Description
Thru The Chapters is a one year Journey thru the text, Gonstead Chiropractic Science and Art by Roger Herbst. This text is the basic primer for anyone intent on learning the foundational concepts of Gonstead Chiropractic. This is a 52 week program designed to teach you fundamental concepts supported by Science, informed by Philosophy, and applied as Art. The 52 week format makes it so you can jump in anywhere and complete the journey from wherever you begin.

In today's episode, we will cover the proper technique for taking full spine films. It is important to use proper technique as well as patient positioning to ensure that the films are of the highest quality.
In today's episode, we will be looking at misalignments of the Occiput as it relates to the Atlas. This section will give us a thorough understanding of the biomechanics as it relates to Occipital misalignment so we can create a plan for proper correction.
In today's episode, we look specifically at the atlas. Once it has been determined that there is a subluxation of the atlas, it is necessary to evaluate it on x-ray in order to determine its exact location and the proper method of correction.
In today's episode, we will complete our reading of the book by discussing some final physics concepts and how they help us to understand biomechanical motion.
In today's episode, we discuss the mechanism by which upper cervical subluxations cause nerve pressure and dysfunction. This is an important piece of the assessment if we are going to create a proper correction.
In today's episode, we continue on with some advanced physics concepts that are used to evaluate spinal movements as well as loads and strengths. These concepts help us to understand how the body functions and can be studied with accuracy.
In today's episode, we begin Chapter 8 on Cervical Misalignments C2-C7. This chapter will discuss the proper technique for evaluating misalignment of the lower cervical segments using radiography.
In today's episode we cover some more advanced physics concepts and how they affect our understanding and measurements in biomechanics.
In today's episode, we begin Chapter 8 and we look at the unique way that we access the cervical spine. Once we know where the subluxation is, we have a system for evaluating the misalignment to know what we should and should not do.
Today we begin Chapter 9 (the final chapter). We will be discussing physics principles and how they apply to the spine and its motions.
In today's episode, we will take the theory we discussed last week, and we will apply it to the x-ray evaluation to ensure that we have proper application leading to correct conclusions. We will also discuss the proper corrective procedure as a better way of understanding what is happening conceptually.
In today's episode, we revisit a conversation I had with Dr Gilbert. She is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and she has performed hundreds of lip tie and tongue tie procedures. She also happens to be my wife, and I assisted her with all of those procedures. In this conversation, we were able to talk about our shared experience and what we have learned about this unique space from the dental side of things.
In today's episode, we complete Chapter 8 by looking at surgical use of osteotomies as well as a chapter review of all the essential knowledge that we can gain from this entire chapter.
In today's episode, we will look at the uniqueness of the biomechanics and misalignments in the thoracic spine. The purpose of which is to best ascertain how we should be correcting these misalignments to produce an actual correction and not merely a noise.
In this episode, we conclude Part 4 on Spinal Instrumentation. This includes a review of all instrumentation that can be used on the entire spine.
In today's episode, we complete chapter 6. We will be talking about the use of radiographs to determine the position of the vertebra relative to the one below it. This is a crucial first step in being able to properly assess how to correct the subluxation.
In today's episode, we will be discussing spinal instrumentation. This includes wires, internal appliances, and even prosthetics. The idea is to better understand the conditions under which each approach is applied, its strengths and weaknesses, and how we, as chiropractors, can apply this knowledge for our patient's benefit.
In today's episode, we begin Chapter 6 on how to identify Lumbar Misalignments. This chapter highlights the X-ray evaluation procedure for determining the direction of misalignment and how to correct it.
In today's episode, we will be looking at a material called PMMA. It is used in emergency situations to hold together fractured vertebra. It is still used today, so it is very important for us to understand the nature of this material and how it is used.
In this throw back episode, we talked with Dr Eric Russell about "practical philosophy". This was a great conversation about how you can use philosophy on a daily basis to influence how you practice.
