Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads are joined by Justin Green from Propositions! Justin, Nate and Jesse talk about Justin's new single, "Death Plan, feat. UnWorthy" that dropped 5/18. Justin fills them in on his influences, what it's like building a band on his own, from the ground up, and finding help from his personal heroes in the scene. Projects like Propositions are proof that the DIY spirit of hardcore is still alive and well. Be sure to check out Propositions new single and follow @propositions_hc for more!Later in the podcast, Jesse and Nate go over the final STACKED lineup for Sound and Fury and get excited about the festival in August. In Dad World, the guys talk about how busy life can be, and the crazy demands that are placed not only on parents, but on their kids as well. With life so demanding nowadays, getting away and spending time together as a family, apart from the pressures of life is key. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads talk about the Terror show in Pomona at the Glasshouse and the conflict between security and the fans and the struggle that comes with venues who, in the words of Scott Vogel, want the money from hardcore, without being hardcore. They also discuss the lineup announcement from Furnace Fest and how the future of the festival was finally revealed. While whoever bought Furnace Fest out obviously has deep pockets and is able to bring in the biggest names in heavy music, the fear for those who cherish the spirit of Furnace Fest is that the heart of the festival is now gone. While mental health is a major focus of this podcast, physical health is a big deal too, so Nate and Jesse share their tips on preventing a week of soreness from one night in a mosh pit. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads talk about work trips, deathcore shows, their takes on whether mixed-genre shows are a good thing, and the future of music in the world of AI. In dad-world, Jesse and Nate share lessons they've learned since having kids. Being a dad forces a sort of selflessness in which you have to put aside your own wants and then get rewarded with how awesome it is to get to see your family grow and flourish. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads are joined by James, another dad who moshes. Jesse gave in and bought a ticket for A Day To Remember's Big Ol Boat Tour and Nate really thinks that this could be the Raiders' year. The dads talk about how "hardcore " shows really are when they cost $50 a ticket. With the growth of the scene, hardcore bands are getting bigger and bigger, plus massive ticketing companies, it's getting further and further from the days of $5 shows in a dingy venue. Later, the guys talk about how to raise tough kids without just being a "tough" dad. How do we effectively show our kids that sometimes life gets hard, and resist the urge to just keep them from having to go through anything hard? How can we show them that life can be hard, but make sure they know that we'll be there for them, no matter what they're going through? Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Jesse and Nate debate whether In and Out is actually good, Jesse talks cruises, and they talk about taking your kids to hardcore shows - is it a good thing to do, and if so, what are the rules of engagement with kids there? Also, the guys reveal another layer of their inner souls and reveal their guilty pleasure bands that they've been too afraid to admit up until this point and it does not go as Nate planned...The dads also go over the idea of how to deal with the stress of life in healthy ways, versus unhealthy ways. Unhealthy ways of dealing with stress often involved quick "fixes" that are never actually permanent fixes, but they make you feel better momentarily, only to leave you feeling the same, if not worse once it wears off. Longevity is the name of the game when it comes to mental health. Pain sucks, but it's not always a bad thing in and of itself, and if we can embrace it and power through it, we'll be better off in the long run. This week's segments:Bands you should know:Nate: Special Move (@specialmoveofficial)Jesse: xSeraphx (@xseraphx_)Hardcore News:- A Day To Remember announces "Big Ole Boat Cruise" w/ Knocked Loose and more- Drama continues for ex-Turnstile member Brady Ebert- Terror plays pop-up show to kick off collab w/ Born x RaisedNew Music Releases- Terror - "Fear the Panic", feat. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! Nate runs solo this week and starts be re-capping the Drain show with No Pressure, Haywire and Secret World. As the Great Mosh Debate continues, a few things are becoming clear: people in the hardcore community have strong opinions about moshing (to put it lightly), and at this point, "hardcore" music covers a wide spectrum: from deathcore, to beatdown, to hardcore punk, to what Nate is now calling "pop-core". Lots of folks think that they have the market cornered on what is actually "hardcore", but just like the people in the scene, heavy bands are all different, and the diversity makes this growing scene better as the years go by. Later, Nate talks about the frustrations of depression and anxiety. Not only are those two things incredibly difficult to deal with on a daily basis, but oftentimes, guys can feel guilty or even angry that they are experiencing those negative emotions because everything in life is seemingly fine. It's in those moments that it never really helps to have someone just tell you to "look on the brightside" or try to list off all of the great things in your life. What can really help is just having someone to listen and not judge, knowing that depression and anxiety often don't have a cause that we can easily explain away. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! In this episode, Nate and Jesse are sending all of their love, thoughts and prayers to the Bo Leuder's family and friends, and everyone with the Hardlore Podcast and Harm's Way. Bo's passing highlights the secret struggles that men deal with, and the importance of checking in with your friends. Even more than checking in, dad's need to be intentional about setting aside time where we are really asking each other how we are doing and put aside the awkwardness and being honest about how tough life can be sometimes. If you, or someone you know is hurting, or needs help, you can talk to someone right now. Help is available. Dial 988 to talk to someone right away. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Jesse and Nate are joined by fellow Dad Who Moshes, Marco! Marco and the guys talk about music festivals, why Furnace Fest didn't work out, "Chadcore", and why Nate should get into hockey. Today, each dad shares one of their greatest struggles with being a father. Whether it's feeling like you're not there enough, trying to let go of control when you know that one day your kids will be adults and you can't hold onto them forever, and not holding your past hurts against your kids. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This weeks, Jesse goes over some of the woes of doing graduate school in your 30's and Nate shares what it was like going to Disney for the first time ever. Later, the dads go over tips for anyone who is going to a hardcore show for the first time, and a bit more of "Hardcore 101". What's the difference in moshing styles? Is one better than the other? What's the most important thing to remember at a hardcore show? On the dad life side of things, the guys chat about the struggle of growing up in a scene that was so anti-culture and pushed against the "American Dream" and then becoming and adult that still loves that music and that scene, but also has to clock in and out of a normal job and pay the bills. The dads start this week by recounting their recent home repair woes and how your household appliances seem to know when you have extra money...so that they can die on you. Jesse and Nate also discuss the state of hardcore and its growing popularity. Are massively popular heavy bands good for the scene? What makes a band "baddie-core"? Has Knocked Loose discovered the key to making it big without selling out?Later, they go over the topic of male friendship and why it seems so difficult for guys, especially dads, to make good, solid friends. Life gets busy, and lots of guys feel like they need to go it alone, but we all need someone that is there for us, no matter what. Jesse and Nate talk all things hardcore music and the scene, as well as being dads. Welcome back to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! In this episode, Jesse and Nate get their first look at the lineup for Sound and Fury 2026! The dads also swap recent show stories and talk about bands like Poison the Well and Converge, that we'll defend until we die, no matter how good their new material is. They also look back on Furnace Fest and try to anticipate what the future of the festival will look like after being sold to a major festival company (and pray that it hasn't been sold to Kid Rock).
Nate survived Furnace Fest and has some stories to tell! From the blistering Knocked Loose Main Stage set, to the emotional finale of Petey USA's Pond Stage set, to the beautiful mayhem that was every set on the Shed Stage, Nate recounts his magical weekend at Furnace Fest.
In this episode of Dads Who Mosh, Nate recaps the Terror show and how weird Spirit World is. He also goes over how Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by Blink-182 is a perfect album, and then talks about the impact that spiritual abuse can have on people and mentions Holy Hurt by Hillary L. McBride.
In this episode, Nate talks about the Poison the Well tour and how it's bringing together the old and the new generation of hardcore kids. Also, the lineup for Within These Walls at The Nile in Mesa is STACKED!In the last episode, we talked about how guys need to have a lighthouse - this week we talk about the impact it can have on us to miss our lighthouse during the week and struggle on without that point of contact. Finally, Nate complains a little bit about how much the American dream costs nowadays, but that just makes the moms and dads out there who are working hard every day mean even more.
In this week's episode, Nate goes over the STACKED lineup for Furnace Fest. Also, anniversary shows where bands play an album front to back - are they good or kinda lame? This week's perfect album review is Black Mile to the Surface by Manchester Orchestra.Nate also talks about how guys need to have a "lighthouse" every week, something that no matter how tough the week gets, they know that they can look forward to that, and that they will have a place where they can find some relief from the craziness of life.
In this episode, Nate's good friend Jake calls in from Melbourne, Australia. The guys get very real about the feelings that dads can go through and how even though those feelings may be wrong, or come from believing things that aren't true, the feelings themselves can be very real. A real man isn't someone who never feels these negative things, but is someone who overcomes them and keep fighting for their family. One of the best things to do is find someone you can talk to about these things. Also, Nate and Jake decide that the new Architects album is already internationally recognized as the Album of the Year.
In this episode:Is the Warped Tour lineup really worth going to?What is the greatest hardcore album of all time, and why is it probably Long Live by The Chariot? Why is being sober so scary sometimes? All that and more in this week's edition of the Dads Who Mosh Podcast!
In this week's episode, Nate kicks off a new segment where he lists what he thinks are "perfect" albums by going over Brand New's "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me". He also goes further into the heart behind this podcast and Dads Who Mosh. Life out there can be tough for guys who are trying their best, and we all need to be there for each other.
