Description
The 70% Complete Podcast is a show where the tangent IS the topic. Every other week Phil and Logan get together to talk about video games, technology, Runescape lore, weird esoteric tidbits, and vintage 1940s lamps? It's a little bit of this, a little bit of that, but never more than 70% of anything.

Today we're walking through the beginning of Dishonored 1 in our typical meandering, tangential kind of way. Sure, we'll talk about the signage, but also the provenance of that boiler you'll see all over the place. This is going to be a high chaos podcast episode about Dishonored. Spoilers for the opening, of course, but it's worth it. Promise.LinksRead the articles | Watch the videos | Join the DiscordFollow Phil on Bluesky: @phil.70percentcomplete.comFollow Logan: OFFLINE
After our definitely scheduled winter break, we're back and better than ever! We certainly had a plan for this episode that quickly got derailed by chat about Phil's Avowed video and one simple question about a router. Today's episode is about Call of Duty, a game franchise purchased by Microsoft in 2023. Microsoft, specifically Xbox, is the target of the BDS Movement's boycott action in response to Microsoft's involvement in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The BDS Movement is explicitly asking us to cancel ongoing Game Pass subscriptions and decline to purchase items from the Microsoft Store. For more information, visit the campaign page.----------Today we're talking about skill-based matchmaking, the bogeyman of many a Call of Duty player. What is it, why is it, and is it really as bad as that guy on Tiktok says it is?Probably not, right? In the second half of the show, we talk about Logan's peak Call of Duty degeneracy and how he managed to get good with a handful of hokey (but helpful) mantras. Or axioms. This is a great episode if you want to know more about how games incorporate your performance into play, as well as want some advice on how to get good at something (and never be able to turn back again).LinksRead the articles | Watch the videos | Join the DiscordFollow Phil on Bluesky: @phil.70percentcomplete.comFollow Logan: OFFLINE
Welcome to Data Privacy Talk? This episode is the canonical example of what happens when something gets our goat...when our "goat" is user data and "get" means claw from our cold, dead internet hands. We don our tinfoil hats and vent about some of the latest tech frustrations we've had, then talk a bit about what we're doing to claw back a tiny bit of control. Come on in, we've got plenty of hats to go around.LinksRead the articles | Watch the videos | Join the DiscordFollow Phil on Bluesky: @phil.70percentcomplete.comFollow Logan: OFFLINE
For the first ever episode of the 70% Complete Podcast recorded LIVE and IN PERSON, Logan had a plan: what if this time, we watched Star Trek? Now you may be wondering, what POSSIBLE methodology could be employed in deciding what Star Trek to watch? We just did one Logan liked. So! Strap in as we watch my first Star Trek episode (ever!): "Darmok." The show is split into two sections, the first is some commentary as Logan and I chat through the episode and the second is just a discussion of the themes and our general thoughts about the episode. The discussion begins at 38:28.LinksRead the articles | Watch the videos | Join the DiscordFollow Phil on Bluesky: @phil.70percentcomplete.comFollow Logan: OFFLINE
Today, we continue our march through Old School RuneScape patch notes to talk about Logan's greatest enemy: clues what can stack. We dig into how the game used to work, how stackable clues work now, and then get into the big Ship of Theseus discussion about quality of life improvements. It's a great episode and I think you're love it. Also, we talk about Cabbage Wizards. I dunno, man.LinksRead the articles | Watch the videos | Join the DiscordFollow Phil on Bluesky: @phil.70percentcomplete.comFollow Logan: OFFLINE

Oh, I see you're putting your headphones away, okay wait, let me try one more time:In today's episode of the 70% Complete Podcast, Logan explains what the hell Slayer is, we manage to not make a single Reign in Blood joke nor make the Halo Slayer voice, and somehow come away understanding some stuff about how Runescape works. It's a good one!

Hello intrepid watchers of corny 80s and 90s action films, do we have a treat for you. Logan floated the idea of watching Timecop, a film I, Phil, have never seen, let alone heard of. The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a narrative walking game about nostalgia and the healing power of wide open spaces. Compared to Firewatch when it released in 2021, I found The Magnificent Trufflepigs to be something similar, yet different: somehow an interesting take on the walking sim and a game of a very distinct time. I found something important in Stanning, England and I think you might as well.
Phil joined Jess and Eric on an episode of Short Game, Long Talk to discuss I was a Teenage Exocolonist. It was a great conversation about an amazing game! If you enjoy this episode, go subscribe to Short Game, Long Talk and find another fun episode. I'm partial to the Five Nights at Freddy's episode they did a year ago, but most recently their interview with Remy Sui of 1000xResist fame was an all-timer.You can find all their socials at their linktree below!linktr.ee/shortlongpodLogan and I will be returning with new 70% Complete content soon, so stay tuned!
After 70 hours of playing Helldivers 2, I’m struck with one big question: is Helldivers satire or cosplay?Let’s talk about managed democracy, Helldivers’ inspirations, and tangle with some of the scary similarities between the digital and real world.

Remember last episode when we said it would be ludicrous to do an episode on a fantasy calendar? Here's our episode on Dragon Age's Chantry calendar system. We talk about how the ages are decided, discuss the merits of a year zero, and mention some important events in those 850+ years. Will those dates be incredibly relevant to our next two episodes? Who could say, but there's at least two dates mentioned that will be tangentially important, so really it's all worth it.LinksFind us online: gordonhamburger.comFollow Phil: @Phil.gordonhamburger.com on BlueskyFollow Logan: OFFLINEListen to Nicholas Cahill on soundcloud.com/ncahill-1029 The Dragon Ages0:00/2983.96734693877531×

So, let's spend the better part of an hour talking about rocks, metal, and...fantasy drugs?
