians are considered family. The podcast also touches on their collaboration with producer Boy What, also known as Eli , on the EP and their song "House of Cards". Finally, they express their appreciation for "nice rock stars" in the music industry, such as Cody from Set It Off and Chris Motionless.
Silverstein’s Shane Told sits down with me, Peaches, for a deep dive into 25 years of chaos, creativity, and post-hardcore dominance. From the early days of recording Discovering the Waterfront while crashing in a walk-in closet to selling out their biggest tour ever, Shane pulls back the curtain on Silverstein’s journey, their evolution, and why they’ve never hit the brakes. We get into the making of their latest album, Antibloom—why they recorded it in Joshua Tree, how it rekindled the magic of their early days, and why they couldn’t settle for just one album in 2025 (yes, two full records are coming). Plus, Shane breaks down the stories behind Confession and Don’t Let Me Get Too Low—including how the latter almost didn’t have a bridge and the ridiculous behind-the-scenes moments that went into filming its music video in the Las Vegas desert. But it doesn’t stop there. We talk about:Breakdowns vs. Guitar Solos – Why every song today seems to have a breakdown, even the ballads.Touring at This Level – The reality of going from cramped vans to full production semi-trucks and what life on the road looks like 25 years in.The Emo Revival – Why a whole new generation of fans is showing up in droves to see Silverstein, and how the return of My Chemical Romance and Blink-182 has put a massive spotlight back on the scene.Pinball Obsession – Yes, Shane is a full-blown pinball addict, and he might be lurking in an arcade near you.Warped Tour Speculation – Could Silverstein be on the upcoming Warped Tour revival? Shane gives his take on what’s happening.Being ‘The Old Guys’ in the Scene – How it feels to still be at the top while seeing 18-year-olds rock the same fashion he wore in high school. We even talk sports, Luka Dončić trade drama, and what it’s like being 6’9” at a concert (spoiler: everyone hates me for it). This one is packed with stories, insights, and plenty of laughs. Whether you’ve been rocking with Silverstein since the beginning or just discovered them, this is an episode you don’t want to miss.Listen now!(Intro & Setting the Scene)(0:00) - (2:20) | Introduction & Technical Glitches(Setting up the interview as Shane deals with some connection issues.)(The Kindness in Rock and Metal)(2:20) - (3:08) | Everyone in Rock and Metal is Incredibly Kind(Shane reflects on the positive and welcoming nature of the music scene.)(Living Situations & Band History)(3:08) - (4:07) | Shane Lived in a Walk-in Closet at One Point(A humorous throwback to humble beginnings.)(4:07) - (5:45) | Silverstein Went Back to California to Record(First time recording there since 2007.)(5:45) - (6:45) | Upgrading to a Bus and Semi-Truck for Their Tour(Big upgrades for the 25 Years of Noise tour.)(6:45) - (7:53) | How 25 Years Have Flown By(Shane reflects on the band’s long journey.)(Creating Music After 25 Years)(7:53) - (10:51) | How Silverstein Still Produces Amazing Tracks(Shane reveals the band’s creative process after two and a half decades.)(Diving Into Songs and Music Videos)(10:51) - (11:20) | Praising ‘Confession’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Get Too Low’(Peaches highlights standout tracks.)(11:21) - (12:26) | The ‘Don’t Let Me Get Too Low’ Music Video(Shane breaks down the making of the music video.)(12:32) - (13:19) | A Sneak Peek at an Upcoming Song(Shane hints at new music teased at the end of the video.)(13:20) - (13:58) | Peaches’ Favorite Part of the Music Video(Peaches shares their favorite moment from the video.)(13:58) - (14:27) | Filming Location for the ‘Confession’ Video(Where the video was shot and the vision behind it.)(14:27) - (18:00) | Jon Lundin of Point North Collaborates with Silverstein(Discussing Jon’s work on 'Don’t Let Me Get Too Low' and future projects.)(The Evolution of Silverstein’s Sound)(18:00) - (19:07) | Every Song Now Has a Breakdown (No More Solos)(Shane explains the band’s stylistic choices.)(Concerts and Fan Experiences)(19:07) - (20:03) | Peaches at the Wage War Show in Boise(Dealing with tall people at concerts and show highlights.)(20:03) - (23:54) | Shane and Peaches Chat About Sports(A fun detour discussing their shared interest in sports.)(23:54) - (25:50) | Shane’s Obsession with Pinball(How pinball has become one of Shane’s favorite hobbies.)(New Albums & Nostalgia)(25:50) - (26:50) | Talk About Upcoming Albums(Shane teases what’s coming next.)(26:50) - (27:55) | Young People Embracing Late ’90s Fashion(The resurgence of baggy jeans, chokers, and vintage trends.)(27:55) - (30:50) | Diverse Crowds at Silverstein Shows(How fans from all backgrounds connect with their music, and Shane's desire for the band to be the “Bad Religion of Emo.”)(Warped Tour & Final Thoughts)(30:50) - (31:45) | Hinting at a Warped Tour Appearance(A possible return to the iconic tour?)(31:45) - (32:33) | Warped Tour Chat(More nostalgia and reflections on past Warped experiences.)(32:33) - (34:11) | Wrapping Up the Interview(Shane thanks Peaches for supporting Silverstein on the radio.)
