Description

Paloma Faith has had plenty of moments in her life when she's felt mad, sad or bad - or been told that's what she's being. But do these words mean the same for everyone? What does it mean if someone says you're mad: that you're angry? Unstable? Insane? Or perhaps just different... Could those words be liberating, therapeutic or even transformational?

To find out more, Paloma invites an array of actors, comedians, musicians and thinkers into her home to reflect on times where they've felt mad, sad, bad - and even glad - what they've understood and learnt from these experiences too.

This podcast takes us into Paloma's world, with friends and family popping in occasionally - come for the chaos; stay for the conversation!

My guest today is a fellow Hackney born and bred musician, who I’ve known since he was a kid…Kojey Radical!! He’s an incredible artist, creative director and poet, and has been nominated for MOBOs, Brits AND shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. We speak about what it’s like to blow up as a musician and trying not to let it get to your head, as well as what he gets up to when he’s left home alone…Kojey also talks about losing one of his closest friends to knife crime and the impact that had on him and his music. The Wickers Charity is a great organisation working to reduce knife crime and provide opportunities for young people in East London. It’s not every day a certified LEGEND like Richard E. Grant comes round for a chat on my sofa. Nicknamed the ‘Kindest Man in Hollywood’, he is an Oscar-nominated actor who starred in blockbusters like Withnail & I, Dracula and Saltburn. We covered everything from his turbulent childhood, losing his wife Joan of 38 years, being betrayed by a close friend - oh and Richard’s love of the Traitors. Richard also got a reading from my favourite tarot card-reading drag queen Miss Leigh Ding! Also, I still can’t believe he bumped into Olivia Coleman on the way here?!Thanks so much to @miss.leigh.ding for the amazing tarot!—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Emilia GillAssistant Producer: Alex ReedVideo: Harry Sawkins, Jake Ji & Lizzie McCarthySound: Rafi Amsili GeovannettiOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-ListerExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. I want to be Anne-Marie’s best friend! Not just because she’s a martial arts world champion and could karate kick anyone that came for me…but she’s also a super-mum and global music icon. She was so open in this chat, we covered all sorts, from her struggles adjusting to postpartum life to taking advice on how to be in the spotlight from KSI. We also channelled our inner rage and smashed up some bits in my garden with a baseball bat…I’m so grateful to Anne-Marie for joining me on the show and being so honest. Russell Kane is someone I have SO much respect for! I’m so grateful for his honesty in this conversation, from discussing sexual literacy to dealing with the loss of his dad. After winning his first comedy award in 2004, his career grew very quickly. He was forced to learn the ropes in the public eye and is open about his regrets. We also spoke about his Nan, who encouraged him to go to university and how she walked in on him… enjoying some alone time 😬 This was such a fascinating conversation, especially hearing Russell’s willingness to openly reflect on his own decisions and mistakes. I loved chatting to Russell and I hope you enjoy this episode!—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima Rathbone, Emilia GillAssistant Producer: Alex ReedVideo: Grisha Nikolsky, Josh Bennett and Harry SawkinsSound: Joe RichardsonMix: Rafi AmsiliOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima Rathbone & Ewan Newbigging-ListerExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. To kick off series three I had the pleasure of inviting Leigh-Anne over, who is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met!! A fellow mum and someone who isn’t afraid to use their platform for good, she found fame in one of the BIGGEST girl groups of all time, Little Mix. Now she’s taking on the industry as an independent artist, on her own terms. 💅We speak about the pressures musicians face, the impact of trolls on mental health as well life in the limelight as a working mum. She’s an absolute icon and I could’ve spoken to her all day!Leigh-Anne’s debut album ‘My Ego Told Me To’ is out on 20th February 2026.  —Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima Rathbone Video: Grisha Nikolsky, Josh Bennett and Harry SawkinsSound: Joe RichardsonEdit producer: Rema MukenaAssistant Producer: Alex ReedMix: Dan KingOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima Rathbone & Ewan Newbigging-ListerExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. I’m looking back at some of the saddest conversations from my series this year. Romesh Ranganathan reflects on losing his friend, while Leslie Jones also opens up about her experience of grief. And to spice things up, I also have a debate with Alan Carr about whether you really can cry and orgasm at the same time…so cosy up as we look back on what has really made us sad this year. This episode contains discussion of suicide which some listeners might find upsetting. Whatever you're going through, call Samaritans free any time, from any phone, on 116 123.—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Emilia GillEdit Producer: Alex ReedVideo: Lizzie McCarthy & @jakeji.pSound: Rafi Amsili and Dan King Original music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Here are my MADDEST conversations I’ve had this year. 🤪We hear from Ruby Wax about being fired multiple times, Samuel L. Jackson reminiscing about LA in the 60’s, Gary Stevenson on what happens when you suddenly have a load of money, and Jordan Stephens on...well, his love of puppies.Enjoy some of my favourite mad moments from this year and here's to another mad year!—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Emilia GillEdit Producer: Alex ReedVideo: Lizzie McCarthy & @jakeji.pSound: Rafi Amsili and Dan King Original music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Seeing as it is Christmas I thought it was time to pull the stops out and do a Mad, Sad and Bad special. Today we’re turning the show on its head as I get interviewed by the person who knows me better than anyone else in the world…my mum! For the first time I’m reversing roles and sitting in the hotseat while my mum asks ME about my mad, sad and bad. I spill my stories of working in a fetish club to make some extra cash, we reflect on the heartbreak of losing one of my best friends and we speak openly about our experiences in relationships. My mum also tells me about her wild days, kissing men in New York and streaking with friends. 😱This felt like a special one, it’s not often me and my mum get to sit down and reflect on life together.—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Emilia GillVideo: Lizzie McCarthy & @jakeji.pVideo Edit: Joel SommazziSound: Rafi AmsiliMix: Dan KingAssistant Producer: Alex ReedOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima Rathbone & @ewannewbigginglisterExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Leslie Jones is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. From SNL to Supermarket Sweep to Sing the movie, she is a force to be reckoned with. She simultaneously speaks truth to power whilst making people howl with laughter - a joy to have over!Leslie didn’t hold back talking about the self-improvement many men don’t engage with and how it is we are accidentally raising fuck boys. She also shares the saddest time of her life when she found out she’d lost her brother whilst on set and how she dealt with the grief. I can’t remember the last time I’ve laughed that much!!What an incredible episode to finish the series with - can’t wait for more, but in the meantime, we’ve got quite the archive for you to enjoy!#LESLIEJONES #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Jay BealeOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Estelle is an artist I’ve always looked up to - she can rap, she can sing, she can write - she’s conquered America but she’s a London girl at heart, so I was really excited to have her over to mine. After the phenomenal success of ‘American Boy’, Estelle shot to dizzying and mad heights of fame - we talk about the insanity of touring and how she made opportunity for herself, taking a chance and introducing herself to Kanye West. Estelle shares with me the pain of losing her grandmother and we discuss the power of a strong matriarch in a family unit.I also ask Estelle about her current relations with American Boys and introduce her to one of my own (NB might actually be from Bromley…)Also thanks to my mate, Seye Adelekan for playing so beautifully to us - you can follow him here: www.instagram.com/seyemusic#ESTELLE #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Rafi AmsiliOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Trixie Mattel is a drag queen who rose to fame in Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and later won Season 3 of the All-Stars, but more importantly, she took my song, Bad Woman, and turned it into a banging gay anthem!Together we chat about heartbreak and the madness it can drive us to, but the solace of boredom and simple things. We laugh about how full glam can be embarrassing when parenting and also when you’re stopped at customs travelling with a suitcase of drag outfits (or disguises!). We also talk about the state of America and the mess of keeping yourself informed whilst not losing your mind - Trixie spoke about not running but staying to fight the fight.I had so much fun with Trixie - we even have a little impromptu performance of Bad Woman - heaven! Now please can you help me get on RuPaul's Drag Race as a guest judge??#TRIXIEMATTEL #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Rafi AmsiliOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Jen Brister is someone who I admire not only for her fearless approach to comedy and life in general, but for her vocal stance on what’s happening in Palestine. She runs a non-profit to help families over there, All Our Relations and we met at a Palestine Solidarity event. Ever since then, I knew I wanted to have her on the pod...We chatted about the crossover with comedy, politics and questioning authority and were lucky enough to be joined by the amazing Professor Nick Maynard, a leading surgeon, who had just got back from a trip to Gaza two days prior. We spoke to him about what it’s like on the ground over there and how it feels to now be back in the UK. My amazing mate, Tai Shani, who’s a Turner Prize winning artist, and daughter of Holocaust survivors, also popped in to speak about why, as a Jewish woman, she feels so compelled to speak out against the horrors of what is happening in Palestine. This is a really special episode for me and something I’ve wanted to make for a long time. I wanted to re-humanise a situation that all too often gets turned into stats on a news report. Jamie Laing is the first posh person I’ve ever liked - before I first met him, I was convinced we wouldn’t get on, but within about 10seconds of our first meet, I was a fan. We’ve since become great friends and he’s the reason I have this podcast in the first place, so it felt right to have him over. Jamie is juggling A LOT: a multiple podcasts, a production company, Radio1 presenting, running Candy Kittens and most recently, preparing for fatherhood. He really opened up about the toll of doing so much and what drives him to do what he does. Jamie shares some of his naughtier antics both from Made In Chelsea and as a child, and he gets emotional reflecting on how his relationships with family have changed as he’s got older. My mum, like many mothers, is a huge fan of Jamie’s so obviously popped her head in to give Jamie some parenting advice.#JAMIELAING #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneAssistant Producer: Ceyda UzunVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Jay BealeOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. The price of living is rising and life is getting increasingly more difficult for many. Gary Stevenson was a trader who predicted and profited from the financial crash in 2008; suddenly he was richer than his wildest dreams, and the most depressed he’d ever been too. Quitting Citibank, he now devotes his time to educating millions via his YouTube channel and book, about the reality of why everything is costing more. So of course, I had to invite him over (and hopefully get some investment tips too…!)Gary opened up about the saddest time of his life, and how he couldn’t understand how he could feel so low whilst earning so much. We spoke about how and why he felt driven to overwork, which led to a breakdown, but at the end of it all, it’s always the people who have the least, who are the most generous.I really enjoyed chatting to Gary, although I’m still none the wiser on what to invest in!If you liked Gary, you can see more of his content here: www.youtube.com/garyseconomicsAnd his book here: www.penguin.co.uk/books/455809/the-trading-game-by-stevenson-gary/9781802062731#GARYSTEVENSON #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneAssistant Producer: Magda Cassidy, Emily D'SouzaVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Rafi Amsili Original music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. TW: This episode contains discussion of suicideRomesh Ranganathan is known for his BAFTA Award winning show, Rob & Romesh, presenting across TV and radio and his hallmark cynical comedy - but really, what shines through is his generosity, openness and vulnerability, particularly around the subject of mental health. We talk about how hard it is to tell when someone’s really struggling with their mental health, talking therapy with your children, what it’s really like going to Centre Parcs when you’re in the public eye and Romesh makes a big, BAD confession. Plus – Romesh’s Mum, Shanthi pops by for a chat with me and my mum, Pam; we talk all about Shanthi’s incredible sacrifices, the impact of Romesh’s relationship with his Dad on his mental health – and Romesh and I bond over what it’s like having Mums that will fight for you on social media comments but also humble you more than anyone. Hope you all enjoy xIf you would like support on any of the issues mentioned in the episode, please head to CALM - www.thecalmzone.net#ROMESHRANGANATHAN #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Exec Producer: Jemima RathboneProducer: Magda CassidyVideo: Josh Bennett & Lizzie McCarthySound: Shane O'BryneMix: Shane O'BryneOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. Amy Jackson is Bollywood royalty - she's also a Scouser, so when she said she'd pop by, jut a few weeks after giving birth to her second child, I was delighted!Anyone who's ever had a baby knows the utter madness and hormonal chaos in the weeks following the birth; however Amy turned up looking like a movie star - apparently it just takes a blow-dry and some Spanx! We chatted about bullies who sadly still exist in every industry, and Amy shared a story of an uncomfortable work situation which reminded her to never go against her gut instinct. We were also rather rudely interrupted by my neighbour Nicky, who was back causing havoc (you can follow him on IG @nickyjohnstone)I adored chatting to Amy - but I’m still convinced that she’s more ‘Bad’ than she says she is…#AMYJACKSON #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneAssistant Producer: Magda CassidyVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Miles WhewayOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. People always tell me that Jordan Stephens is the kind of man we need more of in the world—and honestly, I couldn’t agree more. You might know Jordan as one half of the iconic hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks, but he’s since grown into a powerful voice across multiple platforms. He’s a podcaster, actor, and now a Sunday Times bestselling author with his raw and brilliant memoir Avoidance, Drugs, Heartbreak and Dogs.Jordan opens up about the damage we do in relationships - how he’s confronted his own past, learned from his mistakes, and worked to heal from the pain he’s caused and the pain he’s carried. We also explore love, masculinity, and why acts of hatred towards an entire gender might be a mirror for something unresolved within ourselves. Jordan holds a type of vulnerability that’s powerful and raw, and his commitment to honesty is both disarming and inspiring. It was a privilege having Jordan on, even though he may have stolen my mum’s heart in the process...#JORDANSTEPHENS #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneAssistant Producer: Magda Cassidy & Ceyda UzunVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Dan KingOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. I have always admired Munroe Bergdorf and love putting the world to rights with her when everything feels like it’s going up in flames around us. I wish there were more people like her in the world!Munroe opens up about the dangers of apathy, how she’s staying hopeful, the impact that current world politics are having on the trans community and the importance of both speaking up AND speaking out. We also chat about perfectionism, her new book and her relationship with her Mum – plus, my Mum joins us too!I adored speaking to Munroe – she gives me so much hope during tricky times – but I’m slightly worried she’s going to be better friends with my Mum than me now...Hope you all enjoy this episode x#MUNROEBERGDORF #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBAD—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Jemima RathboneAssistant Producer: Magda CassidyVideo: Grisha Nikolsky & Josh BennettSound: Shane O'BryneMix: Shane O'BryneOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Jemima RathboneExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald Hosted on Acast. These two are hysterical together. i'm grieving now that it's over. This is the kind of shit that gets you through breakups, job losses, cancer treatment, and maybe even Trump.
