Description

Fit for a Comeback was created specifically to help individuals rebuild their strength, fitness, and confidence after life’s setbacks.

There are two sides to every comeback: the deeply personal journey of overcoming physical, mental, or emotional challenges—and the practical steps it takes to reclaim your health, whether after an injury, surgery, or major life shift.

Hosted by Nick Venuti, a former chef whose own journey took a dramatic turn after chronic back pain and a trimalleolar ankle fracture, this podcast is rooted in experience. Frustrated by the healthcare system’s “band-aid” solutions, Nick went back to college in his late 20s to study exercise physiology. Since then, he’s built a business that helps everyone from professional athletes to everyday people regain their strength, overcome setbacks, and reclaim their lives.

Each weekly episode combines real-life stories, expert interviews, and actionable advice to guide you through the process of starting over and rising stronger. Whether you’re recovering from injury, surgery, or simply life’s curveballs, you’ll find the tools and inspiration to take charge of your fitness transformation.

Most people don’t fail because they’re unmotivated. Most people fail because they never move out of contemplation. In this episode of Fit for a Comeback, we dig deep into the psychology of behavior change — pre-contemplation, contemplation, action, and maintenance — and what actually keeps you stuck in the thinking/saving phase instead of taking the first messy step. Nick breaks down how saving workouts, binge-watching fitness videos, or researching “the perfect plan” can trick your brain into feeling productive… even though nothing is actually changing. You’ll also hear how behavior change theory applies directly to your fitness journey, why habit stacking beats chasing motivation, and why choosing ONE lane for a defined period of time can be the difference between staying stuck and finally getting real results. This is the episode to listen to if you know exactly what to do… but you still haven’t done it. In this episode you’ll hear:• Why saving workouts and collecting information keeps you stuck• The 4 stages of behavior change (and how to know which one you’re in)• Why contemplation feels productive but creates zero results• How to break out of procrastination loops• Why messy action beats perfect planning every time• How to choose ONE lane and build real momentum• Why most people quit before they ever even start  🔗 Links from the Episode: Connect with Nick on Instagram: @thehealthyyinzerWant help building your mid-year comeback? It's easy to fall into the trap of chasing programs or quick fixes as the calendar resets. However, I emphasize that simply starting a new program will not lead to transformation if personal changes are not embraced. It's vital to reflect on who you want to become rather than just seeking a better version of who you've always been. January should not merely serve as a mental reset; rather, it should act as a powerful motivator for genuine growth. If we carry forward the same habits and mindset without making tangible changes, we'll find ourselves stuck in a cycle, expecting different results from old behaviors.  🔗 Links from the Episode: Connect with Nick on Instagram: @thehealthyyinzerWant help building your mid-year comeback? And sometimes, that’s the most powerful realization.”[10:22] “What you don’t change, you choose.”[11:05] “You’re not drawing a line in the sand because everything’s fine. But the weight of starting is so much less than the weight of regret.” [15:25] “Most people fail not because they don’t care — but because they try to do too much at once.” [25:51] “Eventually, you stop saying ‘I’m starting again’ and just become the person who shows up.”  🔗 Links from the Episode: Connect with Nick on Instagram: @thehealthyyinzerWant help building your mid-year comeback? In this episode of "Fit for a Comeback," we delve deep into the complex feelings surrounding exhaustion and burnout. It’s essential to recognize that you're not lazy; you’re simply overwhelmed. Everyday life—from managing a business and caring for your family to striving for personal fitness—can leave you mentally and physically drained. We often fall into the trap of blaming ourselves for not being productive when, in reality, the constant juggling act of responsibilities can lead to severe emotional fatigue.I discuss how many of us find ourselves prioritizing everyone else's needs over our own as we slip further down our own list of priorities. This episode highlights the significance of understanding our roles as managers and protectors, especially for those who often self-sacrifice to maintain the happiness of others. It’s a realization that can be eye-opening and crucial for anyone feeling burnt out. Instead of labeling ourselves as procrastinators or lazy, we must acknowledge that we’re merely in survival mode, leading to a constant feeling of being overwhelmed. What You’ll Learn in This Episode:The difference between laziness and emotional burnoutHow managing everyone else’s needs leaves you last on your listThe Energy Economy: what’s draining you vs. what’s refueling youMicro habits that protect your energy and momentumHow to schedule your first “You Appointment” and why it mattersThe difference between a reset and a rebuild (hint: you don’t need to start over)Why the 14-Day Booties & Bellies Challenge is the perfect first step Memorable Quotes:[0:12] “You’re not lazy—you’re just f*cking exhausted.”[2:17] “You’ve been in survival mode for so damn long that anything extra feels like a burden.”[7:10] “Think of your energy like a bank. You’re either depositing or withdrawing—and most of us are running on empty.”[10:15] “What gives you energy? A 15-minute walk? A meal prep win? A morning routine with no phone? That’s your recharge.”[16:29] “You don’t need a reset. You need a rebuild—one deposit at a time.”[19:12] “Doing the things you said you’d do builds self-efficacy—and that’s where your power comes from.”[23:59] “Schedule one YOU appointment per week. A walk, a stretch, a nap. You’ve earned it—but only if you’ve done the thing you promised yourself.”[27:17] “The thing you’re avoiding the most is probably the thing you need to do first.”Links from the Episode:Connect with Nick on Instagram: @thehealthyyinzerNeed resistance loop bands?
