Description
Originally called Empower Sounds, the podcast has evolved and turned into Reclaiming Bossy! I’ve been called “bossy” many times in my life, often in a negative way. But through conversations with leaders, founders, and creators, I realised that so many of us share this “bossy” spark. I love the idea of reclaiming this word that’s been used to put people down and turn it into something empowering. Reclaiming bossy is a space to celebrate ambition, leadership, creativity, and the bold voices making things happen

What if I told you that you can actually have it all at once, just not in the way we have been taught to think about work life balance? If you constantly feel behind, overwhelmed, or like you are failing at having it all, this episode is for you. In 2026, in our hyper connected world, the traditional idea of work life balance feels like a constant tug of war. We have been sold this image of perfect equilibrium. But life does not work like that.In this episode, I unpack why chasing work life balance might actually be the thing keeping you stuck and burned out. I talk about a different way of thinking about time, energy, and focus that feels far more sustainable. Instead of trying to balance everything at once, we talk about flow. About seasons. About designing your life around your actual energy rather than an unrealistic standard.Inside this episode, I talk about Why work life balance is outdatedHow to do a life audit and see what is actually draining youWhy life works in seasons and how to stop fighting thatHow to do an energy audit using the theatre theory for relationshipsHow to spot a calendar mismatch that is quietly exhausting youTimestamps 00:01:20 - do a life audit 00:02:30 - life works in seasons00:08:30 - do an energy audit and the theatre theory00:11:40 - calendar mismatchI hope this resonates and that you are kinder to yourself after this. What if success didn’t mean burnout? In this episode, we’re talking about building a business that works for you, not against you. If you’ve ever felt resistance to hustle culture, rigid 9–5 structures, or the idea that growth has to come at the expense of your wellbeing, this conversation is for you.Sam shares her journey of creating a home-based domestic cleaning business designed around flexibility, and how that business later evolved into a franchising model that allows other women to build sustainable, values-led businesses in their own way.We talk honestly about courage, limiting beliefs, emotional regulation as a founder, self-validation, and what it really looks like to design work around your life (especially as a mum), rather than forcing your life to fit your work. This episode is especially for anyone who wants to create a business that feels aligned, calm, and supportive without buying into hustle culture.Timestamps00:01:00 – The backstory: how the business began and why flexibility mattered from day one00:06:00 – How did you find the courage to do it your own way?00:12:30 – Limiting beliefs that show up as you grow00:15:00 – How to regulate your emotions and stay sane as a founder00:19:30 – Learning to self-validate instead of seeking external approval00:28:00 – Being a founder mum00:31:00 – Work-life balance (what it actually looks like)00:37:00 – Franchising: a different way to grow00:53:00 – What I wish I knew before getting into franchisingConnect with SamLinkedin : https://www.linkedin.com/in/sam-acton/Domestic Angels: https://domestic-angels.comConnect with Me / The PodcastPodcast Instagram: @reclaimingbossyPodcast TikTok: @reclaimingbossyMy Instagram: @maahika.sMy TikTok: @maahika.sFor collaborations and inquiries:team@empowersoundsmedia.com
This episode is for anyone going through a breakup who feels like they don’t have a big sister to sit them down and tell them it’s going to be okay.I don’t have a sister myself, but I’m incredibly lucky to have the most supportive friends and community of bossy gals around me. A lot of the things I share in this episode are things I learned through those conversations, through experience, and through sitting with the discomfort instead of running from it. I wanted to share this episode for anyone else who is going through heartbreak feeling overwhelmed, ashamed, or alone. In this solo episode of Reclaiming Bossy, I’m sharing my first-ever breakup, Before I talk about how I’m working through the breakup now, I walk through the things that really helped me go into the difficult conversation with more regulation, clarity, and compassion. This isn’t about blame or revenge bodies or glow-ups, or “bouncing back.” But on how to trust that everything will work out.If you’re heartbroken, trying to hold it together, or quietly grieving the future you imagined, this episode is for you. If you add one thing to your 2026 reset, let it be breathwork. In this powerful and grounding episode, I’m joined by Lucy a breathwork and mindset coach who works with executives, leaders, and global companies to help them regulate their nervous systems, shift deeply ingrained patterns, and lead from a more embodied place.Lucy specialises in conscious connected breathwork, but in this conversation we go far beyond just one technique. We explore how different styles of breathing impact the mind, body, and nervous system, how breathwork connects to different centres in the body, and why real, lasting change isn’t just something you think your way into, it’s something you embody. This is a conversation about why breathwork is having such a moment, how breath can shift your mindset faster than thought alone, the link between breath, emotional regulation, and leadership, and why embodiment is missing from so many “mindset” conversations. This episode was something I personally needed as I build my 2026 reset, and breathwork is now a non negotiable practice I’m bringing into my year.If you’ve been doing the mindset work but still feel stuck, dysregulated, or disconnected from your body, this episode will change how you think about change itself.Connect with LucyInstagram: @lucyscarlettcoacheshttps://beacons.ai/lucyscarlettcoachesConnect with me/ the podcast Podcast Instagram: @reclaimingbossyPodcast TikTok: @reclaimingbossyMy Instagram: @maahika.sMy TikTok: @maahika.sFor collaborations and inquiriesteam@empowersoundsmedia.com
Why should women settle for cycling gear designed with men in mind?In this episode of Empower Sounds, I sit down with Luca Kuhn, founder of LUCA, the women’s cycling apparel brand redefining what it means to ride in style, comfort, and confidence. What started as an ick with the “men in Lycra epidemic” became the spark for Luca to create something new a fashion-forward cycling brand built for women, by women. Today, LUCA is more than apparel: it’s a community, a movement, and part of the women’s cycling revolution. What You’ll Learn in This Episode1. The “ick” that inspired LUCA and how frustration can fuel innovation2. Why women need cycling apparel that goes beyond men’s designs in smaller sizes3. The rise of CycleClubs and why they’re the new RunClubs4. How LUCA blends performance, fashion, and confidence in every piece5. Luca’s journey from cyclist to founder and lessons from building a purpose driven brand6. The importance of representation, community, and safe spaces in cycling Why This Matters1. The cycling apparel market was valued at $2.19B in 2024 and is forecasted to hit $3.36B by 2032.2. Women’s cycling clothing alone was valued at $1.23B in 2024 and expected to double by 2033.3. Yet, only 9% of UK women cycle weekly compared to 21% of men showing the need for better products, infrastructure, and representation.LUCA is stepping into that gap with stylish, functional gear and building a movement in the process.🔗 Connect with LUCAWebsite: https://www.rideluca.comInstagram: Ride_lucaInstagram (personal): lucakuhnTiktok: Ride_Luca🎧 Connect with Empower Sounds/MePodcast instagram : @empowersoundsMy Instagram: @maahika.sPodcast TikTok: @empowersoundspodcast My tiktok: @maahika.sLinkedIn: Maahika SinghFor collaborations and inquiries:team@empowersoundsmedia.com#WomensCycling #CyclingApparel #FemaleFounders #CycleClubs #CyclingFashion #Empowerment #StartupStories

What if I told you that learning languages is actually really easy, you just need to find a method that works for you not the one the school system forced on everyone? Most of us grew up believing that learning a language is hard because school taught it in the most unnatural way possible: memorising endless vocab lists, doing grammar drills, and never actually using the language in real life. But that’s not how humans learn languages at all.In this episode, I break down the simple, natural system I used to go from zero Spanish → B1 completely self-taught, and then B1 → C1 fluent when I lived in Spain. No tutors. No expensive courses. No pressure. This is what worked for me with Spanish but I´m sure it applies for other languages too, and I want to try it next with Portuguese If you haven’t yet, listen to my “Learning to Learn” episode, it will make this whole process even easier and is mentioned as part of this language learning method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_SEwAn1SUgTimestamps 00:01:39 - Why do you want to do it?00:02:35 - What type of learner are you? 00:04:30 - Link to Learning to Learn episode00:04:35 - Create your world in this language00:06:30 - Vocabulary is Russian Doll - Circle #100:07:30 - Circle #2 - what do I like talking about?00:12:30 - Spanish Resources00:13:00 - The formula of Consistency00:15:50 - Balance input and output00:17:30 - Taking it a step furtherIf you have any questions about Spanish or language learning, comment below or message me on socials:Podcast Instagram: @reclaimingbossyMy Instagram: @maahika.sPodcast TikTok: @reclaimingbossyMy TikTok: @maahika.sFor collaborations & inquiries:team@empowersoundsmedia.com
In today’s episode of Reclaiming Bossy, I sit down with Danielle Le Seur, a founding member of Nineten58 and one of the most dynamic generalist builders in the London tech ecosystem.Dani’s journey is full of grit, curiosity, and reinvention, from running a chicken business in South Africa as a kid to now helping ambitious partners turn high-leverage ideas into world-class software. At Nineten58, Dani co-builds across everything from AI infrastructure and realtime systems to agentic workflows, payments & fintech, and scalable platforms, but today’s conversation goes way beyond the technical. This episode is really about how generalists build:how you learn fast, how you make mistakes without collapsing, how you balance relationships, how you handle comparison and founder loneliness, and how you reclaim that inner bossy energy while building a life you’re proud of.If you’re a multi-hyphenate creative, an early-stage founder, or simply someone trying to make sense of your ambition Dani’s story will resonate deeply.⏱️ Timestamps00:02:27 – Jargon00:05:20 – Dani’s background00:08:30 – On being a generalist00:12:00 – Learning to learn & making mistakes00:17:00 – Making time for relationships00:20:00 – Comparison00:23:00 – Founder loneliness & the emotional side00:25:00 – Feeling bossy00:30:00 – Being serious vs playful00:43:00 – Relaxation & boredom🔗 Connect with DaniLinkedIn: Danielle Le Seur💌 Stay Connected / Join the CommunityPodcast Instagram: @reclaimingbossyMy Instagram: @maahika.sPodcast TikTok: @reclaimingbossyMy TikTok: @maahika.sFor collaborations & inquiries:team@empowersoundsmedia.com

Its time for a rebrand, this is the start of a new era…For the last two and a half years, this podcast existed under the name Empower Sounds. It was about giving women a platform to share their stories. But somewhere along the way, I outgrew it, and it outgrew me.This episode is the story of that evolution. It’s about what happens when you realise you’ve built something that no longer reflects who you are and how to grow with itI’m talking about rebranding in every sense: your work, your image, your identity. Because the truth is, you’re allowed to reinvent yourself as many times as it takes to feel like you again. It’s also about the word bossy, the one so many of us were called growing up and how reclaiming it became the heartbeat of this next chapter. If you’ve ever felt like you’re in between versions of yourself, or that you’ve outgrown your current brand, this episode is for you.Timestamps/ Chapters00:00:40 – The Story Begins: How It All Started00:01:00 – What Empower Sounds Was and What It Taught Me00:05:00 – The Era of Reclaiming Bossy: Owning the Label00:10:00 – The Art of Rebranding: When and How to Pivot00:12:00 – Journal Prompt: What Have You Outgrown?00:15:00 – The Five Types of Visualisation and Reinvention00:19:20 – Perfectionism: The Silent Brand KillerYou’ll Learn- How to know when it’s time to rebrand or evolve- The difference between quitting and outgrowing- How to reframe “bossy” into leadership energy- Why your brand is meant to evolve as you do- The mindset shift that makes change feel excitinginstead of scaryStay connected / Join the communityPodcast instagram : @reclaimingbossyMy Instagram: @maahika.sPodcast TikTok: @reclaimingbossyMy tiktok: @maahika.sFor collaborations and inquiries:team@empowersoundsmedia.comElizabeth (the musician behind the intro/outro track) :elizabethgounariEnjoyed this episode? What happens when you walk away from a “safe” corporate path to build a creative life from scratch? In this week’s episode, I sit down with Kimberley Verana, a UCL Geography graduate who left recruitment to become a tattoo artist.
