Welcome to EKA135! Today we are joined by Jake and Alex from subtitles., an emo band based in Arizona but also based in France? That's right, we got the transcontinental Twenty One Pilots here. Jake is in Arizona and Alex is in his native France, but somehow they are making magic happen from across the planet. Last month they released their debut album "subtitles. on" on March 19th and we were able to talk to them about making the album with Kris Crummet and JoJo Centineo as well as a ton of other topics. We talked about their origins, making things work long distance, the differences between France and the US and the Ernie Ball battle of the bands to play the Vans Warped Tour.----------------------------------------------------------------With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA134.5, a bite sized minisode from emo kids anonymous! Today we are joined by Catherine, our producer/showrunner/wrangler of Robb, in a special look at the person behind the curtain at EKA HQ. Catherine joined our team a few months ago, after already spending months working with me on tons of NAPNET LLC, EKA LLC, and Robb Laffoon LLC ventures. We figured our team needed to grow to keep up with us and what better person than someone we already both knew and trusted. In this clip we get CZB's thoughts on the EKA process, her experience so far, and just who tf she is exactly. If you're in a band, there's a good chance you've already spoken with her but now we can put a face to the name or whatever the expression is!With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA134! Today we are joined by Ryan Dominguez of Tokyo Rose! These New Jersey scene favorites of the 2000s went away in 2008 and recently came back with two new singles so we had to find out what the hell happened in the last 18 years. We discuss the glory days of the 2000s New Jersey scene. Bands like Midtown (hi Gabe!), Lifetime, Thursday, Saves The Day, we touch on all of them. We talk touring with the likes of Taking Back Sunday and Bayside, the end of the band, and what led to the rebirth (shoutout Emo Night Karaoke!). Along with this, we also touch on the differences between then and now when it comes to being in a band. Content creation, social media, etc. We’ve come a long way since Myspace! What’s the Mt Rushmore of New Jersey? What state has the best pizza? What is the true ti-state area? Who is the BEST band outta the area? All that and more as Mr. Tokyo Rose tells all in this salacious interview! (LOL)Tokyo Rose just dropped a new single, Ugly Comes Out, go stream it on your preferred streaming platform. Thanks for joining us Ryan! With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to another snack sized minisode of Emo Kids Anonymous! Today we are joined once again by Tori Town of Tori Town! 30 episodes ago Tori joined us to talk about her house show venue getting shut down by the Holyoke PD after successfully putting on 60+ shows. This led to Tori Town the venue closing but Tori Town the person kicked into full gear. By moving her diy festival Townfest from her house to a new location, she was able to keep it alive last month and possibly going forward. We talk about what's next. Possibly more shows? tapes? compilations? the skies are limitless or whatever they say. Along with all of this, Tori and I talk about some of our favorite bands in the scene like tenmonthsummer and Dear Cincinnati.________________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA133! Today we're joined by Ohio emo band Palette Knife! This week the Columbus band are dropping their third album Keyframe (April 10th on Take This To Heart Records, shoutout Joe!), and Alec, Aaron and Chris joined me to yap about the making of the record. Along with this, we also discussed their recent performance at XLNC Fest in Michigan, as well as some of our favorite bands and friends: T!IHI, Cheem, FinalBossFight, Kerosene (and Hawthorne) Heights, No Problemo!, plus the band they're touring with this spring, Stars Hollow! Billy Mannino is discussed, as always, plus they pick the next emo band up in the scene.Be sure to go stream Keyframe when it drops on Friday. I've had this album for a few weeks and it is absolutely incredible. Pound for pound, Take This To Heart might be the best label in the game right now. There's a reason we have on so many of their bands, they're all great. This isn't a paid spot, this is just facts. Great job Joe! And to the Palette Lifers, Wifers and Knifers, this record is your best work yet.______________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA132! Today we're joined by Jeremy Scott, a DIY promoter out of Baltimore who has a festival coming up on May 30th at Zen West in Baltimore. We talk all about Jermfest, how it came to be, the ins and outs of booking it and so much. more. At the time of recording, he had Jake Langley of Handguns booked and this was the week before I spoke with Jake so there was some fun Jake lore shared on camera (and even more off). We talk about his entrypoint into the scene, his favorite bands, and so much more. -------------------------------------------------------------With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA131! Today we are joined by Kevin Cappy, aka HummusVacuum. We knew this one was gonna be a great time but this truly exceed expectations. From his transition from The Grievance Club to HummusVacuum, to creating content, to how to properly pull one over on the self checkout machines, this interview was equally informative as it was entertaining. We talk about some of our mutual friends of the show like Adjust The Sails and Dear Cincinnati, as well as Alex Trebek and the kid from The Sixth Sense that sees the dead people. Oh yeah, and of course we had some lovely messages for friends of the show RFK Jr and Donnie Trump LOL.Go check out HummusVacuum on your preferred streaming platform._________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to another little mini episode! Today we're talking about Robb's weekend, more specifically his experience at the Savannah Banana's game doing work with Brotege and the Man-Nana's cheer squad. Okay idk why I started this in third person it's clearly me typing, yeah this was an awesome time and I am super excited for you to see more content to come from this but for now I just wanted to give you all a little run down of it all because it was truly the most magical time. Thank you to the Man-nana's and Banana's for being so hospitable and thank you to Brotege for letting me tag along.Along with this, we also discuss the popular move of bands bringing out special guests. At some point does it become expected? Does it stop being special? Do you like this? What about when bands announce the setlist ahead of times? Weigh in down in the comments pals!___________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Rushmores, multiple episodes, etc and today we find out what makes them so highly regarded. Welcome to EKA129! Today we are joined by Jake Davis from the San Diego band Ikana! When I interviewed Jake, he was one day removed from playing a show with Jake Langley of Handguns (this was before Handguns pt 2 ) so we had lots to talk about. Ikana have been laying claim to the term Southwest Emo and in this wide ranging conversation Jake Davis makes a strong case for Ikana to be considered THE southwest emo band. We talk his norcal origins, the state of the San Diego scene today vs. when I was involved many moons ago, as well as our favorite local spots for shows and burritos. Also, we talk about Creed more than you'd think?Either way, Jake was a treat and Ikana are grinding away and I'm excited to see where the rest of 2026 takes them as they navigate writing, recording and releasing music as well as touring. Oh yeah, they do all this in house as well. True DIY spirit. Go listen to Ikana on your preferred streaming service and follow them on social media! @ikanaband_____________________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA128.5, a minisode celebrating the one year anniversary of this program. One year, 128 episodes, countless interviews, silly sketches, memories and magic. When we started this show I don't think either of us would have dreamed of being where we are today and this minisode is a celebration of all we have accomplished in that time. From interviewing our favorite bands to getting to meet eachother in person, adding Catherine to our team, flying to LA for meetings with our boy Minardi and everything inbetween. If you're watching this, thank you. Never did we imagine we would have gotten to do so many cool things in the past year and so much of that is thanks to you, our viewers/listeners/friends/fans/parasocial bullies. Please let us know in the comments your favorite memories and/or guests in show history. Actually, let us know your least favorite too. And seriously, THANK YOU for being so cool. Wether you've been here for one year or one episode, we can't express how grateful we are and how insane it is to have anyone care about what we have to say. Without you, it would just be us. <3_______________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. After a recent run of accolades from TIFF, SIFF and the Moose Jaw Film Festival, Dylan finally gets his biggest accomplishment of all...The EKA Seal of Approval! In all seriousness, Our Last Days as Kids made Robb cry multiple times, so check it out HERE._______________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to a EKA127.5, a mini episode (minisode) about the future of music festivals. Among other things we discuss the future or not future of When We Were Young, Waterparks and the Vans Warped Tour, plus the financial side of things. Has the over corporatization of the major festivals made smaller ones more appealing? What if we put together our own festival featuring bands from our show and scene? Would that be like, totally crazy or nah? What do you think? Are festivals a little friggity right now or are you happy with things? What are your favorites? Expect a couple of these little bite sized episodes every week (sorry, more of us).________________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA127! Today we are joined by Capture This, a pop punk band based out of Denver, CO. A couple months ago we asked who we should have on the show and no band was tagged more than Capture This so we had to see what the fuss was all about. Leah, Zach and Alex were an absolute pleasure to have on and they walked us through the history of their band. From their Craigslist origins to recording at Bill Stevenson's Fort Collins studio The Boiler Room to working with Dan Swank, the story of Capture This is interesting as hell. We spoke about other Denver bands, including friends of the show Relate. as well as 3OH!3 of course. Also, LOLitslea, is that her name? I think we have to book her. Welcome to EKA126! Today we're joined by Chemical Sun out of Springfield Missouri. This band blends the best of early millennial rock music. Post hardcore, pop punk, emo, even a little butt rock. We talk about the bands origins and writing process as well as the difficulties of parenting (sorry Devon, kinda bit your whole thing). Kevin also owns a merch company that prints garments for many friends of the show, including halftimeshow, Thoughts on Bowling and Dear Cincinnati. We talk about these bands along with their local pal Derek Berry of TRSH.___________________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. welcome to the interview I never thought would happen, nor wanted to. When we were joined by Handguns last fall we were expecting a routine interview with a veteran pop punk band. Instead, we were subjected to shenanigans, disrespect and downright unpalatable behavior at the hands of Handguns, most notably Jake Langley. "Never again" we vowed. Amanda was LIVID. Well, here we are six months later and I am sitting down in my living room one on one with Jake Langley to discuss the events that transpired during the worst interview of all time. This interview is unsanctioned, unauthorized and uncensored. Neither NAPNET nor EKA LLC endorse or approve of this interview. However, I am a believer in begging for forgiveness before asking for permission so here we are.Laffoon vs Langley. Round 2. Live and in person.Viewer discretion is advised._________________________________________________With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA 125! Today we are joined by Mitchell Jay aka Mitchell Kinn aka Mr. Yummy himself. When Berkeley from Thoughts on Bowling came on our show a few months ago and hinted at the identify of their new singer I went full tinfoil hat, so when they announced Mitchell as the new vocalist I knew we had to get him on the show to learn more. We dive into how he became the new frontman for one of emo's hottest new bands as well as the wild and weirdly theatrical road he took to get there. As a vocal coach who works with the singers of some of your favorite bands like Arm's Length and Hot Mulligan, Mitchell is an expert at the instrument that is the human voice and he was nice enough to give us a little lesson on how to sing like Patrick Stump. Straight up, this might have been Amanda's favorite moment on the show, it was magical. I'm very excited to see what the future holds for Thoughts on Bowling with Mitchell on the mic because if there performance at Burn Bright is any indication, they're about to hit a whole new level. See you fellas next month in Pomona!--------------------------------------With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA124! Today we are joined by Cam, Gardner and Will from Primrose, an emo band from Maine (not to be confused with an emo band called The Maine, who they had a strong message for!). The fellas took us through the history of Primrose, from Cam and Gardner recording the record in their pandemic pod with two mics, to expanding the band, to recording Sad In The Northeast! We talk about The Office, Drinking Out of Cups, and what The Maine have to do to rightfully claim the state. Who is the president of emo? who fills up their cabinet? We uhh, weirdly took a stab at this and I think we did okay? Go stream Primrose's newest single Pissing Contest (i'm losing) on all your favorite platforms or whatever.Check out Primrose on the internet here!----------------------------------------------------------------With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else. Welcome to EKA123! Today I am joined by Kieffer and Joe from Tequila Mockingbird and we are celebrating the release of their new album "You Always Felt Lost", available as of today March 13! I knew this was going to be a special episode before we started because these mfs have been raved about in multiple episodes. If a band is from Michigan and they've been on our show, chances are they not only know TM, but they've probably played a show at Kieffer's house, also known as The Goblin Zone. In this interview we talk all about the Goblin Zone as well as all of the other infamous house show venues in Michigan that we have heard about on the pod. From the Church of Elvis Presley to the HOG house, this interview left me wishing I lived in Michigan (never thought I'd say that). We also dive into the origins of the band, their current and past favorite bands, and the making of LP1. These two are some of my favorite guests in show history, I hope you appreciate this interview as much as I appreciated taking part in it.With multiple new episodes every week, Emo Kids Anonymous is your home for all things emo and everything else.
