A LOT has happened in the past 24 hours in the case of missing 84 year old Nancy Guthrie.  Police arrested a man, held him for hours while searching his vehicle and home, before eventually releasing him in the early morning hours.  “Carlos” spoke to reporters about his arrest, saying he doesn’t even know who Savannah Guthrie is, or anything about a kidnapping because he “doesn’t follow the news.”  Meantime, police had to give a stern warning to reporters covering the ongoing investigation. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A potentialy case-breaking development. The FBI today released several images and videos from the doorbell camera at Nancy Guthrie's home the night she disappeared. They show a man in a mask with gloves, and the images seem to put to rest any doubts about whether or not Guthrie was actually abducted.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Two Republican congressman are demanding answers and consequences for Bad Bunny’s halftime performance they say was “pure smut” that forced American families to witness “explicit displays of gay sexual acts.” One Tennessee congressman has gone so far as to ask for a formal congressional inquiry into the NFL and NBC Universal for their prior knowledge and approval of explicit and indecent content. Are these serious complaints that could result in the dramatic action they are asking for, or is this just posturing during a midterm election year?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another video with a very different tone.  Savannah Guthrie just put out another video speaking directly to the public, asking for help.  There was no reference to a kidnapper or a ransom note, as the Guthrie family continues to race against time to find their missing 84 year old mom, who police say was take against her will 9 days ago. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He also explains why he stayed silent for decades before sharing his story.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The family of Nancy Guthrie released a new video via Instagram on Saturday in which they pleaded with kidnappers for the return of their mother.  But the tone and some of the language used in the video suggested that the siblings may have communicated with a third party, offering to pay,  so that they can have peace. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The children of Nancy Guthrie made an emotional, on-camera plea to the person(s) potentially holding their mother hostage.  Savannah Guthrie, flanked by her brother and sister, said they are "ready to talk" but said they first needed to know "without a doubt" that their mother was alive.  Amy and T. J. discuss the significance of the family's move -- which came at the end of the day of twists, turns, accusations, and denials in the case. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Amy and T.J. discuss one of the most elaborate and unthinkable murder cases they’ve ever covered with criminal defense attorney extraordinaire Alison Treissl. 40-year-old former IRS agent Brandon Banfield was found guilty this week of killing his wife Christine and a stranger he lured to his home, Joe Ryan. While Amy and T.J. thought the defense raised some reasonable doubt with two experts from the police department, Treissl pointed out all of the problems with Brendan Banfield’s testimony and why she and the jury just didn’t believe him. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As police continue to investigate the abduction of the 84 year old mother of Savannah Guthrie, the Sheriff’s department had to put out a statement today refuting an allegation made by journalist Ashleigh Banfield.  Banfield has claimed a “high level source” told her that Savannah’s brother-in-law may be the prime suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.  As several news outlets picked up on the headline, the sheriff’s department responded by acknowledging that while detectives continue to speak with anyone who had contact with Nancy Guthrie, NO suspects have been identified at this time.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another twist in the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie.  A local Arizona news station is reporting that is also received a ransom note, but decided to withhold it from the public at the request of police.  TMZ a different decision, and according to the sheriff, went public with the ransom note it received before contacting authorities, a move he said could compromise the investigation. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Another bizarre turn in the abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s mom.  TMZ has given police a ransom note they received from someone who claims to have Nancy Guthrie, demanding millions in cryptocurrency by a specific deadline, “or else.”  TMZ says the note has details about the crime scene that only the suspect would know, and the Sheriff’s Office has confirmed they are aware of  “reports of a possible ransom note.” In the Meantime, comments have started pouring in about the case online and it’s already gotten political and frankly, cruel.   We hope Savannah never reads them.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Investigators just held a news conference on the latest information into Savanna Guthrie’s missing mom, and several moments jumped out to us. First, the sheriff was asked twice about whether a ransom has been asked surrounding the abduction of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, and both times the sheriff did NOT say no. Instead he said his team was following all of their investigative leads. The sheriff also told reporters that DNA samples processed from Guthrie’s home have not implicated any specific suspect. Also of note, despite the urgency in finding Guthrie given that she’s not with her necessary daily medication, the sheriff said - barring any major developments - the next press conference wouldn’t take place for another 48 hours. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
