I'm kicking off 'World, Opportunity' by hopping across the pond to Europe! ✈️ Meet Lushentha Naidoo, a part of the pioneering force behind the European Supplier Diversity Program. We chat about the real talk on global business development, from navigating Europe (it's a continent, not a country! 😉) to the power of visibility for minority businesses. Lushentha shares her incredible journey, growing up during South African apartheid, and why equity and education are her passions. Get ready to expand your mindset! 💡 -- About Lushentha Naidoo: Lushentha started her career in South Africa over 15 years ago as a finance management trainee at Unilever and worked in over seven countries across five continents. She discovered her passion for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) during this time. As Supply Chain Director, Lushentha led large scale transformation and circular economy projects, successfully set up the EDI SC strategy in Europe (growing gender diversity by +5% in one year). Leaving role at Unilever was an extremely difficult decision for her but having grown up as a woman of colour in apartheid South Africa, Lushentha knew that she had to use her lived experience to make an impact on the world. Lushentha managed to combine her experiences and passion to set up and lead ESDP, a non-profit organisation based in the Netherlands, focused on closing the socio-economic gap by bringing together European Ethnic Minority Businesses (EMBs) with industry leaders who are committed to inclusive procurement and supplier diversity. ESDP is the first advocacy network on continental Europe to certify ethnic minority suppliers in the Netherlands, France and Germany with a database of over 500 suppliers. -- 🩵 About the Fast Forward Podcast: Welcome to the Fast Forward Podcast ⏩, where we accelerate entrepreneurs and business leaders from dreams to action. Join us for Season 5's first "Out of Scope" episode on the late 90s movie, The Siege, to extract profound lessons on conflict management. This film beautifully illustrates how the "villain shifts constantly," mirroring real-life conflicts where the perceived enemy or ideology might not be the actual root cause. I discuss how the character Samir exposes common human blind spots: ego, oversimplification, and hyper-fixation. This episode emphasizes the "power of collective purpose" and why addressing the underlying ideology or purpose of a problem is crucial to conflict resolution not just conflict management.--- 🩵 About the Fast Forward Podcast: Welcome to the Fast Forward Podcast ⏩, where we accelerate entrepreneurs and business leaders from dreams to action.I'm Kalyn Romaine, a founder, organizational psychologist, and executive coach who has transformed Fortune 100 companies 📈, unicorn startups 🦄, and the largest local governments 🏙️ for more than 15 years. 💜 I share practical intellectualism with a splash of witty wisdom about business transformation, leadership development, and HR insights🔔 Subscribe and click the notification bell for new episodes and join me every week to evolve.🟪 Explore the Forward Collective Group: https://4wardcollective.com⬜️ Stay Connected: 🔹 LinkedIn: @4wardcollective 🔹 Facebook: @4wardcollective 🔹 Instagram: @4wardcollective

Through real-life examples, including a social media interaction and dating scenarios, I illustrate when to "step out of the ring" and avoid unnecessary engagement, especially with those looking to provoke or emotionally dump. Learn how avoid taking on other people's dysfunction in order to preserve your emotional and logical reserves. --- 🩵 About the Fast Forward Podcast: Welcome to the Fast Forward Podcast ⏩, where we accelerate entrepreneurs and business leaders from dreams to action. We're shifting our focus to the tangible outcomes of conflict management: performance, productivity, and behavioral change. I'll explain why defining clear performance standards mitigates conflicts even when majority opinions differ. You'll discover why you must check your ego and avoid enabling dysfunction, especially when "favorite people" subsidize your immaturity. Then, I share the profound impact of family dysfunction and conflict mismanagement on an individual's adult approach to performance, productivity, and behavioral change, highlighting how early experiences can shape resistance to compromise and collaboration.--- 🩵 About the Fast Forward Podcast: Welcome to the Fast Forward Podcast ⏩, where we accelerate entrepreneurs and business leaders from dreams to action.I'm Kalyn Romaine, a founder, organizational psychologist, and executive coach who has transformed Fortune 100 companies 📈, unicorn startups 🦄, and the largest local governments 🏙️ for more than 15 years.
Who pulls our life's strings? We're breaking down "locus of control", which measures the amount of control someone feels over their life's events, ranging from an external locus (life controlled by fate, others, higher power) to an internal locus (you are fully in control). I'll share why misjudging your locus of control can cause more harm than good in conflict management, especially in professional settings where power, influence, and privilege play a significant role. Finally, I'll discuss the importance of contextualizing your locus of control within your "longer story" or career plan, understanding when to compromise, compete, or avoid, and how this strategic perspective can guide your conflict management actions.--- 🩵 About the Fast Forward Podcast: Welcome to the Fast Forward Podcast ⏩, where we accelerate entrepreneurs and business leaders from dreams to action.I'm Kalyn Romaine, a founder, organizational psychologist, and executive coach who has transformed Fortune 100 companies 📈, unicorn startups 🦄, and the largest local governments 🏙️ for more than 15 years.

What if hope isn’t a feeling—it’s a strategy? Last month, we dissected grief. Now, we’re flipping the script: hope is the antidote, but only when paired with action. This isn’t about wishful thinking—it’s about redesigning your roadmap using proven change models, sticky plans, and the courage to rewrite the norms you’ve consented to. In this episode, I'll delve into: 🔹 How I built a 10-year career blueprint with 20% clarity (and why perfection is overrated). 🔹 The 4 change management models that turn abstract hope into action (Action Research, Tuckman’s Stages, and more). 🔹 Why “sunrise hope” beats waiting for lightning bolts—small glimmers lead to unstoppable momentum. 🔹 How to stop consenting to outdated norms and redesign team cultures that align with your values. This isn’t just theory. I’m breaking down my own journey—from navigating extreme career pivots to parenting myself through setbacks—and giving you the tools to build a plan that’s flexible enough to bend, but sticky enough to last.
