He began his career at the ABC in 1965, later joining Channel Nine's 60 Minutes in 1978. He is also recognized for hosting the popular Midday and A Current Affair programs. Martin has received numerous accolades, including five Gold Logies, and was awarded the Order of Australia for his contributions to journalism and community work, particularly his involvement with Indigenous Australians and charities.
