Description

Welcome to Raised by Video, a podcast about movies hosted by four brothers who will stop at nothing to make each other laugh. We are Andrew, Daniel, Matthew, and Stewart Doggett. Like many of you, we were raised by video to such an extent that our personalities are 90% movie quotes, 10% movie-related internet memes, and 8% poor math skills.

We pick two movies a week to discuss, but the main goal of every episode is to make each other pee our pants from laughter. And we succeed so often we all wear adult diapers while recording.

In each installment, we dissect a film, take absurd tangents, and try to out-joke each other until someone breaks. So if you like movie quotes, ridiculous humor, and the occasional nugget of profound criticism, you’re in the right place.

Become a Patron and get both weekly episodes, bonus content that should probably stay hidden, and the chance to say you enabled our descent into madness.

The perks include:

🎥 Early access to episodes before they hit Spotify and YouTube

🎬 That secret second episode each week (shhh, it’s classified)

🎞 Exclusive behind-the-scenes content & extra nonsense

🍿The ability to vote for the movies we watch

As an independently produced podcast, the four of us do all the work of editing, marketing, and writing, but this also means we have creative control. We will not read or play ads on any of our episodes. So by becoming a Patron, you’ll bolster content that remains unmolested by the intrusive, greasy fingers of the ad industry!

The Running Man: A delightful jog or a grueling marathon? This week, we discuss whether the latest Stephen King adaptation deserves its impressive 79% Popcornmeter score. “Visually … It's one of the craziest movies I’ve ever seen. It’s bizarre and all over the place.” -StewartIn this teaser, we discuss a film that has been hailed by some as wholly original and panned by others as utter garbage. With the same writer (Alex Garland) and the same director (Danny Boyle) from 28 Days Later teaming back up, we were cautiously optimistic about this one. As the credits rolled on this movie, we were left with one question: How much did they pay Clive Owen to be in this dumpster fire?Cleaner is a shameless Die Hard knock-off full of baffling character choices, tonal whiplash, and a plot that only makes sense if you watch the movie half asleep. In other words, it was a blast to review. We have a lot of fun picking this one apart, so give it a listen, and prepare to laugh yourself silly. Is The Monkey the best Stephen King adaptation yet, or does it slip on its own banana peel?Three Doggett brothers have a barrel of laughs as we discuss Osgood Perkins’s horror-comedy follow-up to Longlegs. We unpack the wild plot, debate the funniest kills, and quote some of the movie’s most hilarious lines.Plus, we compare it to the short story and consider whether this is an instance where veering from the source material is a net positive or a huge mistake. Is The Order the best 2024 crime thriller you’ve never heard of?This based-on-a-true-story film flew under the radar for us until it hit streaming platforms, and it’s such a shame it didn’t get more publicity. Jude Law’s performance blows us away in this simple yet impactful cops-and-robbers film set in 1980s Pacific Northwest. Law plays an FBI agent, while Nicholas Hoult plays a domestic terrorist with his sights set on a white ethnostate. There’s little to gripe about in this film, so we have a great time discussing the things we liked. From the music and cinematography, to the performances and the visual style, The Order provides plenty and leaves us wanting more. Our few instances of criticism have to do with Hoult’s performance and some of the special effects.Listen to this teaser as we dig into the (mostly) good, the bad, and everything in between. A music mogul, a kidnapping, and a moral conundrum, all with a Spike Lee twist. As the Doggett Brothers review the latest Spike Lee joint, our wildly differing opinions make for one of the most contentious episodes yet. Whereas some of us enjoyed the risks Spike took with this remake of the 1963 Kurosawa film High & Low, others found it to be one of Spike’s weakest films to date. But there’s one thing we all agree on: Denzel Washington is still a master of his craft.
