This summer, we’ve had you vote on who you thought were the best players in the first 100 years of Murray State Men’s Basketball. In tonight’s podcast, we continue our countdown with #14 on our list — Jonathan Stark. Stark rewrote the Racer record book in his two seasons in Murray. It took him 48 games to score 1,000 points in a Racer uniform — tied for the fewest games in program history. His 1,408 career-points are good for 21st all-time at Murray State. No Racer scored more points in fewer games than Stark. He also has the highest scoring average of any Murray State player that spent at least two years with the program. Stark, the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, led the Racers to the NCAA Tournament that season. Here is the Top-20 list up to this moment:* Jonathan Stark* Howie Crittenden* Les Taylor* KJ Williams* Aubrey Reese* Glen Green* Lamont Sleets This is a public episode. Thank you for your patience and, hopefully, riding those issues out.)This summer, we’ve had you vote on who you thought were the best players in the first 100 years of Murray State Men’s Basketball. Today we continue our countdown with former Racer Les Taylor, who you voted #16 on our list. ‘The Racer Insider’ Lindy Suiter joins the podcast to give his perspective on Taylor’s time at Murray State. Taylor, who was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in both 1972 and 1973, is one of five Racers to win multiple OVC Player of the Year awards. Coming to Murray from nearby Carbondale, Illinois, Taylor finished his career with 1,477 points and 539 rebounds — and he put up those numbers in just 70 games over three seasons. Taylor was inducted into Murray State’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1987. This is a public episode.
