Vivek Dempo - of the Dempo family of GOA hails from 16 generations of wealth and lineage and talks about the incubation, growth, and importance of #restoring heritage. The patriarch Vasantrao Shrinivas Sinai Dempo (born in 1916 remains a formidable name as an Indian industrialist and philanthropist from Goa. Starting from the mining business he founded in 1941, the Dempo has now grown to include interests in shipbuilding, minerals, foods, iron and steel, education, sports, philanthropy travel, and construction. This episode takes you on a journey of #konkani #catholic and #hindu colors of Goa which is more a reflection on #India's complex and beautiful fabric.Standing on the lawns of Dempo Niwas, a 150-year-old house, I walk you through the corridors of history when #jointfamilies worked, joint #kitchens spread love and the value systems of the elders were passed down and revered.
I had the honor of sitting down with the elusive Mr. Hormusji N. Cama, Chairman and key custodian of a massive responsibility, Mumbai Samachar - a true heritage brand. Its journey began on 1st July 1822, as Bombay Samachar, and was printed to alert the tradesmen about the arrival and departure of ships at the Bombay docks. Over 200+ years and counting, the newspaper is printed in Gujarati and remains Asia's oldest continuously published newspaper.Mr. Hormusji N. Cama has served as the Chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for the year 2018–2019. He gave back to society & the news landscape by previously serving two terms as the President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) and held leadership roles as the Chairman of the Press Trust of India (PTI) and the Media Research Users Council (MRUC).An active board member of INS, PTI, and MRUC, his family has been the custodian of Mumbai Samachar since the 1930s. Witnessing the complex history of India, the Mumbai Samachar still sells for Rs 10 and is thinking about revising the prices as he believes good, verified, trusted content is king.He mentioned one thing that impacted me deeply, specially in this age of “quick news." He said he preferred holding back the news, to fact-check rather than release it. That is the kind of responsibility that is so badly required in today’s news journalism.
Armando Duarte, a tourism industry professional for 37 years joined Goa Tourism Development Corporation in 1987 and retired as Dy. His journey began with Zomcal Metalloys Pvt Ltd and remains he is a passionate antiquarian, a fiercely proud Indian & Goan, extended his entrepreneurial bue to Club Paradiso & LPK (nightlife businesses) & established the world's first Alcohol museum in Candolim. This is an interesting man and a lover of Goa, its heritage, its truth, and ves Feni, I sit down in his deeply curated and opulent home, that is a ready mix of culture, curios with a shor of hedonism. By no means is he an average Joe, profoundly blunt over erudite, he brought some fresh energy into the show with his amusing life. Check it out...!

Him being the third generation heir to the iconic #Famous studios in Mumbai, a virtual landmark of Mumbai, makes a case - "It's important to be careless as an entrepreneur and make mistakes". We shot at Famous for this episode where you take an eyeful of this prestigious landmark. An amazing story of Bollywood in its yesteryears and the golden era of Celluloid and megastars. Anant himself had TWO takes to begin his journey with his family business. His passions were split between aviation & movies and this was through his experiences of meeting megastars in movies & cricket. I sat down with Mr Amit Sarda, Founder/MD of a successful National beauty & wellness brand, a vociferous animal lover with a passion for Indian products. He remains an affable man and can chat at length about anything in the world…A wide-ranging commentary on Indian ingredients, stark food, the importance of analytics in the retail industry, and a lot about the beauty industry. As a businessman who started selling his products from scratch, he definitely navigates the balance between passion and his business milestones. A prolific example of a homegrown business & a super successful homegrown brand, Mr Amit Sarda often comments publicly on retail, marketing, businesses, and startups. I would have sat longer but I ran out of time.
Born in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha - he was inspired by Chandamama, which was a classic Indian monthly magazine for children, famous for mythological & magical stories. An established and respected radical contemporary painter he plays with mixed media to create and confirms his undying love for watercolors. Through his art, he makes a strong commentary on urbanization. Remaining indebted to his teachers and to nature for inspiration, this soft-spoken artist now hangs his artwork proudly at NMACC. His journey from a Tier 1 city artist to the Megacity of Delhi is relatable and inspiring. A proud Odiya and loyalist to simplistic thinking, hear his journey to smile.
