The boys are back! After weeks apart Dave & Ped are excited to be together again. The recap Dave's family vacation to Florida, Adam & Josiah's calorie filled trip to the Iowa State Fair, Adam's auction gigs are piling up, the boys marvel at the never ending rain and catching up on hay season and farm life recently, which has been wild. Doug & April Corlew grew up outside Chicago, attended college in Chicago, and started their marriage doing youth ministry in Des Moines, IA. To say that moving to a rural Iowa farming community would be a culture change for them would be an understatement. But that's what they felt the Lord calling them to do, so they moved, and the Lord's faithfulness has been evident time and again for 30 years now. This amazing story is a great example of how God can do big things in small places.
Adam is hay bale Rain Man. The boys had a wonderful Rural America meat cook-off, until it wasn't. Adam gets you HYPED for the best new foods at the Iowa State Fair. Dave shares the story of the downfall of his Maple Trees and how an awesome Rural America resource was there to help find the solution. The guys then discuss jobs they had and other rural kids had growing up that city kids wouldn't, before we drive down to the auction house.
On this episode the boys are joined by a local legend, one of Adam's best friends, back for their 20th class reunion, THEE Harvard Derek. Derek grew up on a farm outside of Alta and spent his days as a youth working on the farm outside of school activities. He currently resides in Boston, MA and is the perfect guest to share perspective on rural life vs major city life, the positives and negatives of both, and just how great Rural America can be. Derek is truly one of a kind so come along for an incredible conversation.
