OG After Dark is back — brought to you by Bloomin Blinds. It wasn't easy for Duke. Then again, this whole tournament has been test after test. The Blue Devils found themselves in a legitimate rock fight with St. John's and staring down a 10-point deficit in the second half with their season on the line. But when it mattered most, Isiah Evans delivered crucial buckets, Cameron Boozer showed why he's one of the most talented freshmen in the country, and Caleb Foster made his return when Duke needed him most. The Blue Devils gutted it out, escaped the Sweet 16, and punched their ticket to the Elite 8.

It has been one of the wildest weeks in Triangle sports history — and the OG Mailbag is here to make sense of all of it. Hubert Davis is out at UNC. Will Wade pulled his disappearing act after one season in Raleigh. But here's the thing — North Carolina and NC State are not fishing in the same coaching waters, and that's actually OK. Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio dig into the latest out of Chapel Hill, break down what would make the most sense for the Wolfpack, and answer the question nobody saw coming — is NC State football coach Dave Doeren the biggest winner in all of this chaos? Plus, did Boo Corrigan ever really have a chance to keep Will Wade in Raleigh? And more!

It's been a week in Triangle basketball...maybe even the wildest! Ovies and Giglio are making sense of all of it. Will Wade is gone — one season in Raleigh and he's headed back to LSU, leaving NC State to pick up the pieces before the calendar even flips. Was there anything Boo Corrigan could have done to keep him? And more importantly, who's next for the Wolfpack?
Then the guys shift focus to Chapel Hill, where the UNC coaching search is heating up fast. Two names are dominating every conversation — Arizona's Tommy Lloyd, who has been one of the best coaches in the country since taking over the Wildcats, and Billy Donovan. Would Donovan really walk away from the league for college basketball? Ovies and Giglio break it all down before closing things out with your OG Sports Phone calls.

Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio sit down with Carolina Hurricanes CEO Brian Fork in a special one-on-one episode recorded live from the new View Bar at Lenovo Center. The setting itself kicks off a wide-ranging conversation about where things stand on the arena renovations and what the long-term vision looks like for one of the best buildings in hockey. Fork also pulls back the curtain on what it actually takes to run an NHL franchise — including how the Hurricanes are navigating one of the most complicated media landscapes in professional sports history.

On a loaded episode of Ovies & Giglio, the guys dive into the resurfacing rumors connecting Will Wade back to LSU and what it could mean for NC State moving forward. Then, they unpack how things unraveled in Chapel Hill, leading to Hubert Davis’ exit at UNC, and take a look at where the Tar Heels turn next in their search for a new head coach.
Plus, Duke is dancing into the Sweet 16—what’s the ceiling for the Blue Devils? And the Carolina Hurricanes are hitting another up-and-down stretch as the regular season winds down…is it just a blip or something bigger to watch?

The waiting game in Chapel Hill is somehow still going. All indications continue to point toward North Carolina moving on from Hubert Davis — and yet the administration appears consumed by the desire to handle the transition "the right way". Ovies & Giglio see the irony in all this. In trying to do this the right way UNC may be doing it in one of the most uncomfortable ways possible for the people whose professional lives are hanging in the balance.
CBS Sports' Chip Patterson joins the studio to provide something genuinely valuable — a window into the Tar Heel group chat ecosystem. They don't post through it the way fan bases at some other high profile programs do. Which means the real temperature of Chapel Hill right now exists in private conversations rather than public timelines. Bomani Jones then joins the conversation for the kind of analysis that only Bo delivers. The discussion centers on UNC's place in the modern era of college basketball — what the program actually is versus what its history says it should be — and the specific danger of nostalgia as a navigational tool for an institution trying to find its footing in a landscape that has changed completely around it.
Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper — a double Tar Heel — comes into the studio to give his take on what's happening in Chapel Hill. And because he is by his own designation North Carolina's number one Caniac, the Carolina Hurricanes conversation was never not going to happen.

Fair warning — this episode might already be outdated by the time you press play.
The situation surrounding Hubert Davis at North Carolina is moving fast. All indications out of Chapel Hill point to the university being ready to move on from Davis following the shocking first round NCAA Tournament loss to VCU. The mechanics of how the separation happens appear to be the remaining variable. But the direction the university is heading seems clear enough that Ovies & Giglio are treating this episode as the honest accounting of how Hubert Davis ended up here — and how dramatically different everything looked just three weeks ago. And when UNC makes Davis' status official — who do the Tar Heels go after?
Then the basketball still being played — because the NCAA Tournament doesn't pause for Chapel Hill's administrative decisions.
Duke is the only ACC team remaining in the Sweet 16. The Blue Devils got their Siena scare in the first round and then found something critical in a second half sequence against TCU that allowed them to look like themselves again heading into the Sweet 16. Cameron Boozer still shows up in the box score but the game isn't coming as easily as it did earlier in the season — the physical toll of a deep tournament run is showing and the question worth asking is whether something as straightforward as getting Patrick Ngongba back into the lineup is the piece that unlocks the version of Duke that nobody in the bracket wants to face.
N&O's Shelby Swanson joins the show to discuss the Hubert Davis situation with the reporting and perspective that the moment demands. A Lightning Round follows. OG Sports Phone closes it out.

North Carolina basketball has a standard. It was set by Dean Smith and sustained by Roy Williams. In five years under Hubert Davis the Tar Heels have not met it. Making it more complicated — Jon Scheyer has built something real at Duke under the similar circumstances or replacing a legend.
The Tobacco Road rivalry has always pushed both programs toward consistent excellence. But the problems at UNC go deeper than Hubert Davis. This looks less like a coaching issue and more like an identity crisis for the university itself. And until that gets addressed no coaching decision fixes what's actually broken. Everyone agrees on one thing — UNC basketball has to evolve or get left behind.

Two Triangle teams. Two completely different first round NCAA Tournament stories.
The Tar Heels blew a 19 point second half lead to VCU. And everything that has haunted this UNC team all season long showed up at the worst possible moment on the biggest possible stage. Duke nearly made history for all the wrong reasons. Siena pushed the Blue Devils to the absolute brink of becoming only the third number one seed to ever lose to a sixteen. Jon Scheyer called it the toughest game he'd ever been in. Duke survived — but did the scare recalibrate them or damage them?

Will Wade didn't sugarcoat it. His first roster in Raleigh was — in his own words — the worst team Wolfpack fans will see going forward. It's a remarkable thing for a head coach to say publicly about his own program. The question Ovies & Giglio are asking is whether Wade's year one education in the ACC was enough to produce the changes that actually matter — players who genuinely fit the system he wants to run rather than players a spreadsheet recommended because the numbers looked right in a vacuum.
Then it's UNC's turn — and a voice worth hearing joins the conversation. Marcus Ginyard, member of the 2009 National Championship team, comes on to discuss the current state of Tar Heels basketball and what Caleb Wilson's presence meant for this program beyond the box score. Ginyard brings the championship perspective and the honest assessment of where UNC stands heading into their NCAA Tournament opener. Can the Tar Heels get to the Sweet 16? Ovies & Giglio think it's there for them — but only if they play a certain way.
Mike Maniscalco joins the show to cover the Carolina Hurricanes entering one of the most demanding stretches of hockey on their schedule. The brutal run started last night in Columbus — and the priority heading into it is singular and non-negotiable. Get to the postseason healthy. Everything else is secondary.

The bracket is out. Ovies & Giglio are back at OG Media HQ. And the Triangle's NCAA Tournament picture couldn't be more complicated or more compelling.
Start with Duke — because Giglio needs a moment. The Blue Devils come into March Madness as back-to-back ACC Tournament Champions with the most proven defensive identity in college basketball. The selection committee looked at all of that and handed them the toughest bracket. Ovies pushes back on the UNC pessimism that has been building since the Clemson loss in Charlotte. The Tar Heels have a pattern this season that is worth trusting — they hit a low point, they absorb it, and they come back with some punch. Then NC State. Will Wade didn't exactly hide the ball on this one — the Wolfpack head coach essentially acknowledged the likelihood of a Dayton First Four appearance before the selection committee made it official. The road from 9-2 in ACC play to a play-in game in Dayton is one of the steepest late season descents the bracket has seen in years and it deserves a full explanation.
Patrick Stevens — Senior OG Media Bracketologist — gets into the selection committee's evaluation process, the bubble logic that shaped the final field, the mechanical bracket construction that determined NC State's placement and more. Meanwhile, the Carolina Hurricanes get their catch-up segment and the OG Sports Phone closes the show the right way — Triangle fans processing a whole bunch of things.

Duke are your back-to-back ACC Tournament Champions — and Virginia made them earn every single second of it. The Cavaliers held Cameron Boozer to his lowest scoring game of the season. The game plan was right. The execution was there. And Duke found a way to win anyway with key rebounds, timely stops, clutch contributions from role players, and free throws that held up when it mattered most.
Ovies & Giglio are live from Charlotte breaking down the championship and what back-to-back ACC titles mean for Duke heading into March Madness. Plus! OG After Dark is live from the ACC Tournament in Charlotte — presented by Bloomin Blinds — and the championship game is set.
Duke and Virginia got there in the least dramatic way possible, with neither the Blue Devils nor the Cavaliers getting truly tested in ways that revealed anything new. But hey, the ACC Tournament Championship game will feature the two best teams from the 2026 regular season. Full stop.
Meanwhile, the Hubert Davis critics came out of the woodwork after North Carolina's early ACC Tournament exit to Clemson. Ovies & Giglio push back where the pushback is warranted and acknowledge what's fair where fairness is required. NC State leftovers round out the conversation with your OG Sports Phone calls.

North Carolina had found something without Caleb Wilson. All of it walked out the building in Charlotte against Clemson. The offense was stagnant through most of the game. Turnovers didn't help. Free throw shooting continues to be an issue. And while the Heels made it a game against the Tigers late and had a chance to rally for a win, folks are wondering if this is this a sign of things to come in the NCAA Tournament.

Time for another Butcher's Market OG Live...from Charlotte!
NC State's ACC Tournament run is over. Virginia beat the Wolfpack for the third time this season — and while it was closer than the regular season meetings, it fell right in line with this team's ceiling against better competition. The NCAA Tournament is next but the real conversation has already shifted to Will Wade's offseason pivot heading into year two in Raleigh. The Athletic's Brendan Marks joins to discuss that — plus which ACC programs like Syracuse, Boston College, Georgia Tech and potentially Pitt need to get serious about their next head coaching hire right now.
LockedOn Panthers host Julian Council comes through to make the case that Carolina quietly won NFL free agency — and that this franchise believes it can do more than sneak into the playoffs on a wild card.
And of course, your OG Sports Phone closes it out live from the ACC Tournament.
