Kevin Van Valkenburg joins Matthew and Meg to take us deep into the career of Hall of Famer Lorena Ochoa. From her humble beginnings in Guadalajara to her major breakthrough at St. Andrews, Ochoa left her mark on the sport and continues to impact thousands in Mexico. Reminiscing about one of the most loved players in Tour history gave us all a better appreciation for her accomplishments. Before Kevin joins the episode, Matthew and Meg recap Charley's victory in Riyadh and preview this week's action in Thailand.
Our first episode with recurring guest Auston Kim is here! We talk with her about how she spent her offseason, dealing with new expectations, and what events she's looking forward to as the new season gets underway. Meg and Matthew also preview the LET's season opener, the PIF Saudi Ladies International, where Auston will be teeing it up. Want more about Auston? Check out our episode with her last summer after her runner up finish at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and follow her on Instagram @austonkim.
Nelly Korda has won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Somehow, someway, that's not the story of the LPGA's season opener. Meg and Matthew discuss Nelly's winless streak ending, and spend plenty of time talking about what makes an "optimal competitive environment", Lake Nona and its "prestige shape", and all other sorts of nonsense that made up a weekend to forget. On the back half of the episode, they answer a variety of listener questions about the new season, their favorite swings, and much more.
The start of the LPGA season is upon us! What better way to get ready to kick things off than tiering all of the courses the tour will visit this year. Matthew takes the reins on slotting these courses into a variety of categories taking inspiration from colleague Joseph LaMagna's annual PGA Tour course tiers. He and Meg also recap the news from last week including a big hire for Craig Kessler as well as preview the first tournament of the year, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
No big deal here, just Hall of Famer Juli Inkster joining Meg and Matthew on today's episode. Juli played and participated in the LPGA's 75th Anniversary Pro-Am last week at Pebble Beach and shares stories from reuniting with fellow legends of the game. They chat about Solheim Cup memories and what it takes to win overseas, what she remembers about winning the U.S. Women's Open at 42, and how she almost made the cut last year in Portland. Juli can tell a tale like none other, and it was a blast getting to reminisce with her.
If there's one thing The Mixed Bag does right, it's predictions! Meg and Matthew welcome Claire Rogers to the pod and get all of their prognostications for the upcoming LPGA season on the record. Claire wears many hats in the golf media world as the Director of Social Media at GOLF and Digital Host at TGL. She brings a humorous angle and fresh view to her coverage of the game, and we were very excited to get her thoughts on the 2026 season.

Before we fully move on from the 2025 season, Meg and Matthew wanted to bring back their interviews with major winners Maja Stark, Minjee Lee, and Grace Kim. The Mixed Bag was thrilled to have each of these champions on the show shortly after their victories, and these conversations were a highlight of the podcast's first year. Enjoy the trip down memory lane!

The golf may be sleepy, but The Mixed Bag is bringing the entertainment with longtime LPGA caddie Olly Brett. Meg, Matthew, and Olly cover all the bases chatting about how he teamed up with Rose Zhang, stories from Solheim Cups, and his thoughts on how the LPGA sets up courses. Enjoy the banter and laughs with one of the Tour's best characters.
With the Grant Thornton Invitational in the bag, the LPGA 2025 season is officially wrapped. Meg, Matthew, and special guest Kevin Van Valkenburg give out awards, reminisce on their favorite moments from the year, and take a peek at what they're looking forward to next season. Relive the season of the streak and all the highs and lows that happened in between.
With the offseason here, Meg and Matthew take this episode in a different direction with golf writer and historian, Stephen Proctor. His new book, Matchless: Joyce Wethered, Glenna Collett and the Rise of Women's Golf, chronicles the trailblazing careers of Wethered and Collett and how they inspired generations and paved the way for women's golf as we know it today. Proctor's a wealth of knowledge and has breathed new life into a largely forgotten chapter of the sport. Prior to the interview with Stephen, an update on Q-Series finals and a preview of the Grant Thornton Invitational are discussed. You can purchase Matchless: Joyce Wethered, Glenna Collett and the Rise of Women's Golf online at Auld Gray Toun Books, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
Sue Witters, VP of Rules and Competition, has been working at the LPGA since 1997. She's seen it all over those 28 years, and Meg and Matthew were thrilled to get her insight on a number of topics. Sue shares what goes into setting a course up for the best golfers in the world, how the new pace of play policy was received by the players, and how she'd design a championship golf course. Before the conversation with Sue, Meg and Matthew recap the LET and JLPGA finales and preview the final stage of Q Series.
Jeeno Thitkul won the CME Group Tour Championship, cashed her second $4 million dollar check in as many years, and swept the year end awards. Meg and Matthew talk about Jeeno's year, the overall themes of the 2025 season and offer a few preliminary thoughts about what to expect next season. It was also a very busy week in the news department. The LPGA's new broadcast deal and the 2026 schedule are discussed before wrapping up the episode with a quick preview of this week's LET season finale in Spain.
It was a whirlwind of a week at The Annika capped off by a statement win from Linn Grant. Golf Channel's Grant Boone called all the action from Pelican and joins Meg and Matthew to chat about Linn's victory and her superstar potential. They also discuss the impact of Caitlin Clark's pro-am appearance and Kai Trump's LPGA debut. The episode wraps up with a recap of the flurry of news from the past week and a preview of the final event of the season, the CME Group Tour Championship.
Nasa Hataoka wins the TOTO Japan Classic via glorified chip off. Meg and Matthew dive into the messy finish to the fall Asian Swing before discussing a busy week of news. They finish up with a preview of TADBGAP (The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican).
Last fall Kim Kaufman was diagnosed with breast cancer. At 33-years-old, the news shocked the LPGA veteran, and she was quickly thrown into the world of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. On today's episode, Kaufman talks about her journey over the last 12 months as she gears up to play in the final stage of Q-Series in December. It's a powerful conversation on resilience and the power of positive thinking. In addition to our chat with Kaufman, we also recap the Miyu Yamashita's Maybank Championship win, discuss Kai Trump's sponsor's invite, and preview the Toto Japan Classic.
Team Australia topped Team USA to win their first International Crown. Meg and Matthew receive a South Korean dispatch from Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols who spent the week onsite. They recap the action and dig into the state of the Crown and what needs to happen to continue to elevate the event. After that, Yani Tseng's triumph in Taiwan is discussed before things get wrapped up with a preview of this week's Maybank Championship.
Matthew and Meg start off the episode talking about Sei Young Kim, the 27th different winner this year, and her win in front of friends and family at the BMW Ladies Championship. A quick Q-Series update follows, and then it's on to the main event. The International Crown has made its way to the outskirts of Seoul. Matthew walks through the event's choppy history and shares some stories from his time caddying in the 2018 version which was also in South Korea. A rundown of teams and a few predictions wraps things up.
Meg and Matthew say so long to the streak and discuss Jeeno Thitikul's playoff win in China. Next, they chat about the stinky situation with Nelly Korda's injury somehow getting even stinkier. Then The Athletic's Gabby Herzig joins to share the ups, downs, and everything in between from her first USGA Championship at Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
Meg and Matthew recap an unexpectedly busy week of golf. There's no stopping the streak with LPGA non-member Youmin Hwang winning the Lotte Championship in Hawaii. The 2025 Epson Tour season wrapped up, the Women's Mid Am is in full swing, and an elite amateur tournament ended in a scorecard playoff. Plus, a mysterious Nelly Korda injury has her out of this month's International Crown.
