Description

Do you resonate with the idea of being a system of many different parts or subpersonalities that have different hopes and agendas for you, rather than feeling like one fixed personality? And perhaps you know deep down that your deepest authentic Self is already healed and whole, even if it most days it doesn’t really feel like that?
Same! This is the understanding of the Internal Family Systems model — created by Richard Schwartz.
This podcast is a celebration of what it is like to live as a system of parts, learning to be more Self Led. We welcome all your parts to this ’Parts Party’ with Adriana and Ella, therapists and IFS enthusiasts, as they discuss the lived experience of the Internal Family Systems.

Adapted from William Baldwin. Bob says "This meditation was developed as a way for people to protect themselves from what Baldwin called Negative Energies. I believe it’s more effective than creating a boundary or a wall. Protectors tend to attract what they fear the most, and walls tend to do that, too. If you practice this meditation often, it can become a tool to quickly protect you from the energies you’re dealing with, however the very best protection is not being afraid, and this meditation can help us with that." Bob Falconer has worked with, taught, and consulted on IFS for over 14 years. He's recently published his latest book: The Others Within Us: Internal Family Systems, Porous Mind, and Spiritual Possession - on unattached burdens and guides. Available on Amazon at: https://a.co/d/6c0gn2F
Bob Falconer is an IFS Therapist and author of 'The Others Within Us' co-authored with Richard Schwartz. In this episode, Bob shares his own history- one of extreme sadistic child abuse; sexual, physical, emotional, and spiritual. His brother suicided when they were teenagers, his mother was in and out of mental hospitals, and his father was murdered when Bob was 21. His work in therapy was motivated by his own need to heal and he was drawn to working with men with similar histories. He was one of the first men to publicly talk about being a sexual abuse survivor. (This podcast is not affiliated with the IFS Institute.) This meditation is an invitation to hear from parts of your system that use shaming. (While also giving full permission to instead stay with parts that are not ready to get to know the shaming part/s, if that is what is needed.) A lovely opportunity to experience some IFS, led with much Self Energy by the wonderful Stephanie Mitchell. Stephanie is offering a 'Shame Sanctuary' retreat in QLD Australia for those who are called to join (therapists and others welcome). She specialises in working with adults who have experienced labels of early developmental trauma, BPD and psychosis and is currently undertaking research on IFS and psychosis, in a collaboration between the University California San Francisco and Flinders Uni.   This episode is a wonderful opportunity to hear about what IFS therapy can be like from the client perspective- over many years of sessions, as Stephanie generously introduces us to some of her parts, and how they have evolved and unburdened with the support of her IFS therapist.  Stephanie is offering a 'Shame Sanctuary' retreat for those who are called (therapists and others welcome), and this episode explores some of the burdens and complexities of shame from the perspective of parts and Self. Life will always have moments that are upsetting and distressing. In these moments, parts of us get activated, and try to do their best to help us cope. They buzz with anxiety, they try to fix, they focus on others or they find ways to numb us out. This meditation might be helpful in moments where you feel blended or taken over by a part. We hope you find it supportive.
Martin Toré is the creator of IFS Buddy, an AI tool for Internal Family Systems self-therapy that gained traction overnight and now helps thousands of people worldwide, has been showcased at major healthcare conferences, and universities are reaching out to include it in their research. Martin was previously a physiotherapist, and he talks about how working with people living with chronic pain led him to learn about trauma and the links between trauma and pain. He shares how he learnt to come from his heart when having  difficult and delicate conversations with his patients. Martin said he started working with IFS through video guidance and was able to make profound healing shifts through this self work, and shares his humble gratitude that the tool he created 'IFS Buddy' is granting free access for people worldwide to work with their parts outside of a formal IFS session. https://www.ifsbuddy.chat hello@ifsbuddy.chat Derek Scott's Youtube Channel that Martin mentions: https://www.youtube.com/@IFSCA IFS Australia: https://mindbeyond.com.au/ IFS Institute: https://ifs-institute.com/ Adriana: https://adriananaraicounselling.com.au/ Ella: https://ellashannon.com/
An Internal Family Systems Meditation to know and connect with parts, shared by Rebecca O'Calloghan.
Rebecca O'Callaghan is a Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist based in Ireland. Rebecca discusses flow states and her deepening experiences of Self Energy, and how intellectual parts of her have loved the framework of IFS- putting words to what is known internally. Laura is a spiritual teacher and IFS therapist, as well as a researcher and author with a PhD in psychophysics. She first encountered IFS ten years ago—by accident—when she mistakenly signed up for what she thought was a Family Constellations workshop. Instead, it turned out to be an IFS Constellations workshop, which helped her to powerfully connect with her grieving and anxious parts. In this episode of the Parts Party, Laura shares some gorgeous examples of Self-Led parenting, the gift of psychedelics as part of her journey of knowing Self and gifts us with an eloquent exploration of Self, parts & ego. This is an IFS meditation to get to know bodily pain or symptoms that have no structural cause. It is based on somatic tracking, a tool in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) that helps us observe pain and symptoms from a place of safety. IFS helps us get to this calm, compassionate place by taking care of the parts that are naturally worried about the pain. We then listen to the sensation and see what it is trying to teach us. To learn more about IFS and mind-body pain, here is an article by Manya. https://partsandself.org/what-can-physical-pain-teach-us/ More about Manya https://www.meetmanya.com/ Instagram Facebook linkedin
Manya Ronay is a Certified Level 3 IFS Practitioner and Certified Health Education Specialist. Originally from the USA and living in Israel, Manya shares openly about how her inner system has adapted to living in war time. We discuss parts that come up around eating and food, how time with family activates our parts and how chronic illness can show up with a message to slow down when manager parts really take over. Another beautiful conversation about learning to be Self-Led and the gift of IFS.  To learn more about IFS and mind-body pain, here is an article by Manya: https://partsandself.org/what-can-physical-pain-teach-us/ Manya Ronay: www.meetmanya.com IFS Australia: https://mindbeyond.com.au/ IFS Institute: https://ifs-institute.com/ Adriana: https://adriananaraicounselling.com.au/ Ella: https://ellashannon.com/
Amitayus Syzygy is an IFS Therapist from Phoenix, Arizona. He joins this episode of the parts party, sharing early experiences of loss, how thousands of hours of spiritual practices brought beautiful insights and experiences but ultimately did not change deep seated patterns in his relationships and how through Internal Family Systems he learnt to look after his own inner children, rather than hoping his partner could be responsible for their wellbeing.  Amitayus brings a rich discussion about Self and Self-Energy to this episode that I am sure listeners will delight in.
