ATTENTION: If you’re not interested in narcissism and celebrity, you can skip to the 31:00 minute mark on this video playback. You can subscribe to my Substack, ‘Healing the Scapegoat Wound’ at https://familyscapegoathealing.substack.com to be notified of my next livestream in your inbox. (Paid subscribers are able to participate in a private Live Chat during the Stream).A sincere thanks to everyone who tuned into yesterday’s live video with Dr Simon Rogoff! We had a great subscriber turnout and we appreciated your questions and your participation. Correction: Elvis’s still-born twin’s name was Jesse Garon Presley (I thought it was Aaron). What We Discussed: This was my first interview with Dr. Rogoff, author of Narcissism, Trauma and Celebrity here on Substack. The first half hour or so I invited him to share a bit about his professional background as a clinical Psychologist running a Complex Trauma treatment program in the United Kingdom for the National Health Service. We then explored a few celebrity case studies, looking at how narcissistic abuse and family scapegoating abuse might lead a child to pursue a career in the performing arts. At the 20:00 minute mark, we then took a ‘deep dive’ into narcissism as a strategy and Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) - the latter being a term that Dr. Rogoff would like to see done away with (and I whole-heartedly agree with him), which we discuss beginning at the 43:00 minute mark. I jumped in on occasion to integrate Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) concepts within the discussion. (And no, I was not trying to look like a pirate - In all my rushing around yesterday morning I forgot to put on my other earring!!)Check out the SAMHSA website to read about Trauma-Informed Care principles as discussed at the 1:08:00 minute mark at https://opentextbc.ca/peersupport/chapter/samhsas-six-principles-of-trauma-informed-care/Healing the Scapegoat Wound™ FSA Education Support Community exists because of your financial support. Questions answered: 1) What is the relationship between FSA and under-achieving or over-achieving? 2) Why don't people 'get' scapegoating when you try to tell them about it? Mother's Day and what this can bring up for FSA survivors is also briefly discussed at the end of the livestreamCORRECTION: The research study I mention in this video was led by Dr. Kartheek Balapala (not Patel - I have a friend named Kartheek Patel and said the wrong name out of habit). My apologies to Dr. Balapala. Dr. Mandy Sizalobuhle Mpofu is the third co-author on this study, which you can access here. https://oapub.org/hlt/index.php/EJPHS/article/view/202/202SAVE THE DATE: I’ll be interviewed by Elle Boone here on my Substack on Friday, May 23rd, at 12 pm PDT. I covered a lot of ground as I answered a total of 12 questions from free and paid subscribers, including a ‘deep dive’ into the pathological Family Projective Identification Process - a frequently overlooked and/or misunderstood aspect of Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA).I’d like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to all of my paid subscribers who participated in our live Chat yesterday while I streamed; your presence and input was appreciated.I’d also like to thank my free subscribers and any followers who submitted questions and/or watched my livestream yesterday. And a special note of thanks to the wonderful Kelly Thompson TNWWY, who graciously agreed to jump on camera near the end of the livestream to help answer a question posed by one of our new paid subscribers regarding scapegoating and religious / spiritual abuse.I’ll be soliciting more questions about FSA soon. Thanks to all those who tuned into my live stream today. I appreciated the thoughtful questions and the insightful discussions on camera with my colleagues Kelly Thompson and Elle Boone toward the last quarter of the video.Kelly and I talked about 12-Step programs and FSA Recovery, as well as the illusion of brokenness and stepping into our innate Wholeness. Elle asked a great question: How do we begin to dis-identify from the ‘scapegoat narrative’ and begin to live as our true self? - which I answered at length. This is a public episode.
