Royce O’Neale’s last-second 3-pointer proved to be the difference as the Phoenix Suns earned a massive 113-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers to make things interesting in the Western Conference standings. It was a game of runs, as Phoenix trailed by as many as 13 and led by as many as 12 points in the thriller.   Phoenix saw contributions from across the board as O’Neale (13 points) was one of four players to finish in double figures, a group led by Grayson Allen’s 28 points, while Collin Gillespie finished with 21 and Ryan Dunn added 10 points. The Suns’ second unit re-energized the team in the third frame and Luka Doncic’s 41 points, eight rebounds and eight assists weren’t enough for the Lakers to get a win.   The Suns (34-26) are now just one game back of the Lakers (34-24) in the standings and own the season series as they’ve won three of the first four matchups. The Phoenix Suns are struggling as of late, and while there are a number of factors contributing to the struggles, the issues with the team’s center rotation are impossible to ignore. Mark Williams has had trouble getting involved offensively and his defensive impact has not been felt, Oso Ighodaro has had the typical peaks and valleys of a young player, and Khaman Maluach has yet to fully crack the rotation to play meaningful minutes.   While Phoenix’s shortcomings on the perimeter can be attributed to the lack of depth due to injuries, there is much more to dive into with respect to why the healthy rotation of centers has not been impactful. The Phoenix Suns’ offensive woes continued Thursday as they shot 36.7% from the field in a 97-81 loss tot he Boston Celtics. The Phoenix Suns have lost six of their last nine games and the injuries continue to pile up at the worst possible time, so is it time to panic? The Phoenix Suns were without Grayson Allen, Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Jordan Goodwin and Haywood Highsmith Sunday and did not have nearly enough firepower to keep up with the Portland Trail Blazers, losing 92-77.   The Suns shot an icy 36.9% from the field and an icier 25.7% from 3-point range, and couldn’t overcome their shooting woes. Collin Gillespie found his rhythm in the fourth quarter but it was far too late as his team-high 18 points weren’t nearly enough. Thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Jalen Green, the Phoenix Suns outlasted the Orlando Magic for a 113-110 double overtime win. Green struggled mightily throughout the game, but stepped up when it mattered most for two buckets in the clutch to finish with 16 points on 6-of-26 shooting from the field.   Grayson Allen shined brightest for the Suns, scoring a team-high 27 points in a game where Devin Booker was unavailable and both Dillon Brooks and Jordan Goodwin were forced to exit with injuries. The Phoenix Suns head into the All-Star break with a 32-23 record after suffering a 136-109 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. Phoenix was without Grayson Allen, Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Isaiah Livers and things got out of hand rather quickly as Oklahoma City led by as many as 37 points in the game. Thunder star Jalen Williams led all scorers with 28 points on 11-of-12 shooting while the Suns were led by Dillon Brooks’ 23 points in 24 minutes. Brooks did pick up his 16th technical foul of the season, which, if it is not rescinded, will result in an automatic one-game suspension after All-Star. The Phoenix Suns snapped a two-game losing streak by escaping with a 120-111 in over the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday. Phoenix led by as many as 31 points in the first half but Dallas slowly chipped away thanks in large part to its ability to get to the line. The Mavericks finished the game with 44 free throw attempts to just nine from the Suns. Dillon Brooks led the way for the Suns with 23 points (on 11-of-26 shooting) while centers Mark Williams (13 points, eight rebounds) and Oso Ighodaro (10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists) made major contributions during their time on the floor. Mavs wing Naji Marshall led all scorers with 31 points while rookie star Cooper Flagg finished with 27 points in 36 minutes of action. With the win, the Suns move to 32-22 on the season with one game remaining before All-Star.
