Martha and Jenni met as teachers at the same progressive school where their kids werestudents and became each other's children's key teachers. Jenni ran mini shopping trolleyraces down corridors with Martha's son for vestibular regulation. Martha provided Jenni'sdaughters with peanut balls to bounce on so they could focus enough to write andcalculate Maths whilst reciting favourite Bluey episodes.Despite 40 years combined teaching experience and knowing exactly whatneurodivergent children needed, they both realised their own AuDHD/PDA kids weren'tschool-shaped. Not even alternative-school-shaped. So over 3 years ago, they left theirteaching jobs and the education system and started their real education. When they couldn't find home ed clubs that could accommodate their demand-avoidantchildren, they created Make & Create Club: a flexible, low-demand space where rulemakers, rule breakers thrive. They offer community, advocacy and the freedom to beyourself. Now through AuDHDacious Humans, they provide online support for discombobulatedfamilies to understand sensory systems, reframe behaviour, and ditch systems that breakthem. They've lived this experience too, as late-diagnosed AuDHDers, parenting pressure-sensitive children, unravelling everything they thought they knew about parenting and education. Some people call it a journey. They call it a reckoning.Website: www.audhdacious.comEmail: team@audhdacious.comInstagram: @audhdacious.humansBuy your copy of ADHD Magazine here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!
Jason Blackman is a 3x Emmy winning comedy writer and creator. His credits include The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Little Ellen, an animated musical series he co-created, wrote, and produced for HBO Max and Warner Bros. Animation. Jason also makes funny videos about what it’s like living with ADHD, which is how I found him one night when i was randomly having a scroll through Instagram. I had a brilliant chat with Jason, he's a naturally funny person, but he also shared another side of his personality in this interview.Check him out on Instagram Buy your copy of ADHD Magazine here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!
I've completed the collection! Today I have the final member of the ADHD Adults joining me on the podcast. Dr Alex Conner is here to talk about what i thought was addiction but now, thanks to Alex, I'm viewing it completely differently. I had a brilliant chat with Alex but please listen with caution this week as we cover some things that may be triggering to some people. We also go off on some mega tangents! Enjoy! For those of you who aren't familiar with Alex...Alex has combined his experience as an adult with ADHD, an ADHD coach and a brain scientist to become a trusted voice in psychoeducation in the ADHD community.Alex is sometimes known as“The Psychoeducation Monkey, as the co-founder and co-host of one of the UK’s most popular ADHD podcasts: ‘The ADHD Adults’. The podcast is one of the ways in which Alex (with his friend and colleague James Brown), communicate the complex evidence behind the causes and treatments of ADHD. Together they combat stigma and disinformation around ADHD and co-founded the registered advocacy and psychoeducational charity “ADHDadultUK” and their evidence-based online magazine for adults with ADHD, Focusmag.uk.Buy your copy of ADHD Magazine here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!
As we all know, the reason I named the podcast AuDHD Or Just A Bit Weird is because that's what I've always been called throughout my life and always in a derogatory manner... But since starting the podcast I've reclaimed weird as a positive thing and this is where the amazing Holly Matthews comes into the picture...Holly Matthews is a former TV actress (Byker Grove, Waterloo Road, Casualty) and singer (Signed to Sony at 18, appeared on TOTP’s, MTV, Disney) who learnt how to use her ‘weird’ to stand out from the crowd. After the death of her husband to brain cancer in 2017, when she was just 32, the mum of 2 began her mission to help others to embrace their own ‘weird’, build their confidence and feel ‘more happy and less crappy’.The Happy Me Project runs events across the UK, is an online coaching membership, podcast and has seen Holly asked to speak and create workshops for Aldi, SEND prison, Sainsburys and wellbeing festivals across the UK.For all things Holly...Be weird (er) LiveThe Happy Me Project Membership Your FREE Weird is your Winning Edge Unmasking workbook + pep talkBuy your copy of ADHD Magazine here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!
SO MUCH TO CRAM IN TO ONE EPISODE!!!! But I think I've managed it! There's a mega life update at the beginning and then I had the pleasure this week of chatting with the amazing Sally Cater who is a coach who coaches coaches! I've been keen to find out more about coaching and what training to become one involves and Sally was happy to help me out but as usual with all of my guests, we go off on some fun tangents including swimming in the sea, Sally's impending ADHD assessment, her amazing talent for napping and her brush with the law! (The two hilariously go hand in hand!)In Sally's own words...I spent more than a decade working at the British Red Cross, including training frontline crisis teams to provide psychosocial support in some unbelievably difficult conditions. During this time, I became an Accredited Senior Practitioner Coach with the EMCC and hold the ILM highest level in Advanced Coaching and Mentoring. After striking out on my own as a leadership consultant and executive coach. I combined both my lived experience and formal learning in ADHD with the understanding gained from many years supporting neurodivergent clients to design and deliver an ICF accredited ADHD course for coaches. I really needed the support that ADHD coaching gave me and I know there are loads of brilliant people out there that could really benefit from ADHD coaching and so we need you to be part of that community. With over 2000 hours of coaching across technology, healthcare, and automotive industries, I adopt a whole-self approach to non-directive coaching. I have a strong connection with neurodivergent people, having discovered my own ADHD while coaching a senior leader with ADHD.Buy your copy of ADHD Magazine here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!

Health anxiety has been something that has monopolized a lot of my thought processes since I was a child and I know many other neurodivergent people who also struggle with this. As my mate Erin is one of those people and she's someone I trust and find it easy to talk to her I knew she was the perfect person to have on the podcast to talk about it, however, our brains had other ideas and at the halfway mark we segued nicely into talking about what makes us happy, learning to allow ourselves to be happy eradicating the shame attached to being drawn to the more traditionally childish and geeky things that we love and that make us super happy!Enjoy! For all things Erin related click here!Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Support neurodivergent independent businesses: Shop at Born Anxious using the code AUDHD15 for a special price!Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!Purchase your official hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard here!

Approximately 18 billion years ago I had a really good mate called Blair who was a fellow quirky person with an awesome sense of humour and never judged me for being my weirdy self. Over the years we lost touch and I always wondered what became of them... until one day a few weeks ago when Blair turned up in my "people you may know" on Instagram... Without hesitating (naturally impulsive nature anyone?!) I added Blair and got chatting... and would you believe it.... Blair was diagnosed with ADHD 2 days after me!!! I'm thrilled that Blair was happy to come on the podcast so we could catch up and talk about how we are feeling post diagnosis. Please note that this is a very candid chat between two old mates who hadn't seen each other in an age. We cover a ton of topics and I'm so grateful for Blair coming on the podcast to share their story. Blair is a Scottish vocal coach, lecturer, songwriter and performance artist based in South London. They are the founder and artistic director of Errata, London’s Queerest Choir and collaborates frequently with LGBTQIA+ choirs and vocal groups. Blair is currently studying a PhD, creating cabaret performances and is the mother of all cats.Send me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs on instagramor email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here! You can help support The Big ADHD Fundraiser by buying a Dave Kirkman hoodie here!

The last time Sam and I recorded together (which was meant to be about sex, relationships and gender) we managed to stay on topic for about 45 minutes and then we pretty much forgot we were recording for the next hour or so and as a Christmas gift here's the "best" bits from that previously unreleased part of that conversation. Please bear in mind that this is a chat between two good mates who both have a slightly wicked sense of humour so some of the stuff we say should be taken with a pinch of salt.I'll be back in a couple of weeks to start season 2 and to resolve last episode's cliff-hanger! Until then, I hope you all have the Christmas you need for you. Essex-based neurodivergent artist and colour lover, David Kirkman turns the chaos, honesty and lived experience of AuDHD and mental-health ups and downs into bold, positive art that celebrates exactly who we are — fully and unapologetically. We talked not only about art, and how David found his way to becoming a professional artist, but also labels, David's experience of going through the diagnosis process and getting out of our comfort zones and what that means for us as neurodivergent people. For all things David:Check out his Instagram And for more information on how to purchase your very own artwork check out his websiteSend me your little wins so I can celebrate you on the podcast by either sliding into my DMs here or email me at audhdorjustabitweird@gmail.com Find your local ADHDAF+ peer support group here!

It's just me this week with a follow up to the Mucky F**ker episode. This week we had people (who we both ADORE!) over to stay. TERRIFYING!!! Did we manage to get the house into an ok enough state to have guests over? Did I managed to keep my shit together? Did I spend far too much money on Lego??? No, sadly not the godfather of soul, but the Dracula of The ADHD Adults podcast, Professor James Brown joins me on the podcast today for one of my most open and honest episodes yet. MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING: This week James and I talk about disordered eating. We both speak from lived experience and James also talks about the science behind why so many neurodivergent people struggle with this. Not only is today the fourth annual ADHDAF day, but I've got the awesome Erin Fung of alt_audhd fame on the podcast to talk about what it's like parenting AuDHD children as an AuDHD parent, how things have changed with parenting generationally and coping with ARFID. We, of course go off on many tangents today including what made me pluck up the courage to invite her onto the podcast... our mutual love of the movie Labyrinth, funko pops and the muppets!
