We've been glued to our World Baseball Classic screens. As it turns out, this rocks. How does it feel to watch your favorite baseball players playing on massive teams all day every day?
The night we are recording is USA vs Mexico. Outside of the final, it's probably the biggest game of the Classic. By the time you read this a winner will have been decided. The winner is the fan.

Baseball games are playing again!
Soup to nuts - how did the Red Sox offseason go this winter. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, what did all of your Fenway hotdogs pay for?
It was mostly waiting for Sam Kennedy to get a clue.
This team is better. It is. Don't tell me it's not. We would have loved this team with Bregman, Marte, Ryan, but this team is undeniably better than it was. Not the Yankees. Those guys are barely a dingy without a hole.

Tim Healey, Red Sox beat reporter. Raised on the beat streets of Miami and baptized in the Boston fires of the Rafael Devers trade. Tim gives us the low-down - walks us through the marathon, if you will.
WBC is coming up, Roman Anthony has been cleared to play for team USA. Tim estimates that he would start for the team 54.5% of the time. Say what you will about Roman Anthony, I love him.
Spring training has begun. There are a few early standouts. Believe it or not, Tim likes Wilyer Abreu. He also likes Jake Bennett. I, too, like Wilyer Abreu and Jake Bennett.

For everyone that protested the Bad Bunny show, Alex Cora liked it.
Red Sox this week acquired the most rag tag group of infielders. Tsung-Che Cheng, Mickey Gasper, Brendan Rogers, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Caleb Durbin, and both of the other two guys that came over in the Caleb Durbin trade. Breslow really said "Oops, all infielders!"
On the other side of the world, Detroit, Skubal sets an arbitration record. Showing up with props to his hearing, his back to back Cy Young awards. Plopping them big, fat awards right on the table. What does that mean for the Red Sox? Nothing, they've already extended Garrett Crochet.
Shame there was zero Patriots news this week. The end.

We will be releasing this episode every day for the next 33 years, the same amount of time that Bill Murray was presumably stuck in Groundhog's Day. Which is stupid because if the writers of Groundhog's Day knew anything it's that Bill Murray presumably would have been stuck in Groundhog's Day for 6 weeks.

Remember the 2016 Red Sox? Gabby Maljanian of Locked-On Sox surely does. The 2016 Red Sox, somehow, look like a baseball Hollywood walk of fame. Funny because they didn't win the series that year, right?
But you know who did win? Rick Porcello, 2016 Cy Young.
Crazy, too that this was the final year of David Ortiz' playing career. Reminder that this year he led the league in doubles and RBIs. This was also the year of 9.8 bWAR Mookie Betts. And all-star knuckleballer Steven Wright.
And Cubs star closer Aroldis Chapman.

The Red Sox are connected to a plethora of potential trade candidates - some we like (Nico Hoerner) more than others (Brendan Donovan). Like, significantly more.
There was also plenty of record setting and record cucking news in baseball this week - including Kyle Tucker to the Dodgers on the largest AAV contract ever given out, and Bo Bichette to the Mets on the Bregman sweetheart deal. The Mets are the weirdest group of infielders I think I've seen, maybe ever.
Paredes is the most likely option to end up in Boston, but he is just not worth a singular Brayan Bello or Jarren Duran. We think by next week, SOMETHING falls into place (like the long Tetris piece).

The Boston Red Sox sign an actual player to an actual deal. Yes, in the year of our lord 2026, Craig Breslow gives $130mm to Ranger Suarez. Of the three available Suarezes on the market, this one is by far our favorite.
To think Suarez and Gray are splitting the duties as your #2 and #3 pitchers respectively is all Red Sox fans have dreamed about since 2018. Finally, the Red Sox sign a player for just money. No prospects, no contract splits, just money.
There's still some redeeming to do so keep it together, Breslow.

We are joined by newly minted king of the Barstool barverse @Hogdale_ who was in Chicago when the deal went down. Think of it like the girl from Hereditary who is by herself at the party and then on the car ride home sticks her head out the window to be decapitated.
The (Red Sox) nation turns it's eyes to Bichette, who we unfortunately have zero faith that the front office will pony up the money it takes to fill this Bregman-sized hole in the lineup.

Fenway Park - it is OLD, it is GREASY, and it IS our favorite ballpark.
We cover a LOT of ground. Firstly, player signings like Paul DeJong to the Yankees (hilarious) and Kazuma Okamoto to the Blue Jays (and what that means of the likelihood of a Bregman reunion??).
We also cover how the current events in Venezuela might affect the baseball climate. The WBC might be a little tense. The Red Sox also have multiple players from Venezuela signed to the team. The events in Venezuela affect MLB and all baseball players.
And THEN our favorite things about Fenway. Like I said - we cover a lot of ground!

From the Cardinals trades to Twitter's finest, it has definitely proved to be as spicy as it has been boring for the Red Sox.
Sonny Gray and Willson Contreras are both welcome additions to the Red Sox. They were the right moves. No free agents yet... Come on Craig, don't let us down.
Twitter has been the most entertaining part of the offseason! At the hands of prominent Red Sox troll @KutterIsKing, both Cam Schlittler and Jazz Chisholm have been ratio-ed. May they RIP in peace.

The Boston Red Sox acquire Willson Contreras via trade with the Cardinals. Hunter Dobbins was sent back to St. Louis in the trade.
On the 8th night of Hanukkah, Breslow and Bloom celebrated with their two ultimate gifts. Bloom gets back the starting pitcher he drafted and Red Sox fill the enormous hole they've had at 1B.
We are extremely excited to welcome Contreras, he hit big bonk. Our friend Tyler (Twitter's @RedBirdFarmHand) jumped in to talk about his excitement to get Dobbins, though he is going to miss the Cardinals 1B king.

After seeing the Red Sox in 2008, she became locked in for life. Yes, we also asked why. She loves Marcelo Mayer, Wilyer Abreu, and if she became a Red Sox fan in 2008, statistically likely that she likes Jason Bay (we forgot to ask).
Tonight being the second night of Hannukah is important. Craig Breslow is celebrating, and the presents get bigger every night. If we got breaking news with a Red Sox trade on night two (Jake Bennett), imagine what happens on night eight (Shohei Ohtani).

Alonso signed with the Orioles today, and Twitter CRASHED OUT.
How do we feel about it? Less heartbroken than you think. Actually, Jack is pretty mad. He felt like we watched the Red Sox take a back seat while other teams got in on the action.
Special guest Fitzy Mo Pena of Pod on Lansdowne joins the show. Many are calling him America's sweetheart. Jake and Liam make an appearance later in the episode in our reindeer games. Fitz has some opinions on the state of the market, and the state of the Red Sox.
Though Red Sox do come home with a consolation prize, Ryan Watson. Pitcher we pilfered in the Rule 5 Draft. Fits the Breslow profile, maybe we like him.

Day 2 of the 2025 Winter Meetings and the Boston Red Sox rumor mill is SWIRLING. You name 'em, we want 'em.
The Red Sox have been connected to Ketel Marte, Isaac Paredes, Bo Bichette, Corey Seager, to name a few. Somehow, the Red Sox ended up with enough young, controllable starting pitching to feed families from Texas to Arizona.
Our sweet bonk boy Kyle Schwarber signed today with the Philadelphia Phillies. Who wouldn't have loved that 50 home run power in Boston. Alas, with Pete Alonso, we persevere.
We did make a signing today! Alec Gomboa, the Gomboa Constrictor(TM). Fresh from the KBO. Let's talk about it.

Today was day one of the MLB Winter Meetings. Many trade rumors and free agent rumors are spiraling. How will Craig Breslow steer the Boston Red Sox ship this year?
