Friends and fellow weirdos, I am pleased to present today's guest, Ernie Hubbard. He's a scientist, a businessman, a creative force, a fully enrolled student in the school of the eternally curious, and a total sweetheart. We talked about his upbringing in Marin County and the Sacramento Valley, the 1960s counter-culture, organic farming, his love affair with biology, a near-death experience that brought him closer to God, and much more. Check in with your biofield and give this one a listen. Share and Enjoy!Learn more about Ernie here - https://erniehubbard.wordpress.com/
Ladies and Slime Molds, I present to you the most gracious emissary of Ganymede, Lord Running Clam (aka David Hyde)! Lord Running Clam is a writer, a chronicler, a gatherer of like-minded souls, and a friend of Dickheads everywhere. I met up with LRC via the internet to talk about his life in literature, community organizing, general weirdness, and more. Share and Enjoy!
After nearly a year away, the Monkey Tooth Podcast is back. I sat down with my longtime pal Adem Vant Hull — woodworker, musician, painter, and cook — for a wide-ranging conversation about growing up in Minneapolis, losing a parent young, finding purpose in craft, and what it means to genuinely love what you do. Adem also talks about his upcoming one-day art show at Atelier Woodworks in New Orleans on March 28th, 2026, where he'll be showcasing furniture, cutting boards, birdhouses, and more — plus a special contribution from his son Bo. If you're anywhere near New Orleans, get your ass in an Uber, have some drinks, and buy a birdhouse.Share and Enjoy!
In this episode, Andrew speaks with Noémie Marmara - a multidisciplinary artist, poet, and ceramicist living in the south of France. Together, they explore the emotional, spiritual, and physical properties of clay, art, and the unseen forces that shape both. What begins as a conversation about vessels becomes a meditation on identity, perception, neurodivergence, trauma, and transformation. Noémie shares her personal story with unflinching honesty and poetic insight, revealing how art can emerge from fracture—and why imperfection may be the most powerful form of beauty. Spotify has kicked a few episodes off the feed - I'm putting them back in. This is one of them...Ohh man...how fortunate are we to live in the same world as today's guest, Erik Lomen. First of all, I only got to meet Erik because of serendipitous timing, bad weather in Cheyenne, WY, a not-to-be-missed Boston Celtics game, my propensity to arrive early for meals, my preference for eating at the bar, and a chance encounter with Erik's delightful and interesting mom, Marcy. Based solely on her hardly disinterested say-so, I drove to Gardiner Maine to spend the day with one of our new favorite people. Erik is the host of "The Myco Wizards Podcast", and founder and brainchild behind the wildly innovative Maine Cap 'N Stem - a supplier of spore-ready substrate for cultivators of mushrooms from Lion's Mane to Penis Envy. This is NOT a stoner, freaky mushroom weirdo episode...well, it is, but it's also much more. Erik is a deeply thoughtful, battle-tested polymath with a heart of red oak; perfect for taking mycelium to all its favorite places. Tune in for a particularly interesting ride. Writer, thinker, father, educator, Total Dickhead - David Gill is my guest this week. He joins us to talk about deconstruction, literature, the brilliance of Philip K. Dick, learning to understand your parents and yourself, what it's like to battle the university to whom you've given nearly two decades of your life, and more. We had a good time, I think you might too. Share and Enjoy! Also, he's not a dick.

Today's guest is what I call a gentle genius. His name is Randy Polumbo,
and I think he might be one of the coolest people I've ever met. He's an
artist, a builder, a thinker, a father, a propagator of mycelium, a fan of
eating bugs, and a kindhearted creative of the highest order. I met with
him at his shop in Brooklyn to talk about childhood toys, owl pellets, the
Gowanus Canal, art, sound, and more. Share and Enjoy!

Howdy, Friends! My guest today is the lovely and talented filmmaker, writer, producer, and systems architect Dulcinée DeGuere. We had a chat on the computer; thanks to modern editing techniques and no small amount of patience and skill on the part of yours truly, it sounds like we had a totally natural and uninterrupted conversation. Even over the internet I found Dulcinée to be a charming, intelligent, and lovely person. Share and Enjoy!

Jon Rolston is either a poet who deals in junk or a junkman who deals in poetry. In any case, he's a super hip collector and steward of wayward objects. I caught up with him at his shop in San Francisco to talk trash. We cover a variety of topics, including death, consumerism, hope, flea markets, a five-year plan that took fifteen to materialize, and more. Join me for a chat with the Junkman himself. Share and Enjoy!
In addition to being a poet, sculptor, photographer, storyteller, and thinker, Wanda Orme is also a hilarious problem solver (an even funnier troublemaker) and one of my new favorite people on the planet. We spent a little time in the van chatting about art, loss, life, and the bizarre miracle of Bombay Beach, CA. Share and Enjoy!

I'm pleased to share my early morning, coffee-fueled conversation with Christopher Gallo, but just call him Gallo. As a highly skilled cinematographer, storyteller, filmmaker, and director of photography for film and television, Gallo has taste, style, and a searing sense of humor. As a collaborator and neighbor at the Bombay Beach Biennale, he was a hilarious delight to be around. We talked about his recently completed documentary, "Healing Cube," his East Coast roots, his artistic influences, and what it's like to be a damn good dad. Share and Enjoy, Friends!

Next up in our Bombay Beach series is writer and philosopher Eric Kaplan. He's so profoundly got his shit together he sent in a proper bio!
A native of Flatbush, New York, Eric Kaplan began writing for Spy magazine and the Harvard Lampoon before getting his first television-writing job on The Late Show with David Letterman. Before THE BIG BANG THEORY, he worked on other shows including Futurama (for which he won an Emmy), Flight of the Conchords, Malcolm in the Middle, and Andy Richter Controls the Universe. Kaplan created "Zombie College" for icebox and co-created "The Drinky Crow Show" and "Mongo Wrestling Alliance" for Adult Swim through his company Mirari Films. Kaplan has his PhD from UC Berkeley in philosophy on the comic in the philosophy of Soren Kierkegaard. His book Does Santa Exist: A Philosophical Investigation was published by Dutton in 2014 and has been called by Matt Groening "the funniest philosophy book since...well, ever." His science fiction and philosophy have appeared in the New York Times.
We touched on philosophy, writing, comedy, summer camp, and the many blindspots in my worldview. We completely failed to talk about his inherited collection of blues records, his daring and courageous work in the Himalayas, and what it's like hosting a podcast with Tao Ruspoli. Always leave 'em wanting more, right? Share and Enjoy!

Sweet, thoughtful, capable, and talented, Cody Orrell, aka Cody the Roadie, joins the program. Straight from the Lower East Side of Bombay Beach, California, Cody took a chunk of time out of his busy schedule to chat with me about music, working with high-level musicians, repairing and maintaining iconic gear, and more. Cody has worked with some of the most talented and successful musicians on the planet, including Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Roger Waters, and, not to be outdone, Foreigner. Oh, and the end of the episode features an original tune by Cody - a complex and beautiful portion of a 9-minute sound bath. This one was a treat. Share and Enjoy!

Whoooa! Hold your horses, cowboy. Pull up a chair and open a cold one for this here podcast episode with my friend and yours, Sean Guerrero. Now Sean, you see, he's not yer' everyday artist. That feller is a sculptor, a welder, a performer, a traveler, a seeker of wisdom in a land of lost souls, and a mighty good foster parent to a plane full of robot orphans. We yammered on about Bono, a giant glowing orb needlessly showing the desert pictures of itself, train-rattled skin care, art happenings in Fat City, The Bombay Beach Biennale, terrifying health conditions, time travel, space rockets in the night sky, and a whole lot more. I reckon you'd best take yer time with this one. Y'all share and enjoy now.

Do you know how wind works? Do you know where a Herring gets its breakfast when making more Herring? Have you any idea how to untangle the complexity of the near-shore environment along the coast of North America? Well, our guest, Dr. Carl Schoch sure does! Dr. Carl is an oceanographer, a traveler, an adventurer, and a world-class sweetheart. The following episode is a re-print from the Raised By Whoops Fake Radio Show from the halcyon days of 2022. Back when the only thing we had to worry about was what to worry about next. Since then, Dr. Carl has cycled from our house near San Francisco to Mexico and the length of the continental divide from Banff to Mexico. As if that weren’t enough, he’s now preparing for a 1,500-plus-mile kayak journey through the Inside Passage from Skagway, Alaska, to Victoria Island, BC.
