Grief can be a difficult road to walk for many. David's Shining Star is a podcast dedicated to my son David who was tragically taken from his family. Facing the grief can be extremely difficult. Our podcast is for those who have grief in their lives and need the community of others who grieve.

MY son lost his life when he drowned in a lake. Although he had a lifejacket, he wasn't wearing it.
Often, when we are dealing with grief, we become isolated and feel alone. At some point, we may be able to help others with grief which can also help us as well.
Grieving typically includes depression for those walking this journey. Depression is not something most people want others to see or know about. For most men, we hide this depression even when it is significant. There is great hardship associated with trying to navigate through depression. I learned well to hide my depression behind a smile.
Those who grieve often find that it is easy to get lost in busyness to fill the void left in losing someone you love. Though grief can be pushed aside temporarily, it can and will return to affest you.

Grief for men can be difficult as we tend to maintain a strong front. When we show vulnerability, we can help others know that grieving can be handled in a healthy way without being seen as weak.
A continuation of discussion on the effects of grief. Depression is clearly one of the struggles associated with grief and should be dealt with. We have to find a way to deal with the void left by loss.
Although some may feel that grief has an end point, for most, it does not. It is something that has to be faced frequently.

Walking with a parent who suffers with Dementia is in itself a form of grief that in many ways can be extremely difficult. It is a disease where you watch your loved one fade away while being present in a body..
For those who grieve, typically it becomes a daily walk of either ignoring it or opening it when you choose and not when grief chooses to show up.

Holidays can be extremely stressful for those who struggle with the grief of a missing loved one. The empty chair and missing smile during the holidays can overwhelming. It is our hope and prayer to be a resource of help. We also want to form a community for the grieving to share their journey with others.
