Description

Stories That Stick is a podcast where your host Chad Quandt (writer on Avatar Seven Havens, Star Trek Prodigy, Trollhunters) invites guests on to talk about classic stories that resonated with them-- stories that stick with them. It can be a great TV episode, a movie, a video game, even an iconic comic book; if it has a good story we want to geek out about it. A comedy pod that's been going strong for over a decade.

It's time to stop blasting sentinels and dive into the cosmic jazz of podcasting! Your host Chad Quandt is joined by writer Ben Joseph (Invincible Fight Girl, Dropout, Star Trek: Lower Decks) to cover a bold relaunch of the X-Men from 2001 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. New enemy Cassandra Nova invades the mansion, we learn about secondary mutations, and we meet old/new character Emma Frost. How did this comic influence Ben's own storytelling? What's his dream team of mutants? And is Xavier always walking around with a gun?CREDITSEdited by Ben RavidMusic by Ed SkudderAddition music by Kevin MacleodProduced by Chad Quandt, Jakylln Heidi, and Cloud DadCheck out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/goosebudsOur Sponsors:* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/goosebudsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
This podcast is a mutant-- a mermaid/frog/siren/cat that just wants to survive in a strange world. Also when threatened we will explode like we're filled with C4. Host Chad Quandt is joined by returning guest Domi (Paperback Paradise, Goosebuds co-founder!) to cover another episode of the 'cult classic' Baywatch Nights. In "The Creature" David Hasselhoff's Mitch is brought in to investigate a strange woman who escaped from a lab and is maybe a killer frog. Kinda like those Hunter monsters from Resident Evil? But hot? Well, hotter? While Mitch runs into places with an unregistered gun, Angie Harmon's Ryan looks at loose meat cells. Something sinister is hidden in the history of auteur M Night Shyamalan, and only one documentarian Nathaniel Khan can figure it out. Except... this documentary is a fraud scam? In 2004 M Night had fake documentary The Buried Secret of M. M. Night Shyamalan made for the Sci-Fi channel to promote his upcoming film The Village. It blew up spectacularly and few saw it. Except for our guest illustrator and game-maker Kayla Cline (All Elite Wrestling, Heckna, The Rite of Rumble) who watched this live on late night cable.Kayla and host Chad Quandt go scene-by-scene through this glorious disaster of a vanity project. We uncover the big, buried questions: Who are the psychic hackers on M.Night's website? Does M. Night have a magical domain in Philadelphia? Behold the first official episode of Stories That Stick. What sort of magnificent acclaimed story are we covering first? (checks notes) Roland Emmerich's 1996 super blockbuster Independence Day?! Director and showrunner Ed Skudder (The Super Mario Bros Movie, Unikitty!, Dick Figures) joins host Chad Quandt to talk about why this movie caused a ripple effect through all future summer blockbusters including Ed's work, how it turbo-launched the careers of Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum, and why three decades later it still holds up. We also discuss being blockbuster scumbags, the chronology of the Fast franchise, and Apex Presidents.Supplemental Materials:G Gundam Fight - US vs Japanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4lxJo18KYUEd on Instagram (@edskudder) https://www.instagram.com/edskudder/Ed Skudder “Welcome to Earth”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMtOdVro_xsEd Skudder ‘Tectonic’ music videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOHkZlwgl18CREDITSEdited by Ben RavidMusic by Ed SkudderAddition music by Kevin MacleodProduced by Chad Quandt, Jakylln Heidi, and Cloud DadOur Sponsors:* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/goosebudsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Hello?! Anyone in this abandoned church? Want to talk about infected rage zombies? Your host Chad Quandt is joined by editor Ben Ravid (Invincible Fight Girl, Big Nate, this show!) to gush about the acclaimed movie that kicked off the modern zombie craze: Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's 28 Days Later. And we also talk about the just released followup that is almost literally 28 Years Later. How would Chad and Ben survive an apocalypse? How amazingly badass is Selena with a machete? And what the hell is that Power Rangers cliffhanger? Spoilers abound for both films. Something's foul in the air, and we swear it's not us. Your host Chad Quandt is joined by triple-threat actor/writer/wrestler James Willems (Answer For It!, Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed, Funhaus) to discuss one of Junji Ito's largest works; the stinky book Gyo (known as 'Fish: Ghastly Squirming' in Japan). A 'death stench' has taken over Okinawa, followed by an army of walking rotten fish, sharks, and eventually entire improv troops of stink people. This terror tome includes The Sad Tale of the Principal Post and the legendary short story The Enigma of Amigara Fault. This podcast was made for you! Hope your thirsty for horror movie discussion, Goosebuddies. Your host Chad Quandt is joined by animation director Brock Gallagher (aka avant-garde V-Tuber NilbogLive). What sort of creepy story are we covering on the first episode of Goosebuds where Chad is solo host? A 2003 Lego fantasy toy ad. Yes, Goosebuddies. It's true. But we'll get to scary stuff again. Chad Quandt is joined by guest Payton Whaley (Flyover Culture, A Moment of Science) to review the first of many Lego movies about the dark fantasy island Mata Nui who is protected by Toa elemental warriors. Hope you're hungry for podcasts, Goosebuddies. Your hosts Chad Quandt, Paul Ritchey, and Kevin Cole celebrate the end of an era for this show by watching the 90s Are You Afraid of the Dark episode 'The Tale of the Dangerous Soup'. Dr. Vink is running a strange bistro with an expensive soup that is bringing old rich people in by the bakers' dozen! But what's the secret ingredient? What's the deal with this lawn ornament? Why is it being milked? And hey Neve Campbell is in this! They also discuss Uncle Ben in card games and Wolverine's brain regenerating. And this is the last official episode with Paul and Kevin as regular hosts. Ever since we were young boys, we watched Are You Afraid of the Dark/ From Philly to South Bend, we've seen them all/ But somehow this is the first time we're covering the show on Goosebuds!/ That sure was a mean episode! The Goosebuds Boys Chad Quandt and Kevin Cole check out the 90s Nickelodeon episode Are You Afraid of the Dark called 'The Tale of the Pinball Wizard'. This is a very inaccurate portrayal of pinball and arcade games. Sorta what your grandpa thinks a SNES game is. But poor Ross is sucked into this mall adventure where rules are nonsense and quarters are sometimes marbles! Giddyup, Pegacorn! Your hosts Chad Quandt, Paul Ritchey, and Kevin Cole wrangle the Choose Your Own Adventure book Flight of the Unicorn by Deborah Lerme Goodman. In a previous episode we had a great adventure in Deborah's Scottish-ish fantasy world. In this book we're the apprentice to some sort of horse-mancer? It involves sewing wings onto cats to turn them into unicorns? There has to be a better method, right? Either way a dastardly royal wants to turn our beautiful flying horses into an unstoppable army! Hey listeners,I'm excited to share some big changes to the podcast! If you've been listening this past year we've already made format changes-- covering wider ranges of nostalgic media as it shifts into a solo-host show. This two-month break gave me the breathing room I need to figure out what gets me most excited for the show and what will build off we're already doing. Let's get into it!Stories That Stick is our new main format-- inviting funny and insightful guests on to talk about classic media (books, movies, TV, games!) that have stories that 'stuck' with them. I wanna talk about not just how wild these stories are, but how they were formative for the guests and inspire them. And sometimes we'll revisit something we thought was great but actually kinda stunk. But we'll figure out why they still resonated with us! The last six months of the show are basically already this format, now with a clearer vision and names. And Goosebuds will live on as a monthly bonus episode! Hosted by myself and Associate Producer Jakylln Heidi who's read ten times the amount of Young Adult books as me. I'm excited to dive back into the works of R.L. Stine, K.A. Applegate, and other classics. That's available on Patreon, along with our other bonus show Campfire Hang, ad-free versions of the show, and our community Discord. All at patreon.com/storiesthatstick.Thank you for listening to Goosebuds in the past and thank you for continuing on this podcast journey with me.Our Sponsors:* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/goosebudsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Hey Goosebuds listeners, your host Chad here. Those on the Patreon have already gotten a heads up– but Goosebuds is taking a two month pause– from August and September. The reason is I’ve been swamped in work at my day job. By the way, I can finally announce I’ve been working these past two years as lead writer on the upcoming series Avatar: Seven Havens. That’s about the elemental warriors; not the James Cameron blue cat people.Goosebuds will return in the spookiest month of October, with great guests and topics lined up. It’s meant a lot to have many of you accompany me on this new version of the podcast– expanding beyond R.L. Stines works and covering other media that gives us goosebumps. But we can’t do this show without you wonderful supporters on Patreon. Not only do you get access to bonus Camp Goosebuds episodes and our Discord, but you shape the direction of the show. Want us to cover specific media? Want us to rotate in more R.L. Stine? Then join the Patreon. That’s patreon.com/goosebuds.Hope you have a good rest of your summer. We'll see you all in October. Our Sponsors:* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/goosebudsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
They're here! Chad is joined by returning guest Jordan Morris (Bubble, Youth Group, Jordan Jesse Go!) to talk Tobe Hooper and Stephen Spielberg's 1982 classic Poltergeist. Your behavior in regard to the Fear Street 1994 review has lost you a listener who's been here since the beginning. You actually made yourselves sound ignorant of the source material, unforgivable in a literal Goosebumps themed podcast. You seemed set against the film from the beginning of the review because it cast women and POC and had a lesbian storyline, and seemed to know NOTHING about the Fear Street series. A series which might I add has a lot of female ghostwriters. So disappointing the negative attitude towards the source material you literally themed the podcast on. There is so much fun stuff you can dunk on but you guys obviously did not understand the assignment

Lighthearted, funny and super nostalgic. It's fun to revisit these books and remember the stories and your own critique at the time. A good time even if some of the jokes fall flat.

The Koala anime he's talking about is more than likely Blinky Bill. Classic Aussie kids show.
