As the APN takes a break this holiday season we’re using this opportunity to bring you great episodes from other podcasts on the network. Here’s one from the CRM Archaeology PodcastCRM Archaeology Podcast: Mitigating Illness and Preventative Health - Ep 313Mitigating illness as an archaeologist is tricky no matter where you are at in your career. This job takes a toll on you physically and leaves little room for R&R let alone the penalties that come with resting when you are an on call employee. Andrew and the sickly Heather, with her best “Kathleen Turner” voice, consider how to mitigate illness before and during the field and care for yourself regardless of budget. Stay safe and well out there fellow archs!CRM Archaeology Podcast on the APN ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. After uploading a quick video on Instagram about the top two stupidest pseudoarchaeology stories of all time, the one and only Flint Dibble said that I, Dr. Professor Andrew Kinkella PhD, had gotten something wrong. He said the Silurian hypothesis didn’t contain any lizard people! What?!? I quickly re-checked my research, and found out he was right. But I was right too! Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo is just beginning its second season. One of the Expert Presenters on the show is me, Super Important Doctor Professor Andrew Kinkella! In taking jobs like this, have I sold out? Am I an embarrassment to all of archaeology? Listen in so you can judge and make fun of me as usual.TranscriptsMessage for Simplecast: For rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/175ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Back in the 90s, I would often take late night drives between the San Francisco Bay Area (where my parents lived) and Santa Barbara (where I went to college). During the dark, lonely hours cruising down highway 101, I’d listen to a funky, weird, slightly creepy yet interesting radio show. I never quite understood what it was. That’s because it was Art Bell’s Coast to Coast AM radio show.TranscriptsMessage for Simplecast: For rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/174ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Uh-oh! The Quest for Ancient Civilizations conference is coming to Scottsdale in December and I haven’t gotten tickets yet! Where will I be without my yearly supply of mumbo jumbo? Thankfully, if you missed this summer’s Cosmic Summit, it’s the same people presenting their same lame pseudoarchaeology ideas in the same boring context. If you’re looking for a black hole in which to dump money and time, you have found it!TranscriptsFor rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/173ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. I noticed some heated online arguments in the anthropology world about human sexuality, where several noted anthropologists recommended the book “Sex is a Spectrum” by Agustin Fuentes, so I read it. It’s time to talk about the hardest question in all of archaeology! This is something I get asked about a lot, plus there is a pseudoarchaeological component to this (130 thousand year old sites in the New World?). Prepare yourself for the deeply unsatisfying yet super interesting tale of the first people to enter the New World.TranscriptsFor rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/171ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Graham Hancock posted a 75 minute YouTube video about how people like me are frauds, but people like him are just poor, attacked heroes fighting for justice. I thought a good move here would be to not bother fighting against his silly pseudoarchaeology stories too much this time (that’s what all my other podcast episodes are for!), but instead have a little fun by analyzing his video through the lens of narcissism (while still making fun of his idiotic stories at the same time - I can do both at the same time, I swear!).TranscriptsFor rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/170ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. I recently got the unfortunate news that Dr. Brian Fagan, one of my mentors in archaeology (and especially archaeology for the public), had passed away. I thought I was done with the Shroud of Turin, but no! It has resurrected itself as if by magic to haunt me again, this time in the form of an interview with a Jesuit priest named Father Robert Spitzer (no conflict of interest there!) on the podcast Dad Saves America. I can’t believe you missed the pride and joy of late June in Greensboro North Carolina, otherwise known as Cosmic Summit 2025! The tickets started at a mere 500 bucks, allowing you to enjoy multiple boring presentations over several days covering every aspect of Pseudoarchaeological nonsense that you could ever want! Luckily I’m here to take you through it all in excruciating detail. Every so often, I need to bring this situation up to date! It’s current events time here at the Pseudoarchaeology Podcast, so I thought I’d discuss three things: The “structures” underneath the pyramids (there aren’t any), how the location of the Lost Ark was found in 1988 (it wasn’t), and how I was a special guest on Flint Dibble’s livestream with Milo Rossi (it was super fun)!TranscriptsFor rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/164ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Man, did Fountain of Youth suck or what? I am not a fan of complaining about movies just to complain, but good god I may have to make an exception here. So I went to the annual Society for American Archaeology meetings in Denver weekend before last. I presented on my archaeology work on the Maya cenotes in Belize, but I also spent lots of time listening to (and assisting with) presentations on how to present archaeology to the public. What I learned: some people absolutely understand how to present archaeology to the public, and some people have no clue. Tune in to figure out who’s who! Special Bonus: Count how many times I accidentally refer to Milo Rossi as Stefan Milo!TranscriptsFor rough transcripts of this episode head over to https://www.archaeologypodcastnetwork.com/pseudo/162ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetMerch StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Finally, Atlantis in all its glory!!! In this episode, I track the history of the oxymoron otherwise known as “Atlantean thought.” What is the history of Atlantis? Why do we still talk about it today? Where is it? Did Plato just make it up? (Hint - is Star Wars real, or did George Lucas just make it up? So there I was, minding my own business when the Ronald Reagan Library gave me a call and asked me to check out their exhibit on the Dead Sea Scrolls! Did they want me because I am a world-renowned archaeologist, or because I’m an archaeologist who lives only 10 minutes away? Some days in life you may find yourself at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach. Those are defined as “good days.” While experiencing one of those good days, I thought “why not try and do a “live” podcast using just my phone and the shaky hotel wifi, centered on the history and ghost stories associated with the hotel?” It sounded like a great idea to me - listen in to see if it actually worked!ContactKinkella Teaches Archaeology (Youtube)Blog: Kinkella Teaches Archaeology ArchPodNetAPN Website: https://www.archpodnet.comAPN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnetAPN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnetAPN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnetTee Public StoreAffiliatesMotion Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Omg thank you kinkella! Everyone needs to hear this!
Idk if everyone thinks kinkella is hilarious but I sure do. Laughing my add off at work!
I’ve been so sad because no new episodes were coming out and I thought Kinkella had quit! So happy to find that it just moved.. now I have 4 episodes to binge. Love this podcast.
This is great. Love the new guy!
In addition, a beringian and a solutrean migration are not mutually exclusive. The predominance of clovis sites in the eastern IS suggests strongly that that was their point of arrival. Haplotype X also supports a European origin for some extant native americans. There is also the fact that there was a dramatic climate change event 13000 years ago(possibly a meteor) which appears to have wiped out large anounts of megafauna AND the clovis culture. Check out that YDB layer
Is it not the case that the western European coastline of 20000 years ago is now entirely submerged? why would you expect to find boats? also there are examples of fluted solutrean points
