Temptation begins within us, grows into sin, and leads to death. Yet God doesn’t leave us there. In James 1:12–18, we discover the hope, grace, and new life found in Jesus.rlcsd.org
As we continue our series through James, we look at the call to “consider it great joy” when we face trials. James reminds us that God uses suffering to mature our faith, and when we lack wisdom in the midst of trials, we are invited to ask Him who gives generously. This passage challenges us to trust God’s purposes, cling less to what is temporary, and anchor our hope in what is eternal.rlcsd.org
This week, we begin our series, James: Grace That Works, where we take an in depth look at the book of James and how Biblical grace is not opposed to obedience but transforms a believer's heart, life, and mind. As we see in the beginning of James, this transformative grace was at work in James' life as He transformed from a skeptic to a servant. We also see that this letter was not intended for just a narrow audience but even the church today as we live in the tension of our present world and the hope we have. rlcsd.org
In the film industry, before everything was digital - an editors office would have its floor littered with short pieces of unused film that didn't make the final cut. Inevitably, when writing a sermon - your floor is also littered with things that were worth including, but that didn't make the final cut.At the end of a series like we've just completed, talking about the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit - we felt like some of what was still on the floor, was worth taking a few minutes to share with you. So we invite you to join a short discussion with Trevor & Clay, for some bonus material on the topic of the Gifts of the Spirit.*As was mentioned in the show, here is a link to a very simple Spiritual Gifts assessment - https://giftstest.com
This week, we wrap up our series titled Better Because, where we look at why it was necessary for Jesus to come to us and why we are better off that He ultimately departed. Because we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, God works through us by the spiritual gifts that we are all blessed with. We have the daily purpose to see how we can use the gifts and continue growing in the confidence that it is God given. We use these gifts to show the loving care of Jesus to those in need around us. Like any thoughtful gift we receive, we do not simply have admiration for the gift, but for the giver. And we in turn, can use our gift for His glory. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled Better Because, where we look at why it was necessary for Jesus to come to us and why we are better off that He ultimately departed. Because we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, God works through us by the spiritual gifts we are blessed with. These gifts serve a threefold purpose. They deepen our personal worship, edify the church, and draw unbelievers to Christ. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled Better Because, where why we look at why it was necessary for Jesus to come to us and why we are better off that He ultimately departed. As humans, we may find a desire for significant life change but at the same time unable or unmotivated to do so. As Jesus said, He left so that the Holy Spirit could be with us. We benefit from this access to God, have a full assurance of our identity with Him, and have the power for change from the inside out. rlcsd.org
This week, we are joined by guest speaker Mike Neglia of Calvary Chapel Cork Ireland as he shares with us a message of what it means to be a disciple. As Christians, this looks like an apprenticeship where we try to model our lives after Jesus. We are entrusted with the great commission but also importantly, we are accompanied by Jesus, the great companion.rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled Better Because, where why we look at why it was necessary for Jesus to come to us and why we are better off that He ultimately departed. While the disciples would have been sorrowful to hear that He would be leaving them, He ultimately had to leave to pave the way for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is at work in the world convicting sin and pointing to the need for a savior. The Spirit continues to guide the church understand and apply the Word. We can discern the Spirit at work as it is always glorifying to Christ, not any individual person. rlcsd.org
This week, we begin our series titled Better Because, where we look at John 16 and why we are better off because Jesus came and departed. As humans, we think that we know best for ourselves, but many times giving in to those desires harms us. God knows what is needed for us to be made whole. As we see today, Jesus sacrificed Himself to pay the debt for our sins but also to become an advocate for us. We can live with a steady confidence that He will return to finish the work He started and that we live each day listening to His Spirit in us. rlcsd.org
This week, we are joined by Jimmy O'Keefe who teaches us to set ourselves up for a wonderful new year as we do our part to be true examples of what it means to follow the heart of Jesus.
As we begin the new year, we take time this Sunday to look at what the original mission that the early church is charged with and how that translates to today's church. While all churches share the same mission, the vision of each church is how they go about accomplishing that vision. We breakdown the mission and vision of Renewed Life Church and how we see it furthered in our members each week.
This week, we wrap up our Advent series as we celebrate the first arrival of Jesus and anticipate His coming second arrival. We take a look at the holy road the Jesus paves for us through this broken world and leads us to eternal life. He was the only one qualified to walk the path of perfect righteousness and took our judgement to open a way for us. We can look to Him for strength to keep on going and remember that we are set apart for a purpose. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our Advent series as we celebrate the first arrival of Jesus and anticipate His coming second arrival. We take a look at the three promises made of Jesus, that He would be embodied, He would earn a reputation, and be driven with a clear purpose. Like a light in a dark world, Jesus took on flesh and conquered death, showing us that fearing God leads to the end of all other fears. Through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, He earned titles and a reputation of how powerful He is but also how near He is to us. Jesus came with a clear purpose to rid the world of its' broken systems and bring about eternal restoration. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our Advent series as we celebrate the first arrival of Jesus and anticipate His coming second arrival. In our world, we are offered temporary peace and manufactured happiness that is easily disrupted by other circumstances. It's only when we recognize this bleak reality that we search for a true and lasting promise of peace. Our hope is in Jesus' redemption of the world and the exaltation of His Kingdom. Although we still live in the tension of awaiting Jesus' arrival, we can place our trust and find comfort in Him. rlcsd.org
This week, we begin our Advent series as we celebrate the first arrival of Jesus and anticipate His coming second arrival. This week, we look at how God brings beauty from ashes. He displays judgement on the injustice to humble the wicked. It is out of this destruction that Isaiah prophecizes the coming of Jesus, who would shoot up like a seedling from a stump. Unlike other rulers known for war, intimidation, and fear, Jesus establishes peace and love. He brings ultimate justice and restoration and completes God's promise of hope.rlcsd.org
This week, we wrap up our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. As Paul closes out his letter to the church of Ephesus, he reminds them of the reality that they are in the middle of a spiritual war. While this is important for us to be reminded of, we should also be mindful of who the enemy is not. We are first and foremost instructed to stand, as we are to hold the ground that Jesus already won. To do this, we share the same weapons Jesus has at his disposal, the Word of God and prayer to connect to God for His deliverance and power. Furthermore, we are to put on the armor of God, which is ultimately a call to put on Christ Himself and live in the new identity Paul describes to us. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. Paul addresses addresses authority and power dynamics as shown through the relationship between parents with children and slaves and masters. Both the ones under authority and in authority are ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ, who holds absolute power without corruption. Children are to obey and honor their parents, while parents are called to bridle their authority and raise their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Similarly, employees are to serve their human masters as they would Christ, while masters must treat those under them justly, remembering that God shows no favoritismrlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. Paul describes to the church in Ephesus timeless truths about marriage that are relevant to our modern culture. Marriages then and now should be on a simple foundation, a covenant promising future love. This is prioritized through a reordering of two lives around that new covenant. Although there are many reasons that people choose to get married today, the Bible is clear that the purpose is for oneness and holiness, to display a more complete image of God. rlcsd.org
This week, we continue our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. As Paul describes to the church of Ephesus, their walk with Jesus first begins with recognizing the darkness they are in, shown by the sinful influences the culture surrounds them with. Paul reminds them, that they too were the darkness, alone and without the hope of Christ. As believers in Christ, we have a new identity marked by being light in the Lord. We are called to shine brightly and expose the darkness, living a life that bears the fruits of the spirit. rlcsd.org
