Description

Hosted by me, Sam Little, the Maple Footy podcast, is a home for football/soccer to get their fix of talking footy. Covering relevant Canadian Footy stories at the start of every episode so that you're in the know of what's going on with the Beautiful Game in Canada. Each international break will see me cover in-depth the games and news coming out of each game, whether it's a tournament or just friendlies, we'll talk about it! Regularly scheduled content is the English Premier League & Canadian Premier League Recaps, where I talk about each matchday, giving my opinions on the matter. I'll sprinkle in other tidbits too to each episode of what is happening in the Canadian World of Footy. This is Maple Footy, the Podcast from the North and Canada's (Unofficial) Football Podcast.

Ali Ahmed also finally gets his move to Europe. Elsewhere, Liam Millar and Hull hit highs then lows. And Jonathan David had a tough outing... let's talk about it all.
With the beginning of 2026 it means there's only one thing left to do that's related to 2025. And that is to recap Canada Soccer's year in 2025. We talk about the debut of the NSL, the trumiphs of the CPL, our MLS boys and those players abroad to. Here's part 2/2 let's talk about it...

The MLS Cup final took place over the weekend, with the Canadian Team, the Vancouver Whitecaps, taking the big stage for the first time in their history. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be, but it was still a great season from them and loads to be proud of. Elsewhere, we discuss some of our boys in Europe and how their weeks went. Then another main talking point is that Canada has drawn their group for the World Cup. Our confirmed opponents Qatar and Switzerland, then still up there air for our opening match is Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales and Bosnia. So let's talk about it...
A big week in Canadian Soccer as the Vancouver Whitecaps have qualified for their first MLS Cup final appearance. They handled San Diego quite well and will now play Messi's Inter Miami. In this episode, I break down the Western Conference Final and preview the MLS Final itself. Elsewhere, we also discuss the rebrand of York United to Inter Toronto FC, a good week for David Squared and our other strikers are balling as well. Let's talk about it.
Super excited to finally share this episode with you. I really enjoyed having Matteo Campagna on the podcast. Gem of a player and gem of a guy. Did the interview during the off-season on his iPhone, something he does not have to do. We talking about his footballing journey to this point, Vancouver's amazing Can Champ run, playing against Thomas Müller and future career aspirations...
On this Canada Soccer Round up, we're talking about Vancouver's win over LAFC to take them to the Conference final, the furthest they've ever been in the playoffs! Elsewhere, we check in on some of our boys in Europe, how they're fairing at club level. And in some sad news we talk about Valour and the unfortunate news coming out of Winnipeg.
Canada brings an end to our international windows for the year, and it's with a win against Venezuela. Not without its fair share of talking points, however, still wasting chances, injuries and red cards are plaguing the squad at the moment. But at least a win is a win, our boys finally also got back on the scoresheet while keeping a clean sheet. So let's talk about it...
This was definetly an interesting one but another game where we saw some of our same issues not get resolved. BUT we saw some proper character from our boys in red, they played with a proper passion and pride in their shirts and for that we gotta be a little bit happy with this result. On the flip side of that we also have to demand a little bit more at times. Let's talk about it...
The time has come to do our 2025 season recap for the CPL! It was a great season filled with loads of highs and lows, so lets take a look at each team, what impressed me with each of them, what they could improve on for next season and so much more. We also have our version of the CPL awards.
That Snowy Night In Ottawa... what can be said about a Canadian Final being played in snow? The jokes basically write themselves, but what a night and what a moment for the CPL. It was a game of moments and my word there were some special moments in this one... let's talk about it!
The final international break of the year is nearly upon us! So there's only one way to prep for it. We gotta talk about some of the inclusions and exclusions heading into the final 2 games of the year. So let's talk about it...
Some good Canadian news, especially in the MLS! We discuss some of our boys in the middle of their playoff runs, a word on Dayne St. Clair and of course a good chunk of time devoted to the Whitecaps! Let's chat...
Man oh man, in another post-season twist for the first time in SEVEN seasons, Forge will not be playing in the final game of the season. Something that you would think is rather shocking, having gone undefeated for much of the season. But it will be Cavalry making the trip to Ottawa on November 9th to fight for the North Star Cup. The Cavs are coming in-in red hot form looking maybe even better than the team they were last year at this time. Ottawa of course will be looking to lift the trophy at home... it should be fun. Let's talk about it all...
