I help women with neurodiverse husband and kids prioritize self-care to thrive

Hey lovely, is your husband neurodiverse, or are you a mom of a child with autism? Are the daily demands of family life leaving you with little time for self-care? Do you feel your emotional needs are forgotten? Is your identity fading away under the weight of everyday responsibilities?

Friend, I am glad you are here. This podcast will help you prioritize your self-care with simple planning solutions that empower you to rebuild your life and set healthy boundaries while still fulfilling your roles as a wife and mom.

Hey, I’m Christina—married 16 years to a neurodiverse man, mom of three neurodiverse kids, emergency manager, and business owner.

For years, I tried to fix our home environment, hoping to ease the sensory and communication challenges in my neurodiverse family. But no matter how much I read or how many Christian experts I listened to, nothing bridged the gap between meeting everyone else’s needs and caring for myself.

I was exhausted carrying so many responsibilities while my needs were unmet. My husband was frustrated with his limitations and didn’t know what to do. My neurodiverse kids needed my help to navigate a world they didn’t always understand, but their meltdowns and challenges were overwhelming and exhausting at times. My health began to decline as I focused on making our marriage and home life optimal for my spouse and kids to prevent the cycle of problems. I reached a breaking point when I realized that prioritizing my well-being wasn’t selfish—it was essential. That’s when I turned to simple planning solutions to create space for self-care.

This podcast is here to guide you on a journey of self-care and healthy boundaries without sacrificing your roles as a wife or mom. By embracing a holistic approach rooted in biblical values, I rediscovered the vibrant woman God created me to be. Now, I want to help you reclaim your identity, heal your heart, and reconnect with the life you love.

If you’re ready to begin your self-care journey, grab your sanity latte and listen in as we take another small, intentional step toward a peaceful, healthier you.

There are joyous moments in a neurodiverse family which we can laugh about but we can not ignore the hard moments. Sometimes the hardship is tackling simple communications for other couples, but it requires long conversations breaking down the nuance of word meaning and vocal tone. Every day trying to comprehend what your child is communicating in a meltdown over clothes or sound. Honestly, tasks which many families can do in minutes can take half an hour to hours for us. But sometimes life is hard because we have learned unhealthy coping skills, our maturity tasks still in progress (Dr Jim Wilder) or we have undealt trauma. Realizing we have a choice, even when it feels we do not have a choice is an important mind shift for growth.   💌 Sign Up for Email List    ❤️‍🩹 Self - Care Coaching Available   📩 Connect with me: Instagram or Facebook   Loved This Episode? Have you ever written down all the tasks you accomplish in a day? It is a long list from managing your home, feeding your family, researching sensory strategies, juggling therapies, working on your marriage and helping kids regulate. Sustaining a high level of activity does have its drawbacks and it is understandable when a ball is dropped.  How much do you berate yourself when you forgot an appointment, missed the note on classroom snacks or didn't realize someone's medication ran out?  If this is you, here is the encouragment you need for those moments.   Galarm app   💌 Sign Up for Email List    ❤️‍🩹 Self - Care Coaching Available   📩 Connect with me: Instagram or Facebook   Loved This Episode? Self-care is a needed luxury which is not easy to cultivate in a neurodiverse family. There is always a need to be met, a new challenge requiring deciphering and a constant pace which is difficult to maintain. Exercise is often the first important life-care (self-care) activity to be dropped. As time passes, the capacity and ability to be active again is daunting. My guest is Sarah Stein, a parent of a neurodivergent teen and has been a fitness instructor for cycle, swim and other group fitness classes. She will explain simple steps to start exercising that is achievable and works with your neurodiverse family. Don't give up on those goals, each small step will add up!   💌 Sign Up for Email List    ❤️‍🩹 Self - Care Coaching Available   📩 Connect with me: Instagram or Facebook   Loved This Episode? Marriage is two people living in community, learning to love each other and live together in harmony. When neurodiversity is a component, the challenges can lead to seeing only the negative, what your spouse is lacking. Continued focus on solely the negative while ignoring your husband's efforts and slow growth can lead to a dangerous cycle. When your heart is hurting and numb, how do you pivot to begin perceiving his strengths? Here are my suggestions for first steps on this process.   Resources:  Asperger Syndrome and Long-Term Relationships Uniquely Us: Gracefully Navigating the Maze of Neurodiverse Marriage, Autism and Faith   📩 Connect with me: Instagram or Facebook   If you are enjoying this episode and want more encouragement like this, make sure to join my email list. There are many sensory challenges we help our kids traverse when they are younger, haircuts is a major one.  Usually the hair salon or barber shop is loud, lots of new people, scratchy hair falling down the back of their shirt, uncomfortable cutting cape around their neck and having a stranger position their head.  This can add up to a major meltdown from the sensory overwhelm.  Not only does your kid need a break after a haircut, but likely you as well. You will benefit from my mistakes and learned experiences with these three steps for less stress at the hair salon.   ❤️‍🩹 Self - Care Coaching Available   📩 Connect with me: Instagram or Facebook   If you are enjoying this episode and want more encouragement like this, make sure to join my email list. At first the frustrations, misunderstanding and unmet needs slowly build up and are easier to ignore.  However, over time, these thoughts can become overwhelming and all you can see are the problems, the differences and the lonelienss. Added onto these overwhleming feelings are the holidays and the last thing your interested in is celebrating. Toxic positivity isn't the answer to this hopelessness, but what is?
