Four Stanley Cups. One incredible story.
Detroit Red Wings legend Darren McCarty joins Mike Vaccaro on In The Front Row to reflect on an unforgettable NHL career, the challenges he faced away from the ice, and the journey that helped him discover a new purpose in life.
Growing up in Leamington, Ontario, McCarty dreamed of playing professional hockey. After being selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1992 NHL Draft, he became an integral part of one of the most successful eras in franchise history.
McCarty shares memories of playing for Hall of Fame coach Scotty Bowman, learning from captain Steve Yzerman, and helping Detroit capture its first Stanley Cup in 42 years in 1997. He also revisits the legendary rivalry with the Colorado Avalanche and the championship teams that made the Red Wings one of hockey's most celebrated franchises.
Beyond the championships, McCarty opens up about his struggles with addiction, his road to recovery, and his remarkable return to professional hockey. That comeback eventually led him back to Detroit, where he captured his fourth Stanley Cup in 2008.
Now retired from the NHL, McCarty continues to embrace new opportunities through podcasting, professional wrestling, and community involvement. He discusses his passion for helping others, particularly young people in Detroit, and why the impact he makes off the ice matters more to him than the championships he won.
From the highest moments of professional sports to the challenges of rebuilding his life, Darren McCarty shares a story of perseverance, personal growth, and finding purpose beyond the game.
In The Front Row with Mike Vaccaro features conversations with athletes, coaches, broadcasters, and sports personalities about their journeys, defining moments, and the stories that shaped their lives.

With the advent of social media, pro wrestlers no longer have to wait for WWE, AEW, or TNA to introduce them to an audience. They can get themselves over on their own platforms—building characters, cultivating fans, and creating demand without the production and promotional muscle of a major wrestling company.
Richard Holliday, Big Trouble Ben Bishop, Jack Vaughn, and Tommy Invincible are doing exactly that. But if their ambition is to reach the big leagues, does the very thing that gets them over online help them get there—or stand in their way?
Timmy Baltimore examines the opportunities and contradictions facing wrestling’s social media superstars. They’ve built an audience on their own terms. Can that success translate to somebody else’s television show?
Timmy Baltimore is high-brow evaluation of low-brow entertainment.
