Lead singer Scott Weiland drew a lot of attention for his unique vocal stylings, style, and substance abuse problems. Art Alexakis is the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist who had a tumutulous childhood inspiring a lot of his songs and was known for writing personal songs reflecting how he was abandoned by his father as a child, his brother and girlfriend died of heroin overdoses when he was a preteen, and various other issues with drug abuse, alcoholism and childhood abuse. They discovered Scottish singer Shirley Manson while watching MTV and seeing her music video for her band Angelfish, and asked her to join. Their first two albums were extremely successful, pushing them to stardom and the opportunity to perform a legendary theme for James Bond movie "The World is not Enough".
