Lend Me Your Ears. Sam Jobber's exceptional musical and vocal talents are on full display at his Instagram page (where I first discovered his work), link below. His musical and vocal insights into The Beatles catalogue is simply in a class all his own. I'd highly recommed firstly checking out his work before tuning into this episode in order to fully appreciate his thoughts here. Sam is of a generation far from the time of the Fab Four but his talents, passion, and love for the body of work they have left behind, keeps the music in good hands as yet another gateway of discovery for the world's greatest band.Sam's Instagram found here - Tune In!:https://www.instagram.com/sjplaysmusic/
Julian Lennon's 1984 debut, 'Valotte', remains one of the truly great introductions of any artist. His body of work since has included some really wonderful music not often spoken of, I've found. So, here is a little look into the albums, the highlights (for me) and a playlist I'd recommend for getting yourself back into newly appreciating the music of Julian Lennon.Find out more about Julian in 2025 across the links here:https://julianlennon-photography.com/https://whitefeatherfoundation.com/
'The Beatle Who Vanished' is one of the finest Beatles books to enter the world. It's author, Jim Berkenstadt, is my guest for Ep:35. Better known perhaps as The Rock And Roll Detective, Jim has served as consultant on projects such as Martin Scorsese's, 'George Harrison: Living In The Material World' and Peter Jackson's, 'Get Back', these being only a few of his impressive credits. A link below to Jim's world and output is worthy of your own investigation.Jimmie Nicol, the subject behind 'The Beatle Who Vanished', was, for a very brief window of time, the man behind the kit, filling in for Ringo as the band commenced its first world tour. He had remained something of a mystery, a footnote in the story of the Fab Four, that was until Jim Berkenstadt brought his story alive. This subject informs most of our conversation. You're going to enjoy getting to know Jim and discovering some of his wonderful work and insights. The Rock And Roll Detective:https://rockandrolldetective.com/
Jude Southerland Kessler is the author behind The John Lennon Series, a project originally made known to the world in 2008 with, 'Shoulda Been There (Volume One)' covering John's life in narrative biography form from 1940 to 1961. Her latest work in the series (at the time of this episode) is 'Some Forever | Shades of Life Part Two (Volume 5.1)', moving through the late end of 1965 into the early period of 1966. Link below to Jude's site.I have long been aware of Jude and her work, so sitting and speaking here was a real highlight for me in the series. I hope you get as much out of listening to her insights, her process, as I most certainly did.Let's get talking with Jude Southerland Kessler. The John Lennon Series:https://www.johnlennonseries.com/
Alex Lloyd has delivered some of the most enduring songs in the history of Australian music. Following the dissolution of the blues-rock infused band, MOTHER HUBBARD, in the late 1990’s, he returned to the scene with his stunning debut, BLACK THE SUN. Certified 2x Platinum, it was the launchpad for a truly wonderful body of work showcasing an artist in a class all his own. For me, this transition from band to solo artist, out of the gates with a mighty launch, just having to get these songs out, felt very George and ALL THINGS MUST PASS adjacent. His strong sense of melodic structure, and instinctive craft for songwriting generally, has always felt Beatles inspired to my ears, so I reached out and Alex was gracious enough to spend a little time in conversation. ECHOES OF HOME is his latest single at the time of this episode, while Alex hits the road with dates spread across Australia. A link below to the upcoming calendar of performances throughout the country. Link also to the music of Alex Lloyd on Spotify seen here. Finally, a sincere thanks to Jo for bringing it all together.Australian Tour Dateshttps://linktr.ee/alxllyd Alex Lloyd – Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/1aVud1rCHS8xrpDjI7zEUy?si=MVlLoV52SJSjb18oNnP1VAMinor language warning in this episode.
