Description

Join me for a weekly dose of sports, news, pop culture or whatever else is rattling around in my brain. From big headlines to locker room drama, viral moments to personal rants - nothing’s off limits. Whether it’s the latest trade, a headline that made me shake my head, or just what’s going on in my life this week, I’m talking about it all. Unfiltered, (hopefully) funny, sometimes deep, always real. New episodes every week, pull up a seat.

This week on This Day, That Year: Henry Ford changes the world with the Model T, Eric Adams drops out of the NYC mayoral race, and college football fans lose their minds storming fields after wild upsets. Plus, Jimmy Kimmel’s back, Disney folds under pressure, and in then we talk running vests, smut books, and the Top 5 Lies We Tell Ourselves — starting with “my diet starts next week” and Cozy 19 aka Brent telling us he has what it takes to be a Quarterback in the NFL.
This week on This Day, That Year, we jump to September 24, 1991, arguably the greatest album drop in history. Nirvana’s Nevermind and Tribe’s The Low End Theory, hit the same day, reshaping music forever. We also dive into the new $100K H-1B visa fee, Jimmy Kimmel’s censorship drama, global recognition of Palestine, plus some personal wedding and dancing stories. And to close it out: the Top 5 People You’d Want to Sit With—featuring Franklin and why Van Gogh lost his ear.
This week, Spin the Wheel is back and it lands on September 15, 2008, the day Lehman Brothers collapsed and the global financial system nearly went with it. We’ll dig into the biggest bankruptcy in U.S. history, how it triggered the Great Recession, and why it’s still a scary reminder of where we stand in the world today. And yes, we briefly talk about what has happened over the last week and how it’s a scary time. Then, it’s time for some lighter fare: the Lions’ latest showdown, a recap of the 2025 Emmys (spoiler: The Studio made history, The Pitt pulled a shocker, and a 15-year-old is now an Emmy winner), and a quick dive into personal life. From Maine weddings, hiking misadventures, and why my foot still hasn’t forgiven me but I hope my girlfriend has. Finally, we close with the Top 5 People You’d Hate to Get Stuck on a Hike With. Spoiler: Ben Franklin somehow takes the crown, and yes, James Corden made the list (again).
This week I break down my failed 100-mile ride and spin the wheel for another round of “This Time, That Year.” The NFL is back, the Lions are not looking great, and Juju makes his return with a brand-new segment. We also talk Kawhi’s salary controversy, while in the “Not a Political Segment,” we dig into some heavy topics: the Smithsonian scrubbing slavery’s painful history, PBS downplaying the past, the Department of Defense’s makeover to “War,” ICE and racial profiling rulings, and RFK’s wild CDC changes. To lighten things up, I take your calls for the Top 5 Non-Car Forms of Transportation (planes, trains, horses—you name it), and close out with a breakdown of Netflix’s Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.
After a month-long break, I’m back—and yes, I’ve been biking a lot. In this episode, we dive into the headlines, from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s over-the-top engagement ring to why engagement rings in general are a scam. I also touch on the latest gerrymandering mess in Texas and California (spoiler: nobody’s actually “treading on you”), break down the Gen Z stare and their un-ironic ‘90s throwbacks, and wrap it all up with my “Top 5 Dead or Alive” list of ‘90s trends—from cereal box literature to Kid Cuisine.

We’re rewinding to February 1990... a month of HUGE shifts, shocking upsets, and unforgettable cultural moments. From Buster Douglas’ jaw-dropping knockout of Mike Tyson, to Nelson Mandela walking free after 27 years in prison, history was being rewritten in real time. We’ll revisit the U.S. airline smoking ban, look up at the Voyager 1 “Pale Blue Dot” that changed how we see our planet, and step into the 32nd Grammy Awards where music, controversy, and Milli Vanilli ruled the stage (the duo, not the person?).

Existential Crisis

What if your whole life was just a dream you’ll wake up from at age 7? Or if you’ve already died—and just don’t know it yet? This episode dives into the deep end of “what if” questions about memory, identity, mortality, and the meaning we create (or miss) along the way. It’s reflective, a little haunting, and just the right amount of existential. Let’s dive in.

Two friends. One abandoned radio station. And a signal that should’ve stayed buried. This week, we’re bringing you a chilling original story that starts with a late-night dare and spirals into something much deeper — and much stranger. Mystery, tension, humor, and a sense that something is just a little… off. Tune in and listen. But maybe don’t listen alone.Song Credits:Song: Music Hard JusticeComposer: Darren CurtisWebsite: https://www.youtube.com/user/DesperateMeasurezLicense: Creative Commons (BY 3.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Music powered by BreakingCopyright: https://breakingcopyright.comSong: It's In The FogComposer: Darren CurtisWebsite: https://www.youtube.com/user/DesperateMeasurezLicense: Creative Commons (BY 3.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Music powered by BreakingCopyright: https://breakingcopyright.comSong: Flowing Into The DarknessComposer: NyokoWebsite: https://soundcloud.com/redowtheredLicense: Free To Use YouTube license youtube-freeMusic powered by BreakingCopyright: https://breakingcopyright.comSong: Demented NightmareComposer: Darren CurtisWebsite: https://www.youtube.com/user/DesperateMeasurezLicense: Creative Commons (BY 3.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Music powered by BreakingCopyright: https://breakingcopyright.comSong: Witch By The SeaComposer: Darren CurtisWebsite: https://www.youtube.com/user/DesperateMeasurezLicense: Creative Commons (BY 3.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Music powered by BreakingCopyright: https://breakingcopyright.com
Would You Rather

Would You Rather

2025-08-0622:38

Would you rather live a life of pure, unrelenting boredom — or listen to this week’s episode? This week, we dive into a chaotic collection of Would You Rather questions submitted by listeners, friends, and fans. From flying at 50 mph while holding your breath to choosing between flawless skin that peels nightly or a voice that is beautiful only when you’re crying — we’re doing it all. We debate showing up three hours early to everything (Kosmack…) vs. never listening to Drake again (Niko… seriously?), plus Brandon drags the Browns into this mess, Nancy makes us question nudity and Walmart, and Danielle’s question sparks a philosophical showdown between food and sleep. This episode is weird. It’s fun. It’s slightly uncomfortable. And it’s exactly what your week needed.

So… it’s a political podcast. Fresh off a Toronto trip, I recap a wild Porter Airlines freak-out before diving into Scottie Scheffler’s existential crisis with success. We unpack the Coldplay’s kiss cam drama, then we have a special guest to talk why neutrality isn’t an option and dive deeper into the Mehdi Hassan Jubilee debate. Plus a few (mostly) unfortunate celebrity deaths.
Return of the Plague

Return of the Plague

This week, we’re asking the big questions—like, do audiobooks count as reading? Plus, a rare and deadly plague case hits Arizona, Chelsea wins the Club World Cup (but Trump steals the spotlight), and Drake declares UK rap supremacy at Wireless Fest. We dive into Christian Horner’s firing, the fantastic Sunderland Netflix series, and the lost art of being bored. Is endless stimulation killing our creativity? Let’s talk about it.
