Description

Mariners Forever is a passion project for two lifelong M’s fans who both have a background in media, broadcasting and writing about the team.

Dan Viens (Seahawks Forever, Field Gulls, Seahawks on SI, 12th Man Rising, Emerald City Sportscast) and Michael Thompson (SoDo Mojo, 12th Man Rising, Field Gulls) get together weekly to discuss all things Mariners.

Whether it’s their performance on the field, acquisitions, the draft, prospect development, injuries, or any other on or off-field happenings, there’s always something to break down and we’ll be here to do that for YOU! And don’t worry, when there’s breaking news outside of our regular episodes, we’ll react to that as well! You can also count on regular guest appearances from some of our friends and colleagues, the best and the brightest Mariners media and content creation has to offer.

And as the title suggests, no matter how well - or poorly the team is performing, we’ll be right here with you..... FOREVER!!!

The Seattle Mariners just made one of the biggest offseason moves in franchise history — re-signing Josh Naylor to a 5-year deal and securing the heart-and-soul slugger who helped power last season’s playoff run. This is massive for Seattle on multiple levels: • They finally locked up an impact bat long-term • This breaks the trend of letting core hitters walk • The move signals that ownership may finally be loosening the purse strings • The M’s are officially building around a core rather than slapping band-aids on it year to year • And it sends a clear message to the division — Seattle is going for it Rob “Stats” Guerrera joins me to break down what Naylor brings on the field, what this means for the lineup in 2026, and whether this marks a genuine shift in ownership philosophy as the Mariners push toward their first-ever World Series appearance. 🔔 Subscribe for more Mariners Forever offseason coverage! Mariners Forever welcomes Casey McLain of the Poor Sports Podcast for a deep dive into Seattle’s biggest offseason questions. Check out Casey's channel! https://www.youtube.com/@UCWu6XfTCvC0...  We start with the headline topic — should the Mariners bring back free agent Jorge Polanco, and at what cost? Is his bat still worth the investment when this team needs more serious offensive upgrades elsewhere? From there, we explore the free-agent market for Josh Naylor, possible impact bats that fit Seattle’s payroll reality, and even trade targets like Tarik Skubal that could reshape the roster if Jerry Dipoto decides to swing big again. It’s a thoughtful, realistic look at what this front office can (and must) do to finally get this team over the hump in 2026. 🔔 Subscribe for more Mariners Forever offseason coverage! Don't worry guys, I got this!  Using free agency, trades, and the foundation and resources at hand, I've gone about building what I believe to be a somewhat fantastical, and yet surprisingly realistic, Mariners offseason plan. And I was able to do it all within the budgetary guidelines ownership has hinted at for 2026.  How did I do?!   Let me know! And please be sure to subscribe to Mariners Forever audio podcasts, and on YouTube!   Forever and always.... Go Mariners!
