In this episode of They Were Both Found Dead, we journey through three disturbing corners of history. First, the chaos and bloodshed of the 1886 Haymarket Affair, the protest that turned deadly and forever changed the labor movement. Then, we unravel the story behind shrunken heads, from ritual practice to modern exploitation. Finally, we cover the horrifying crimes of Erna and Horst Petri, a Nazi couple whose war atrocities shock even decades later.  Dark history, human horror, and the unsettling truths the past refuses to bury. Dark History Ep 9

Today we talk about the horrific Tulsa Massacre and the events leading up to it- a thriving black community in the middle of our country, war torn and burnt to the ground in one night. We follow up discussing Vietnam, and the crazy psychological tactics used by both the states and Vietnam soldiers. You’ve heard about the horrific physical traps,  but what about the mental ones?
In this gripping episode of They Were Both Found Dead, we uncover the devastating cost of human greed in some of the most tragic architectural disasters in history. We begin with the Quebec Bridge, which collapsed twice during construction in 1907 after warnings were ignored. In post-war London, the Battersea Park funfair disaster reveals how profit-driven neglect turned a simple amusement ride into a deadly trap. In Omaha, a meatpacking plant crumbled onto its workers, the result of years of cutting corners and ignoring safety. The Champlain Towers South collapse in Surfside, Florida highlights how delayed repairs and cost-saving decisions became a death sentence for its residents. Finally, we revisit the Kansas City Hyatt Regency skywalk disaster, where a last-minute design change made to save time and money led to one of the deadliest structural failures in American history.

Haunted Islands Ep 07

2025-06-1849:14

In this eerie episode, the podcast delves into five of the world’s most haunted islands, each steeped in dark history and supernatural lore.  The journey begins with Banaba Island in Kiribati, a place nearly destroyed by phosphate mining and colonial exploitation, where some believe the disturbance of sacred land has left a lingering curse. Next is Mexico’s Island of the Dolls, a haunting site in the Xochimilco canals covered in decaying dolls, said to be possessed by the spirit of a young girl who drowned nearby. The episode then moves to Ramree Island in Myanmar, infamous for a World War II story in which hundreds of Japanese soldiers were allegedly killed by swarming saltwater crocodiles, leaving behind an atmosphere of dread.  In the remote Flannan Isles off the coast of Scotland, the mysterious disappearance of three lighthouse keepers in 1900 has given rise to ghost stories and theories of madness or supernatural intervention. Finally, this episode of The Were Both Found Dead visits Poveglia Island in Italy, often called the most haunted island in the world, where plague victims were once burned and a psychiatric hospital later operated under disturbing conditions, its tragic past still echoing in ghostly sightings and ominous legends.
This video illustrates two controversial deaths covered in mystery and conspiracy. It begins with the death of Princess Diana, exploring the suspicious circumstances surrounding the Paris car crash and how some elements of the event didn’t add up. The video then turns to the mysterious death of Dorothy Kilgallen, a journalist and TV personality who was investigating the JFK assassination. She was found dead under unusual circumstances shortly after claiming to have exclusive information. Both cases demonstrates how far those in power may go to bury the truth.

E05 Animal Attacks

2025-05-2301:00:32

This video dives into a mixture of human animal encounters, which end up being both tragic and extraordinary. It opens with the harrowing account of the USS Indianapolis shark attacks of 1945, where hundreds of shipwrecked U.S. sailors were left adrift in shark-infested waters, resulting in one of the deadliest shark attacks in history.  The story then turns to a case of an elephant attack at a funeral in India, where a wild elephant trampled a woman, then returned during her funeral to attack her body as if it had a personal vendetta.  Next is the tragic case of Tilikum, the orca involved in multiple trainer deaths, whose story raised serious questions about animal captivity.  The video also talks about Steve Irwin, the beloved wildlife expert whose unexpected death from a stingray strike in 2006 stunned the world and became one of the rarest animal related fatalities ever recorded.  Finally, it lo oks at the Gombe Chimpanzee War, a violent conflict between chimpanzee groups studied by Jane Goodall that revealed disturbing behavior in these creatures. Each one of these cases blends terror and astonishment into one, showing that there are some consequences when it comes to connecting with the animal world. Want to make a difference?
