The Beyond Day 1 podcast series will provide guidance on personal and career advice for graduating fellows and early career electrophysiologists on how to transition into practice, as well as how to navigate those first few years within their clinics - from Day 1 and beyond. This podcast will be hosted by well-recognized electrophysiologists within the EP community and topics will be a continuation from Medtronic CRM’s Day 1 Fellows program.

In the ninth episode of the Beyond Day 1 podcast series - Part 1 and Part 2, Dr. James Peacock sits down with Dr. Matthew Goldstein, electrophysiologist and Director of the EP Lab at Main Line Health in Philadelphia, and a former Day 1 course director. Dr. Goldstein shares how he transitioned from focusing solely on clinical practice to taking on leadership positions while maintaining his busy EP practice through efficient scheduling and delegation to nurse practitioners. Martha shares her involvement with the Heart Rhythm Society, where she chairs the Allied Professional Council and has been involved in developing leadership infrastructure for allied professionals. Both Martha and Dr. Peacock discuss their work in healthcare technology integration, patient care improvements, and the importance of maintaining work-life balance while encouraging mentorship and professional development among healthcare staff.    Doctorate's Impact on Nursing Leadership Martha Ferrara, DNP discussed her career progression and the impact of obtaining a doctorate degree. She was motivated by her mother's example to pursue education and improve patient care. The doctorate degree allowed her to have a greater influence in her role as a nurse practitioner and provided her with a seat at the leadership table at White Plains Hospital. She emphasized that while the degree was challenging, it has been worthwhile for her career advancement and patient care.

Discussions center on the importance of educating and mentoring nurse practitioners to enhance their role as partners in electrophysiology practices, with emphasis on building strong interdisciplinary relationships and addressing program growth challenges. She began with an associate's degree and progressed to a doctorate in nursing science, focusing on patient advocacy and education. Ferrara emphasized her ambition to become a nurse practitioner to provide better patient care and collaborate more effectively with physicians.  
In the third episode of the Beyond Day 1 podcast series, Dr. Josh Silverstein from Allegheny Health Network discusses the importance of lab efficiency and quality improvement inside of the lab. He dives into the daily challenges faced in the EP lab, how to work through those challenges, developing an efficient and sustainable work environment, and how to create healthy partnerships between hospital administration and laboratory staff.
