What if following Jesus isn’t about becoming a better version of yourself… but letting the old version of you die?Your pride. Your need for control. Your desire for approval. Your plans. Your sin. The parts of yourself you’re still trying to hold onto.Jesus never called us to simply add Him into the life we already wanted. He said to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him.And that kind of surrender can be uncomfortable.Because it’s easy to say, “God, Your will be done” until His will looks different from ours. It’s easy to talk about surrender until God asks us to actually let go of something we love.In this video, we talk about what it truly means to die to yourself, why Jesus calls us to take up our cross, how Saul’s encounter with Jesus completely changed the direction of his life, and what it looks like to genuinely say:“My life belongs to Jesus.”Maybe the question isn’t, “What does God need to add to my life?”Maybe it’s:“What in me needs to die so I can follow Him more completely?”📖 Scriptures discussed:Luke 9:23–24Acts 9Philippians 3John 10:10Luke 22:42Galatians 2:20If this message convicted or encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to hear it and subscribe for more biblical content from theWordcast.Deny yourself. Why do we keep going back to the very things we prayed for God to free us from?Sometimes it’s a relationship. Sometimes it’s a sin, a habit, a lifestyle, a friend group, or simply an old version of ourselves. We know it wasn’t good for us. We remember asking God to help us get out. But when following Him gets uncomfortable, the past can suddenly start looking a lot better than we remember it.The Israelites did the same thing.God miraculously freed them from slavery in Egypt, yet when the wilderness became difficult, they started remembering Egypt like it was home. They remembered the food but forgot the chains. And if we’re not careful, we can do the same thing. We remember the temporary pleasure and forget the pain. We remember what was comfortable and forget why we begged God to change us in the first place. In this video, we talk about what Israel’s journey out of Egypt can teach us about leaving our old lives behind, resisting the temptation to go backward, and trusting God when freedom feels unfamiliar.Maybe God has already brought you out of something.Don’t let a difficult season convince you that you were better off in Egypt. You left for a reason. Keep walking.📖 Scriptures discussed:Numbers 11Numbers 14Galatians 5:1If this video encouraged you, consider subscribing and sharing it with someone who might need to hear this today.— theWordcast#Christian #Faith #Jesus #God #ChristianYouTube #Bible #FollowingJesus #ChristianMotivation
It’s easy to ask God to bless our plans. It’s harder to let Him change them.Israel brought the Ark of the Covenant into battle expecting victory—and still lost. What happened? And could we be making a similar mistake in our own relationship with God?In this episode, Luke and Mitch unpack 1 Samuel 4–7: the capture of the Ark, the fall of Dagon, and Israel’s return to God. These chapters challenge us to look honestly at our faith, the things we put before God, and whether we’re willing to follow Him when obedience costs us something. We talk about treating God like a good luck charm, recognizing idols in everyday life, and what genuine repentance looks like beyond simply saying we’re sorry. There’s encouragement here, too: failure doesn’t have to be the end of your story. These chapters show a people turning back to God—and finding help in Him.What’s something God has been asking you to surrender? You believe God has called you to something more. But right now, your life looks nothing like what you’ve been praying for. How do you keep going when you can’t see any progress? Before David faced Goliath, he had already been anointed. And yet, he still had sheep to take care of.In this video, we’re talking about trusting God when your circumstances haven’t caught up with what you believe He’s calling you toward. We’ll look at David’s story, the value of preparation, and how to take your next step even when you’re afraid. If you’ve been questioning your purpose or feeling discouraged by how slowly things are moving, I hope this encourages you to keep seeking God and give today your best. What’s one step of faith you’ve been putting off? Let’s talk in the comments.📖 Scripture: 1 Samuel 16–17Subscribe to theWordcast for honest conversations about faith, Bible studies, and encouragement to grow closer to Jesus.#GodsPurpose #TrustGod #theWordcast
I enjoyed drinking. I was usually the guy making plans, getting everyone together, and finding somewhere to go out. So when I felt God calling me to stop, giving it up wasn’t easy.I started drinking at 18 after my hockey career ended. In this video, I share why I quit, what made that decision difficult, and what God has been teaching me about obedience and discipline - especially when it means letting go of something I still enjoy. This is my personal conviction, not me telling every Christian they have to make the same decision. I’m sharing what that process has honestly looked like for me.And something I’m learning? I never needed alcohol to be the fun guy. I’m still Luke.Have you ever felt God asking you to give something up that you didn’t want to let go of? I’d love to hear your story in the comments.Subscribe to theWordcast for honest conversations about faith, Bible studies, and encouragement to grow closer to Jesus.#ChristianTestimony #Faith #theWordcast
